WELCOME BCLC WELCOMES YOU TO THE 18TH ANNUAL CANADIAN GAMING SUMMIT

Jim Lightbody Interim President & CEO

On behalf of BCLC, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Vancouver, and to the 2014 Canadian Gaming Summit. This is an exciting time for gaming in British Columbia and across Canada as we grow and adapt to our changing environment through interprovincial collaboration and cutting edge innovations. Canada is a leader in gaming innovation and this conference is the perfect forum to build and develop relationships, foster collaboration and share knowledge through discussions amongst delegates from across the country. Gaming is an important contributor to the economy in each and every province; our proceeds benefit people and communities across the country. But the gaming industry is maturing and we must continue to transform and adapt to the changing marketplace in order to remain competitive and relevant to our current and future players. For the most part, we have thrived in attracting and retaining our core players. Now we must embrace the challenge of enriching the gaming experience so it is an appealing entertainment option for a broader player base. In addition, together with Manitoba and Quebec, we have begun to build an online gambling network in Canada that helps keep gambling proceeds at home and offers players a regulated option. Finally, as an industry, we must continue to evolve and enhance our responsible gambling programs and services so players have the information and understanding they need in order to make the right choices. These programs are key to the sustainability of our business and public acceptance of gambling overall. The Canadian Gaming Summit provides the opportunity to learn and collaborate on how we will face these challenges and further strengthen our ability to offer exceptional gaming entertainment across Canada. This year’s agenda offers a full range of sessions that will expand your knowledge and understanding of our business. In addition, our vendor community will display the latest products and services on the Summit’s exhibition floor. As industry leaders, you have the vision, the knowledge and the experience to help pave the way for gaming entertainment. I know this conference will be an engaging experience, which will generate important conversations and offer great value to our dynamic industry. It is our privilege to host the event this year, and I am delighted to welcome all delegates to beautiful British Columbia and the city of Vancouver.

Jim Lightbody Interim President & CEO BCLC Bill Rutsey President & CEO, Canadian Gaming Association

Chuck Nervick Senior Vice President, MediaEdge Communications

“WHERE THE CANADIAN GAMING INDUSTRY MEETS” Welcome to Vancouver and the 2014 Canadian Gaming Summit – Canada’s premier annual conference and exhibition for gaming professionals since 2006. Now, more than ever, the Summit is the only annual event relevant to all of Canada’s major players – the crown agencies charged with conducting and managing, and regulating gaming, gaming property owners and operators, the charitable gaming sector, First Nations and the manufacturers and suppliers of gaming equipment, systems and services. Our working partnership for the development and delivery of the gaming education component of the Summit with British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission, Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries, Ontario Lottery and Gaming, Loto-Québec and Atlantic Lottery Corporation has produced the most content-rich Summit yet. Key to this is the continuing leadership and support of the senior executives from each of the agencies, and their willingness to come together to share knowledge, develop common practices and standards and to explore new and different thinking. The Summit would not be the success it is without our attending delegates, event and entertainment sponsors and exhibitors. We would also like to acknowledge and thank 2014 Summit co-host British Columbia Lottery Corporation for their assistance and support, enabling us to produce what we are sure will be an outstanding educational experience. We would be remiss if we did not urge all attending to take advantage of information and content on hand, as well as the many formal and informal networking opportunities to catch up with colleagues from across the country and around the world. Thanks to you all for attending and supporting the Summit. We are sure that you are going to value and enjoy your entire experience this year in Vancouver.

GLI UNIVERSITY MONDAY, JUNE 23, 2014 1:10pm - 2:00pm Electronic 50/50 Raffle System Audits WMR 111/112 Electronic raffle systems are increasingly replacing the paper 50/50 tickets manually distributed at sporting events and fundraisers. Using sophisticated wireless handheld devices and kiosks for ticket printing connected to back-office servers for storing and analyzing data these systems provide real time information on pool size to customers and on the sales process to draw organizers. As the increased scale and efficiency of the raffle process using these systems have driven prizes at single sporting events into six figures the unique risks introduced by electronic raffle systems have attracted increased regulatory scrutiny. This session focuses on the unique features of electronic raffle systems and how the risks of their operation can be mitigated through effective testing and auditing practices. Aside from a discussion of the technical aspects of testing and auditing, the challenges of maintaining raffle integrity with deployments which use components from the software supplier, the venue itself, and the charitable organization which is the end licensee will be discussed.

