PLAY in the GRID
ZHUYUN (JOY) XU | ID102 Foundation Studio | Spring 2024
My design challenges how we traditionally think about landcape design. Looking at Glenstone grounds, where one is not able to interact with the architecture and art, I’ll extend its experience by providing playful options with landscape, wind and light, by interacting with a grid of movable boxes and changing shades. I will combine glass and wood to create contrast, value and emphasis.
USER NARRATIVE

Connor is a second grade student and a kinesthetic learner, who learns best by touching and feeling things. He is learning different species of plants, and starts to show interest in art. This is why he needs a space to experience plants and art in an interactive way.

Liz is an accountant who loves spending spare time gardening and doing yoga. Her ideal place to do yoga is in nature, but not directly touching the grass because of allergy. That is why she needs a place to get inspired from new gardening ideas, and doing yoga surrounded by nature.
