ANNUAL CLUB CLOSURE DETAILS

Bradenton Country Club will undergo a scheduled maintenance period beginning Monday, July 27 through Monday, August 17, with normal operations resuming on Tuesday, August 18. During this time, several areas of the Club will operate on modified schedules while important improvements and course maintenance are completed.

Administration Office:

The Administration Office will be available Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM should you need assistance or have any questions.

Golf Operations:

The golf course, driving range, and all practice facilities will be closed for the full three-week period.

The Golf Shop will remain open Tuesday through Sunday until 12:00 PM. Members are encouraged to take advantage of our Reciprocal Club Program during this time.

Dining:

The Club restaurant will be closed for the duration of the maintenance period, including both dine-in and takeout service.

Racquet Center:

The Racquet Center will remain open and continue normal operations, along with its regular daily maintenance schedule.

Pool & Fitness Center:

The pool will remain open; however, it will operate as swim-at-your-own-risk with no lifeguard on duty.

The Palm Café will be closed during this time.

The Fitness Center will remain open for member use

In addition to the 3-week closure, please note that Bradenton Country Club will also be fully closed on the following dates for additional course maintenance operations:

Tuesday, June 2

Tuesday, September 15

On these dates, all Club operations and amenities will be closed for the day with the exception of Junior Tennis Camps.

LETTER FROM THE CLUB MANAGER

Dear Members,

As we move into the summer season, I would like to take a moment to thank each of you for your patience and understanding during the recent roof construction project at the Cart Barn and Golf Shop We recognize that projects of this nature can create temporary inconveniences, and we greatly appreciate your flexibility and support as we continue investing in the long-term improvement of our Club facilities.

With summer now underway, I am excited about the return of our seasonal summer hours and the many opportunities to enjoy the Club in a more relaxed atmosphere. From poolside activities to our refreshed Palm Café offerings, we have worked hard to create a fun and enjoyable summer experience for members and their families. We hope you'll take advantage of everything the Club has to offer throughout the coming months.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new Maintenance Director, Alex Rodriguez. Alex brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team, and we are excited to have him leading the maintenance and upkeep of our beautiful Club. Please join me in welcoming him when you see him around the property.

As many of you have noticed, we have recently added new outdoor games for members and their guests to enjoy. These additions were made possible through the efforts and support of our House Committee, and we are grateful for their commitment to enhancing the member experience. We ask for your assistance in helping us maintain these amenities, along with the cleanliness and condition of our pool facilities and restrooms. A little extra care from all of us goes a long way in preserving these spaces for everyone's enjoyment.

Finally, I would like to remind all members and guests to observe and respect the Club's pool rules throughout the season. These guidelines are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all. We also ask that everyone wear appropriate swim attire while utilizing the pool facilities. Thank you for your continued support of Bradenton Country Club. We look forward to an exciting and enjoyable summer season with all of you.

LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GOLF

Members,

As we move into the summer months, we are excited to share a few updates from the Golf Shop. Titleist has released the new GTS fairway wood line, and we are looking forward to showcasing this outstanding new product to our membership. The demo clubs are now in the Golf Shop, and we encourage anyone interested to stop by and take a closer look. We also have upcoming Titleist fitting days scheduled, which will be a great opportunity to test the new GTS line and work with a fitting professional to find the right setup for your game.

In apparel, we are pleased to share that we have received Peter Millar Featherweight for the summer season. These pieces are ideal for the warmer months and are a great addition to the shop as temperatures continue to rise.

As is typical for the summer season, our monthly merchandise drops will begin to taper off until October. That said, please keep in mind that we are always happy to special order exceptional selections for you throughout the summer If there is something you are looking for, our team would be glad to assist.

Looking ahead to the fall, we are excited to add Holderness & Bourne and American Needle to our men’s offerings in the Golf Shop. We will also be sending a survey to our lady golfing members to gather feedback on which new brands you would most like to see added for the women this fall. We appreciate your continued support of the Golf Shop and look forward to helping you enjoy a great summer at the Club.

AGRONOMY UPDATE

Dear Members,

Hello all, and welcome to my first edition of the golf course maintenance newsletter! My first 6 weeks as Golf Course Superintendent have flown by! Jamie and my existing staff have done a tremendous job in bringing me up to speed, and while I feel much more at home than when I started, I still am learning every day about the ins and outs of this beautiful property that I am fortunate enough to call my office I am very excited to see where we can take Bradenton Country Club!

May was an incredibly busy month for golf course maintenance We completed our first verticutting of the putting greens early in May, followed by an aggressive topdressing. This practice is important for two reasons: managing the thatch at the very top of the profile and mitigating some of the grain by “standing up” the Bermuda Some of you may have noticed a slight reduction in putting green speed following this process This is partially from the verticutting process, and also partially due to being at the end of a long, hot, droughty season. Our greens are ready for some summer cultivation! We were also able to fertilize the entire golf course wall to wall with a slow release Fertilizer that will provide us with color and slow growth during the summer growing season

June will be another busy month for golf maintenance. As we head into our first summer aerification, I am extremely happy with the health, density, and color of our putting surfaces This is very important as it allows the greens to recover from aerification in a timely manner During our closure June 1-2, we will be pulling a 5/8'” core and backfilling the holes with sand. This process not only removes excess organic matter from the profile but provides channels for air, water, and nutrient movement to the roots A necessary evil to ensure quality putting surface for the entire year We will also have our annual mole cricket and fire ant abatement treatments applied during this brief closure.

We continue to chase weeds, specifically the spotted spurge, from all areas of the course This nasty weed proliferates mostly around our bunker faces, green banks, and tee banks. Anywhere where the turf is “not competing” that’s where the spurge takes hold! We have even started manually removing this weed in areas where the density was affecting the quality of the Bermuda underneath Between the manual removal, the post-emergent spraying and the application of properly timed pre-emergent herbicides, we will get rid of this unsightly visitor once and for all!

Our nematode areas in the fairways are responding nicely to the spot treatments and we will continue to cultivate those areas (verticut, slice, aerate) and spot treat as needed to ensure playable surfaces all summer long.

We have an exciting lineup of programs running right now thoughtfully scheduled before and after the heat of the day. Whether you are looking to improve your game or socialize, we want to ensure every member feels personally invited to jump in, connect with neighbors, and enjoy the action.

Junior Summer Camp: A Sport for Life

Our Summer Camp is officially underway and running every single week throughout June and July! We are so excited to see new faces on the courts and introduce the next generation to a sport they can play and love for a lifetime. If you haven't registered your juniors yet, there is still time to get them involved in the action!

Mixed Mondays: Keep the Momentum Going!

Mixed Mondays is off to a great start! This program is all about community, fun, and great matches to kickstart your week. We want to keep the momentum going, so grab your gear and join us this coming Monday!

Pickleball Updates & Coaching:

To help create the most high-energy atmosphere possible, we have streamlined our club organized pickleball offerings to concentrate players into larger sessions. If you are looking for extra court time or want to sharpen your skills, Jay is available for clinics, semi-private, and private lessons upon request. Just reach out to book a session tailored to your game.