3:10pm - 4:00pm Auditing the Cloud WMR 111/112 How do you know what you don’t know about the security of your Hosted Cloud System? Have you audited your cloud provider lately and what should be included the audit plan? Are you sure the provider is keeping their end of the agreement? It is no longer good enough to just audit your own system since you may no longer be the weakest link. It’s time to think bigger... during this session you will learn what should be in your current audit plan. The session will also discuss how to build an audit plan to test your hosted Cloud. Additional topics reviewed will include testing of Authentication, Authorisation, Accounting, social engineering, availability, component virtualization and encryption. Our networks and system environments have changed and continue to change so we must keep current. Speaker: Bill Higgins, Development Manager, GLI Canada

Speaker: Robert Cutler, Business Systems Analyst, GLI Canada 2:10pm - 3:00pm Network Risk Assessment and Field Testing & Inspection WMR 111/112 Are your IT networks and systems secure? How does one know? Does your IT system alert you if an attempt for unauthorized access were to occur over your network? Is your software current and identical to the version tested in lab? Is the software aligned to regulations in your jurisdiction? How do you know it is current and has not been altered? This session is designed to explore these questions as well as the risks of unauthorized access to your system and outdated software. Furthermore it will outline steps one can take to mitigate these risks. Additional topics reviewed will include: a practical approach to internal, external and wireless network assessments, the three phases of field testing and inspection (local areas network, software and system communications) and key risks to be aware of. Speaker: Greg Doucette, Director, Professional Services, GLI Canada

RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014

11:10am - 12:00pm Millennials and Social Gaming: Changing the Game Environment to Attract the Next Generation of Players WMR 114/115 The gaming industry is working to expand its player base and improve its appeal to a generation that prefers 21st century social games such Xbox, Angry Birds, and the ever-popular Candy Crush. Millennials (and the generation behind them, which is so young it hasn’t been named yet) have always been wired and they experience a high percentage of their social interactions online. Millennials also seek greater purpose and social connectedness from their consumer experiences and view robust corporate social responsibility as table stakes.

10:10am - 11:00am Managing Risks of Problem Gambling – Current Perspectives on Duty of Care Questions WMR 102 With recent judicial decisions on high profile problem gambling legal actions (Ross case in BC, Dennis class action in Ontario), what considerations are being discussed in industry and legal communities around duty of care and RG policies and programming?

As the industry grapples with how to attract the next generation of players, taking a closer look at social gaming is the next logical step. But customer preferences are unique to this platform. This panel will examine what strategies gaming developers use when it comes to building and marketing social games to attract and retain new players. How should game design and gaming environments alter in order to appeal to changing demographics? And what RG protocols should be adapted to ensure that it is just fun and games? Moderator: Amanda Brewer, Partner, TRM Consulting Panelists: Kenny Huang, CEO, Bluebat Games; Terry Debono, Partner, The Debono Group 12:10pm - 1:00pm Online Gambling and the RG Learning Cycle WMR 114/115 Early efforts in Responsible Gaming implementation may have drawn on experience in land-based gaming, however the direction of that learning has reversed, with Internet gaming informing landbased gaming. Panelists will review the merits and blind spots of account-based gambling for RG. Research-based approaches to identify risk, informed by land-based gambling and observable signs, don’t work and may not be needed to understand who is at risk in an Internet setting. Panelists will discuss emerging evidence drawn from analysis of behaviours prior to account closure or to self-exclusion in order to build predictive models of risk. New approaches to regulation will be examined for Internet gaming, such as Ontario’s new Standards. Panelists will also examine third party harm – the scarcity of available evidence, policy steps being taken in other jurisdictions – and debate the potential implications for a Canadian context. Moderator: Kevin Weber, Partner, Dickinson-Wright Panelists: Knut Walters, Communications Economist, Scientific Affairs; Paul Smith, Director, Social Responsbility, BCLC; Alex Blaszczynski, ALC; Judith Glynn, Consultant, Strategic Science

What do standards mean for the future of the industry? WMR 109 Over the last number of years a number of RG standards for operators have emerged, including the World Lottery Association, RG Check, standards-based approach to regulation, the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation’s National RG Framework. What difference have these standards made for operators in Canada? Have they clarified obligations, or do multiple standards create confusion? Can these developments help the evolution of the industry over the next decade as new product and channel development will continue to develop? Moderator: Bev Mehmel, Director, Corporate Social Responsibility, MLL Panelists: Dr. Jamie Wiebe, Director of Research & Development, Responsible Gambling Council; Alan Feldman, Executive Vice President, MGM Resorts; Kim Wilson, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility, ALC

HORSE RACING TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014

11:10am - 12:00pm An Update on North American Horse Racing Industry WMR 110 The Panel will discuss the current and future outlook of Horse Racing in Canada.

