Bid to protect historic pub

CONFUSING messages for drivers of electric cars could be putting them off using Yate's new park and ride. PAGE 6

A BID has been launched to protect a Yate pub from future development. The White Lion in Church Road has been closed for more than two years and is in the process of being sold after being put on the market for £725,000. Councillors concerned over the possible future

use of the 16th century building and its car park have now started the process of giving it special legal status to stop it being turned into housing. Town councillor Chris Willmore says they want to ensure it "remains as a community asset". Full story: Page 5
