Success Stories!

DID YOU KNOW? We have a “Did You Know? blog on our website at https://www.rhspca.org/ did-you-know. This blog covers a variety of animal welfare related topics like what to do if you come across possibly orphaned wildlife, the debate about indoor/ outdoor cats, what a day in the life is like at the shelter, and more.

Longest Resident, Nom Nom Bigfoot Adopted! Nom Nom Bigfoot, a two year old bluetick hound mix, called the shelter his home for 316 days. He came to the shelter in October 2017 as a stray. While he was here staff learned he loved tennis balls, that he loved to sun himself outside on his bed, and he let his nose lead him wherever he wanted to go. Nom Nom went on several field trips on adoption showcases and participated in a hound around town day. He developed quite a following on our social media. During our Back to School adoption special in August, Nom Nom was saved by the bell! On the last day of the event, this longtime student of the shelter graduated! He will now enjoy the companionship of his new fur-sister in his forever home. You can now fundraise for the RockinghamHarrisonburg SPCA through Facebook. Create a fundraiser for your birthday or special occasion and share with your friends. We greatly appreciate the support!

Shy kitty, Tip, finds the right fit! Tip, a seven year old silver tabby, spent about three months with us before finding her forever home! She was known for hiding under her mound of blankets but slowing started to gain trust and some fresh air. This nice couple recognized her sweet nature and took her home in July.

162 adoptions since the last newsletter! (May 15 - August 30)

We are in need of some items! During the summer months there is a lot of moisture that enters our building which causes problems with neccesary equipment. Having two dehumidifers would be very helpful to our organization whether they are new or used. Another wishlist item is Kuranda beds for our doggies and kitties. If you walk around the shelter you will see pretty much any animal using these beds. Our current ones are old, dirty, and beat up. Visit https://kuranda.com/ donate/5098 to donate a Kuranda bed. As always, we are in need of volunteers and fosters to join our team in helping the homeless, orphaned animals in our community. Learn more at rhspca.org.
