The residential projects illustrated focus on the increasingly controversial issue
of working and living in London, with the challenges we now face of a rapidly
growing population brought about by urbanisation, and skyrocketing land prices
that have created a housing crisis. This has directed our work philosophy towards
the use of backland or infill gap sites that are often neglected, being considered as
unsuited for residential use due to many constraints associated with development
in proximity to existing neighbouring homes, such as overlooking, privacy, access,
and building in conservation areas.