2:10pm - 3:00pm The Horse-Racing Industry: Regulation and Change WMR 117 The horse-racing industry has traditionally held itself apart from other gaming activities and the Criminal Code reflect its status as an activity that is clearly separate from the world of lotteries and casinos. To most outsiders, the operation and regulation of the industry is a black box. As horse-racing continues to lose market share in Canada, at least one provincial government is taking active steps to integrate it into the main gaming universe. The panel will provide an overview of the laws governing horse-racing in British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. It will also consider changes that could be made to the Criminal Code to allow the integration of horse-racing into activities presently run by the provincial lottery corporations. In that regard, the panel will also provide a brief overview of the recommendations made by the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Transition Panel in the report it issued last October.

Moderator: Chuck Keeling, Vice President, Great Canadian Gaming Corp. Panelists: Chris Roberts, Venue Manager, Northlands Park; Vincent Trudel, President, Gaming Operations; Bill Ford, Vice President Legal, Woodbine Entertainment Group 3:10pm - 4:00pm Integration of Horse Racing into OLG’s Modernization WMR 117 The session will provide an overview of market research findings, efforts around marketing and product development, and cover how these two industries will work together in Canada’s largest market. SPORTS BETTING TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014

3:10pm - 4:00pm What Does the Sports Betting Landscape Look Like in Canada? WMR 114/115 This session aims to paint the landscape for sports betting in Canada. The taboo topic of sports betting with be discussed from a dual perspective; not just understanding what current day bettors are doing, but also what non-sports bettors are doing.

3:10pm - 4:00pm How Content Can Make Canada’s Parlay System More Enjoyable for Customers and More Profitable for Lottery Corporations WMR 114/115 Canada is a sports-crazy nation and we love all kinds of sports: football, hockey, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf and nobody cheers for curling like Canadians. Canadian cities are proud homes to many major-league teams and there is no shortage of interest in the sports industry.

Speaker: Jason Allsopp, Associate Vice President, Ipsos

So how can lottery corporations harness this interest and enthusiasm for sports and make the existing parlay system more enjoyable for customers and more profitable? The answer is simple: content. Provide more sports information to drive interest and demystify Canada’s sports betting process. Consumers require information in order to make an informed and responsible choice, and once they feel comfortable, their enjoyment of the experience will increase. They’ll become repeat customers, and lottery corporations will see higher volume transactions. This panel will examine how to create and distribute content to peak interest among sports fans – to the benefit of lottery corporations across the country. Moderator: Terry Debono, Partner, The Debono Group Panelists: Terry Leiweke, Founding Partner, Absolute Sports; Bruno Rocha, Senior Vice President, The Perform Group; Randy Haynes, Principal, Randy Haynes Associates Ltd.

GAMING BUSINESS TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014

12:10pm - 1:00pm Improving Quality Assurance of Software and Systems WMR 110 The amount of technology utilized in the gaming industry continues to grow at a tremendous rate driven by the overall technology ecosystem around the world. The amount of software (lines of code) used in various computer systems in gaming has been increasing exponentially. Defects and the ensuing corrections to these defects are having a negative impact on all parties. Operators, regulators and software providers need to work together to improve the quality of solutions delivered. This forum will discuss this issue to build awareness and propose an approach and framework to improve the overall reliability, security and functionality of software and systems for the gaming industry.

2:10pm - 3:00pm What Does a Mature Gaming Industry Mean to Provincial Gaming Operators? WMR 109 A discussion of recent trends (and factors behind these trends) impacting provincial gaming industries with a focus on casino and VLT gaming activities and future outlook for these activities based on programs changes that have been/are being implemented across Canada. Speaker: Robert Scarpelli, Managing Director, HLT Advisory Inc.

Speaker: Klaus Peltsch, Director, Architecture and Emerging Technlogy, OLG 2:10pm - 3:00pm Gaming Development Opportunities WMR 114/115 An increasing number of governments around the world are embracing the strong economic benefits that gaming can bring. In North America and Asia in particular, there has been a significant increase in land-based gaming development opportunities. In most cases the development opportunities are in jurisdictions new to gaming or, as in the case of Ontario are a modernization of a government run corporation. Ed Bowers, Sr. Vice-President of Global Gaming Development at MGM Resorts International, will discuss the various jurisdictions and outline the conditions necessary for successful development.

