ANNUAL CLUB CLOSURE DETAILS

Bradenton Country Club will undergo a scheduled maintenance period beginning Monday, July 27 through Monday, August 17, with normal operations resuming on Tuesday, August 18. During this time, several areas of the Club will operate on modified schedules while important improvements and course maintenance are completed.

Administration Office:

The Administration Office will be available Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM should you need assistance or have any questions.

Golf Operations:

The golf course, driving range, and all practice facilities will be closed for the full three-week period.

The Golf Shop will remain open Tuesday through Sunday until 12:00 PM. Members are encouraged to take advantage of our Reciprocal Club Program during this time.

Dining:

The Club restaurant will be closed for the duration of the maintenance period, including both dine-in and takeout service.

Racquet Center:

The Racquet Center will remain open and continue normal operations, along with its regular daily maintenance schedule.

Pool & Fitness Center:

The pool will remain open; however, it will operate as swim-at-your-own-risk with no lifeguard on duty.

The Palm Café will be closed during this time.

The Fitness Center will remain open for member use

In addition to the 3-week closure, please note that Bradenton Country Club will also be fully closed on the following dates for additional course maintenance operations:

Tuesday, June 2

Tuesday, September 15

On these dates, all Club operations and amenities will be closed for the day with the exception of Junior Tennis Camps.

LETTER FROM THE CLUB MANAGER

Dear Members,

As we settle into the heart of summer, July brings a slightly slower pace around the Club. While many members are traveling or spending time with family, our team has been hard at work making improvements and preparing for the busy season ahead

One of the most noticeable additions this month is our new pool furniture, along with new umbrellas and tables. We hope these updates make your time at the pool even more comfortable and enjoyable throughout the remainder of the summer

Out on the golf course, our maintenance team continues to do an outstanding job Despite the ongoing drought conditions, the course remains in excellent shape thanks to their dedication and careful stewardship. We appreciate the hard work they put in each day to provide exceptional playing conditions.

You'll also notice progress on several facility improvements. The new roofs on both the cart barn and golf shop have been completed, an important investment that helps maintain and protect these spaces for years to come.

As a reminder, our annual golf course closure is scheduled for July 27 through August 17. This planned closure allows our Golf Course Maintenance team to complete important projects and maintenance that help keep the course in excellent condition for the year ahead. We appreciate your understanding and support during this time and look forward to welcoming golfers back once the work is complete.

Although this is traditionally our slower season, it's been wonderful seeing so many of you enjoying the Club. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Friday and Saturday events. It's always great to see members and families gathering together, and we appreciate your continued participation and support.

We hope you continue to enjoy the remainder of your summer, and we look forward to seeing you around the Club.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GOLF

Members,

As we move into the heart of summer, July brings with it the familiar challenges of Florida golf: high temperatures, dry stretches, humidity, and the need for extra care both on and off the course.

First and foremost, I encourage all members and guests to stay properly hydrated while enjoying the Club. Whether you are playing 18 holes, practicing on the range, or simply spending time outside, please take advantage of water stations, bring extra fluids, and be mindful of the heat. A little preparation goes a long way toward making your round more enjoyable and safe

I would also like to recognize and thank our Golf Course Maintenance team for their continued hard work through the recent dry and hot weather patterns. Maintaining healthy turf during these conditions requires tremendous effort, timing, and attention to detail The team has put in a tremendous amount of extra work to manage through this drought, and their efforts have made a noticeable difference throughout the property. As you are traversing the course and Club grounds, please take a moment to give the Maintenance team a little extra thanks. Their dedication and pride in caring for Bradenton Country Club do not go unnoticed.

Thank you as well to the membership for your continued compliance with our driving range policies Your cooperation has helped us maintain a safe and productive practice environment for everyone. I appreciate the respect shown toward the guidelines and ask that everyone continue to help preserve the quality and safety of the range.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GOLF CONT.

I would also like to congratulate all of our participants in the Summer MemberMember. Forty-eight players enjoyed a warm but beautiful morning of competition in a two-person format featuring a Two-Man Scramble on the front nine and Modified Alternate Shot on the back nine. Following play and a buffet lunch in the South & North Grilles, seven teams advanced to the Shootout: the five flight winners plus the two lowest-scoring teams that did not win their flight After all seven teams made par on the opening Shootout hole, George Girouard hit an excellent iron shot to approximately seven feet on the second hole, where his partner, George Zulanas, confidently made the birdie putt to capture Overall Champion honors. Congratulations to George and George on a fantastic finish!

