Gromit brings boost to Chipping Sodbury HE’S only been in town a matter of weeks, but already Gromit is pulling in additional shoppers and giving local businesses a summer boost. Leanne Abbot who runs Hatheralls Yard said: “There are definitely lots of people around and an increase in footfall, and of course the Summer Search is going on too. In the Yard we’ve got two little teddy Gromits to find and there’s one at Waitrose, and we’ve had families coming through and stopping off for ice cream.” The Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in bringing the famous dog to Chipping Sodbury. Nearly 40 organisations and a ‘go fund me’ page raised enough money to secure the Gromit, with the hope that its presence will boost the tourist trade. It’s part of this year’s Gromit Unleashed 2 trail which is taking place all summer in Bristol and the surrounding areas. Featuring Wallace, Gromit and arch villain Feathers McGraw, it’s raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital. Full story, page 9