GAMING OPERATIONS TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014

11:10am - 12:00pm Growth of Electronic Table Games WMR 116 An introduction to Electronic Table Games. How Electronic Table games are a growing category that is gaining momentum and is a category of its own which is not comparable to tables or slots. This session will examine the growth and trends of Electronic Table Games worldwide and the impact in Canada. We will discuss the historical benefits of this category and the current trends that are driving new revenue growth. Interaction and discussion are encouraged to learn from others experiences with this category and assess the benefits and pitfalls of Electronic Table Games in Canada.

11:10am-12:00pm Table Analytics & Innovation WMR 111/112 Although table games are measured by the empirical performance of hold percentage, many operators do not understand the dynamics of a game’s “hold” in its many forms. From traditional house-banked games to the rolling tables in Asia, various dynamics of this ubiquitous measurement are explored. Also, a look at how costs and emerging markets are driving innovation. Speaker: Kelvin Morin, Director, Table Games Optimization, Las Vegas Sands Corp

Speakers: Richard Cone, President, Bet Rite; Billy MacLellan, Chief Operating Officer, Bet Rite 12:10pm - 1:00pm After TITO - The Next Technology Wave WMR 116 The economic recovery has been much slower than expected and for brick and mortar casinos, dealing with an aging player base, attracting new Generation Xs and Ys, and building a meaningful online strategy has only amplified the existing financial pressures. In 2014 and beyond, successful casinos will likely have to scramble to differentiate themselves and lure new players through the physical doors of their casino. More importantly, once in the property, casinos will need to both identify these new players and find creative ways to keep them in the casino, extend their play or encourage return visits. Many casinos have a proven marketing strategy to retain their club players, so the true challenge for most will lie with their ability to build and expand their brand loyalty with the untapped new and anonymous players. Moderator: Vic Poleschuk, Great Canadian Corp. Speakers: John Edmunds, Chief Marketing Officer, Future Logic; Patrick Flannery, Senior Director, Aristocrat; Ron Galloway, Senior Director of Product Planning, Bally 2:10pm - 3:00pm Alberta’s Casino Optimization WMR 116 As an industry that always that has been perceived as “recession proof” we are fast becoming archaic and we are not any closer to being the first or second choice for the discretionary dollar. Entertainment options are becoming more sophisticated and people are seeking unique entertainment experiences such as: 3D movies with bigger seats, unique food/beverage services, “ultra” lounges, “gastro” pubs, and nontraditional entertainment options (paint ball, theme dinners with friends etc.). The presentation will provide insight to what the AGLC is doing to address the issues that face us as operators. Speaker: Bob Arnett, Manager Casino Optimization, AGLC

iGAMING TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014 12:10pm - 1:00pm Gaming Convergence - When Players Engage More, We All Win WMR 111/112 When players engage more, we all win. The best strategy is to create content for players on land, online and on the go. IGT has been leading and transforming gaming entertainment for many years, by deploying a proven convergence strategy that involves cross-platform content development and distribution for the benefit of operators and players. Leveraging its rgs server technology, IGT delivers its best-in-class, fan-favorite content that players enjoy on the casino floor, to IGT interactive for online play and to IGT’s DoubleDown Casino in the social casino environment. IGT monetizes its existing game library across all platforms but consumption is moving increasingly toward mobile. True to its pioneering spirit, IGT has responded to this by redesigning its processes to incorporate mobile requirements on the front end of the game development cycle. Speaker: Joe Sigrist, VP of Product Management & Development, IGT

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25, 2014 11:10am - 12:00pm iGaming in New Jersey: They Launched – Now What? WMR 117 Just over six months ago New Jersey became the first U.S. state to offer online gaming, and it happened quickly. It took only nine months from inception to launch. Online gaming is all over the news again, but this time because it’s legally available – and other states are working hard to catch up.

2:10pm - 3:00pm Geolocation: A focus on the NJ Launch WMR 110 The launch of internet gaming in New Jersey in November 2013 not only marked the opening of the largest regulated iGaming market thus far in North America, but also the introduction of the world’s most stringent geolocation requirements. Because a player’s location must be verified in order to play, geolocation technology has become essential to both market success and regulatory compliance. Speaker: Lindsay Kininmonth, Operations Manager, GeoComply USA Inc. 3:10pm - 4:00pm Social Gaming 101: Everything you always wanted to know but didn’t have a clue who to ask WMR 110 You can’t go a day without hearing about social media. Facebook, Twitter, something to do with angry birds - all this and more is social media. But what does it mean when its applied to gaming? In this session we get back to basics and look at social gaming, specifically on social casinos and how social games succeed. Topics such as monetizing a player, retention metrics, and how the science of social is influencing the online casino industry will be covered. Best of call, the secrets of why and how games become blockbusters on social media will be revealed! Panelists: Kenny Huang, CEO, Blue Bat Games; Ron Segev, Partner, Segev-Homenick, LLP; David Chang, CMO, Gamblit