As we continue through the summer season, I would also like to highlight the importance of pace of play and proper etiquette when allowing faster groups to play through. If your group is holding up play and there is an open hole ahead, you are expected to promptly allow the faster group behind you to pass. The group being passed should initiate this process rather than waiting for the group behind to ask.

When allowing a group to play through, communication and safety are key. Please make sure all players are aware of the plan before waving another group forward. Ideally, this should take place on a par-3 or along an open fairway stretch where it is clear, safe, and easy for both groups to proceed without confusion.

Proper pace of play and courteous on-course etiquette help create a better experience for the entire membership. Thank you for continuing to do your part in keeping Bradenton Country Club enjoyable, safe, and respectful for all.

AGRONOMY UPDATE

Dear Members,

As I sit here writing this newsletter on the last day of June, it is difficult to think of anything else other than the "rainy season" that hasn't been! We have had two rainfall events in the month of June for a grand total of 0.85" of rain this month. Considering the average rainfall for the month of June is typically 7-8" you can see that we have been at a disadvantage trying to battle Mother Nature. I am filing this away under the "be careful what you wish for" heading but boy, could we use some rain! With that being said, I am happy with the overall turf conditions of the course as we head into July.

June was another busy month for golf course maintenance. We had our first official two-day closure for maintenance on the 1 and 2 and during this time we performed a 5/8” core aeration and heavy sand topdressing. We also incorporated several vertical mowings as the greens were healing. The process went very well and by the 3 week post-aeration we were seeing the greens get back to normal ball roll. I am very pleased with the health and overall quality of our putting greens considering the stress they have been under with this abnormal weather pattern.

The tees and fairways continue to respond well on their twice-monthly foliar spray plan. Our acid injection system is also performing as advertised! With the lack of rainfall (have I mentioned that already?) the acid injection allows us to see a big benefit on our short cut turf, as the treated water allows availability of nutrients in the soil to reach the plant, that would be otherwise unavailable at higher pH. Science! One small footnote to the lack of rain is that we are running our irrigation system more frequently than a typical June, so as a result we are using more of the acid product, but the results speak for themselves.

The new tee posts and signage have been installed, and I think they are a welcome addition to our course presentation. During our closure we will be taking in all the fairway entry/exit posts and getting them sanded and painted to match that darker brown color. While we are on that subject, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for doing their best to adhere to our traffic routing patterns. It makes such a huge difference and I thank you!

We have two large course improvements on tap for July. The first is an irrigation system upgrade. We are adding approximately 80 sprinkler heads of various sizes around the course to fill in some voids where we do not have very good coverage. These areas are primarily around greens and tees and other highly playable areas. This work will begin during our 3-week closure and will be completed by the time the course opens again in August. The other big improvement will be a piece of much-needed equipment. We are purchasing a tow-behind articulating rotary rough mower! This will allow us to maintain our rough at a lower overall height and also provide better playability and density from the rotary blades as opposed to cutting all our rough with reel/bedknife mowers. Both projects will provide tangible benefits almost immediately and I am grateful to the club and the Board for giving us the tools to make BCC even better!

RACQUET SPORTS UPDATE

Members,

Summer is officially halfway through, and the energy around the club has been fantastic.

Remarkably, we have had zero racquet sports events or clinics rained out so far this summer. In a Florida June, that feels like a minor miracle. I’m currently checking with management to see if we can officially list "guaranteed perfect weather" as a member amenity.

Junior Summer Camps Are Buzzing:

Our summer camp is in full swing, and the courts are alive with the incredible energy that the kids bring. The kids are having an absolute blast, refining their skills, swiming in the pool and staying active. We still have spots available for the upcoming weeks, so if you would like to get your kids or grandchildren out on the courts, we would love to host them.

Adult Clips & Programming:

On the adult side of the house, Mixed Mondays and our weekend clinics are rockin' right now! Thank you to everyone who has been coming out and bringing the heat week after week.

While many of our core programs are going strong through the summer months, a few of our usual slots have been a bit less active than I would like to see. If you are looking for more opportunities to get out and play but haven't found the right fit on the current schedule, please reach out to me directly. I am always happy to help and would love to see what we can get set up to keep you moving.

Looking Ahead:

As much as we are all quietly looking forward to that eventual cooler weather and the return of our wonderful seasonal members, there is still plenty of fun to be had on the courts right now. Don't let the summer pass you by without getting some swings in!
