Developers draw up scheme for 60 homes on land near golf club and common A HOUSING proposal to build on land next to Chipping Sodbury Common and near the town’s golf course looks set to be opposed. The scheme has not yet been submitted to planners but locally-based firm Cotswold Homes said it anticipated doing so in the summer. It said it wanted to develop the site sensitively while providing extensive public open space. The project is for up to 60 homes, including houses, flats and bungalows, on land off Trinity Lane, on the north side of St John’s Way. Councillor Claire Young, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Thornbury and Yate, said: "Local people have told me they really value this open countryside. They fear if it's built on it won't be able to stop St John's Way flooding. “This land hasn't been earmarked for development yet in any plan. Cotswold Homes are jumping the gun.” However, an exhibition held in Chipping Sodbury last November that looked at potential housing development areas mentioned fields either side of Trinity Lane.