How did New Jersey get its full casino platform up and running so quickly? From a regulatory standpoint, how did the state create its model and solicit and approve operators? If you run a large landbased casino, what opportunities exist in New Jersey – and Delaware and California? Why is online gaming an attractive business option? And from the operations side – where do you even begin? This panel will examine what happened in New Jersey from the regulatory, business and operations perspectives and also look at which other U.S. states will likely come online in 2014/2015. Or will Sheldon Adelson get the best of the industry? Moderator: Troy Ross, President, TRM Consulting Ltd. Panelists: Alan Feldman, Executive Vice President, MGM; Keith Furlong, CEO, Interactive Gaming Council; Dana Takrudtong, Vice President Sales, Game Account Network

In this session, the panelists will provide an overview of the law governing sportsbetting in Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and Australia. Topics will include New Jersey’s appeal of the ban on sports-betting to the US Supreme Court and the status of the Canadian bill to legalize betting on single sports events in Canada. The panel will also address one of the main challenges facing organizations that provide legal sportsbetting activities, namely match-fixing, and the legislative approaches to that problem in the U.K. and Australia. The panel will also address the legal issues arising from “courtsiding” and the arrest of a British national engaged in that activity at the Australian Open in January. SECURITY & SURVEILLANCE The 2014 Security & Surveillance education track consists of topical matters which are relevant to many aspects of gaming operations and focus on the identification and minimization of risks. The subject matter will be presented in such a manner as to highlight the roles, responsibilities and relationships of security and surveillance with those of other departments in order to develop a common understanding and encourage collaboration. The Security & Surveillance educational sessions are developed with and are sponsored by the Gaming Security Professionals of Canada (GSPC) and the track is Chaired by the GSPC’s Executive Director, Gerald Gerald Boose Boose. The GSPC is a pan-Canadian organization, whose membership consists of executives and senior managers in private and public sector organizations who have responsibility for supporting and ensuring the security of gaming operations. Its mandate includes game protection in general and, more particularly, the protection of casino, video lottery, conventional lottery ticket and electronic gaming products and systems.

TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2014 11:10am - 12:00pm Active Shooter Response WMR 117 Utilizing an award winning video of a very realistic, mock scenario we will breakdown the typical occupant mistakes and instinctive reactions that people have if not trained in the basics of what to do in such a volatile situation. The course will outline the elements of a good response plan. Total chaos typically ensues in an active shooter situation. The most critical elements of the plan are effective and timely communication to local public emergency services and simultaneously the communication to all of your facility/property occupants of the existence of the active shooter. Response guidance for your occupants should follow the basic survival protocols for active shooter incidents –get out, hide out, and prepare to take out the shooter as a last resort. Suggestions regarding the development of facility specific response plans, the training for all employees, and the specific training for security and evacuation planners/coordinators will be addressed. Presented by: Rob Shuster, Vice President, Protective Services & Training, FIMAC 12:10pm - 1:00pm Security and Privacy: Stronger Together WMR 117 In May 2013, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) successfully amalgamated its privacy and information security teams and gained significant advantages in both areas. Here, we’ll discuss why the decision to amalgamate was made and what cultural and procedural changes were necessary to make the change a success. You’ll learn the challenges and discoveries that were made when the technical security team became involved in the privacy impact assessment process and how privacy legislation strengthened the information security program. BCLC’s new integrated information privacy and security assessment process will also be presented. This new process allows for faster, more comprehensive privacy and security reviews of new systems and initiatives and is designed to assist business units in understanding the privacy and security risks and opportunities within their projects. Presented by: Angela Swan, Director, Information Privacy & Security, BCLC

3:10pm - 4:00pm E-learning: Anti-Harassment Training for Casinos WMR 116 Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries and Computer Generated Solutions (CGS) have joined forces to develop an Anti-Harassment in the Gaming Industry program with a 2-pronged e-learning approach. The program provides e-learning training for frontline gaming employees and supervisors/managers and can be presented in a fully online format or a blended training approach. Gold of the Desert Kings™ creates an experience in which the difference between activity and productivity can mean life or death, not just success or failure. The vibrant world within this learning experience is simply a parallel for the world we face in Canadian Gaming – a world where planning, gathering resources and goal-directed action, executed within a changing environment, are the keys to maximizing results. Limited to 60 people, this educational event is also a great networking opportunity!
