dear friends, Turning 40 never felt better!

As St. Andrew’s celebrates 40 years of growth and inspiration, we can look back with pride on what we achieved together during the past school year.

Our students led the way, as usual. In their diversity of faith and thought and backgrounds, in their award-winning works of art and their soccer and lacrosse and cross-country banners now hanging in Lion’s Court, in their academic achievements and honors earned, our Lions reached new heights last year. Most importantly, led by the Class of 2018’s example, our students made sure that St. Andrew’s remained a respectful, accepting, and joyful community despite the increasingly unpredictable and divided society that surrounds us.

Our faculty’s leadership and expertise continue to grow, benefiting both our own students and thousands more teachers and learners around the globe. Our Finn Student Research Fellows and Omidyar Faculty Research Fellows partnered with school and CTTL leadership to create an innovative, research-informed master schedule for the Postoak Campus that promotes deeper learning, increased connection, and a healthier flow for each school day. Educators from 20 states and five countries filled the Student Center in July for our second annual Science of Teaching and School Leadership Academy, seeking to understand and follow St. Andrew’s pioneering model as a research-to-practice school.

You – our Lion alumni, families, and friends – encourage our dreams with ever deeper generosity. Last year our Lion’s Fund

reached a new milestone in dollars raised. Every St. Andrew’s faculty and staff member contributed for the fourth straight year, and parents and alumni followed their example with recordsetting participation of their own. Our annual Fund-a-Scholar Gala appeal surpassed everyone’s hopes, even my own, for dollars raised. As a result, our faculty’s growth will be spurred by our largest professional development budget in history this year, and our financial aid program has made a St. Andrew’s education possible for more students than ever before.

We begin our 41st year brimming with pride, excited to break ground on our new Lower School this spring and to bring our 617 students together on the Postoak Campus in September 2019. In its people, programs, and possibilities, St. Andrew’s is experiencing a golden age of dynamic growth and transformative achievement. Your philanthropic commitment, combined with our Board of Trustees’ vision and financial stewardship, have made our many blessings—and our dreams for even greater teaching and learning in our fifth decade—possible. letter from the treasurer I am pleased to share with the St. Andrew’s community that the School continues to be in a position of financial strength. The 2017-2018 school year saw healthy enrollment levels, a strong operating surplus, and a positive cash flow, thus meeting our financial obligations and covenants comfortably.

Due to the generosity and engagement of our vibrant, inspiring St. Andrew’s community, we achieved record fundraising success with the Lion’s Fund (annual giving) and annual spring Gala. In addition, the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning secured new funding commitments, based on its research-based mission that inspires others both within and beyond our School community.

The support of our donor community strengthens the School’s financial flexibility and allows St. Andrew’s to sustain many important programs, such as professional development and financial aid, and to continually reinvest in our most important resources – our faculty and staff, our innovative programs, and our facilities. This allows St. Andrew’s to maintain a level of excellence and commitment to our students.

Based on the continued strong financial stewardship of the Board and administration, coupled with the success of our past, present and future fundraising efforts, the School is poised to begin construction on the new Lower School building, scheduled to open in the Fall of 2019.

As we begin the 2018-2019 school year, the Board is encouraged by the School’s record enrollment, our strong financial position, and generous donor support.

This enables St. Andrew’s to continue to provide an extraordinary teaching and learning environment, so that we may know and inspire each child.

Why I Give

“There is not a day that goes by that I’m not reminded of the value of the education that I received at St. Andrew’s. As an educator at an Episcopal school myself, I recognize how schools like St. Andrew’s forge lasting relationships between students and teachers, amongst classmates, and within the broader alumni community.
