ATLANTIC CANADA’S PREMIER MEETING DESTINATION

Coming in 2017: We’re opening our doors to the world.

See what’s in store for your delegates: halifaxconventioncentre.com

New Halifax Convention Centre Ready to Welcome the World With a state-of-the art convention centre under construction, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada is redefining what it means to be the ultimate host city when their brand new facility opens its doors in 2017.

The Halifax Convention Centre will feature 120,000 square feet of flexible event space in the heart of downtown, including a spectacular 30,000 square foot Ballroom overlooking the city, nearly 50,000 square feet of multi-purpose convention space, including the Convention Hall, and 40,000 square feet of intimate meeting space. The LEED gold-certified convention centre will begin hosting events in 2017 and excitement and anticipation among event planners continues to build, while preparations to open and operate the new facility are well underway. “The list of national and international clients choosing Nova Scotia’s new Halifax Convention Centre continues to grow,” said Scott Ferguson, president and CEO of Trade Centre Limited, the Crown corporation overseeing the Halifax Convention Centre. “Our team is working diligently to design and implement a service delivery model that meets the evolving needs of our clients so that we can be the best hosts possible when we welcome them in 2017 and beyond.” The convention centre team is working through a collaborative process with clients to identify the key drivers of customer experience. The insight will help the operations and event management teams ensure they are focused on the details that matter most to event planners. Looking at everything from culinary offerings, to technology and wayfinding and efficient service delivery, the Halifax Convention Centre will provide the ultimate event experience. To date, over 40 organizations have already committed to bringing national and international conferences to the new Centre, with thousands

of delegates waiting to experience all that Nova Scotia has to offer. “Nova Scotia is home to some of the world’s leading academic research in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics,” said David Goncalves, executive director of STEM States Incorporated, the organization that manages STEMfest. “We’re excited that our delegates will have the opportunity to experience all that Halifax has to offer, particularly the new state-of-the-art convention centre. It’s a natural fit for our 2018 conference.” The venue will offer much more than a typical conference experience. Just 100 steps from the ocean, delegates are at the doorstep of a vibrant downtown that’s steeped in history and alive with east coast hospitality. Located on Argyle, the flagship street of the entertainment district, the Halifax Convention Centre will offer visitors the chance to immerse themselves in professional development during the day and personal enjoyment after hours with local culture, music and art, outdoor coastal adventure, Michelin-rated food experiences and world-class golf and wineries, all in an unparalleled seaside setting. “We’re very pleased to be coming back to Halifax in 2017 for our 50th Annual Canadian Employee Benefit Conference,” said Michael Wilson, CEO of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. “The new convention centre makes the Foundation’s return possible after too long an absence, and we look forward to seeing an even larger gathering as we celebrate our exciting milestone.”
