Dwell Initiative Overview

Primary Goal

100% ENGAGEMENT

If you call Redemption Hill Church home, we would love for you to join us on this exploration in the Dwell Initiative, trusting that God has something for each one of us as we give ourselves first to the Lord (2 Cor. 8:1-5).

INFLUENCE What influence does Jesus have in my life? How am I influencing the people around me?

LIFESTYLE Does my lifestyle reflect the values of Christ’s Kingdom? Am I more focused on the eternal, or on temporary desires?

GENEROSITY How is God inviting me to grow in generosity as an expression of trust, gratitude, and putting Him first?

LEGACY What do I want my legacy to be? What has my life contributed to? What will I be remembered for?

GIVING OURSELVES FIRST TO THE LORD

We want you to know, brothers and sisters, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to us.

2 CORINTHIANS 8:1-5

Paul told the church in Corinth the story of the churches in Macedonia. These churches were going through a severe trial and were in extreme poverty, yet they were able to give beyond their ability, on their own accord, and with rich generosity. How?

“They gave themselves first to the Lord.”

Our hope is that every person who calls Redemption Hill home will seriously explore what it means to give ourselves first to the Lord. Not first to our comfort, security, spreadsheets, or fears, but first to the Lord.

Secondary Goal

$4 MILLION

As we all take personal journeys in generosity, we are hopeful that it will provide the resources we need to expand gospel ministry in our city and open the door to the possiblity of establishing a long-term home for Redemption Hill Church.

MINISTRY & MISSION | $2M

As we all take personal journeys in generosity, we are hopeful that it will provide the resources we need to expand gospel ministry in our city and open the door to the possiblity of establishing a long-term home for Redemption Hill Church.

We will continue to glorify God through gospel-centered worship, gospelshaped community, and gospel-driven work in our city. We will continue to be shaped by gracious hospitality, unified diveristy, and empowered members as we work to reach and reflect DC. $1.8M is needed for our operations and ministry over the next two years.

• Gathering each Sunday to worship and hear from God’s Word • Teaching our children the good news of Jesus • Discipling one another through Community Groups • Meeting needs in our community through our mercy and justice outreach and partnering with like minded ministries

We will invest $200k outside of Redemption Hill to invest into church plants across the nation and the world. Redemption Hill will also work to establish new partnerships and expand the current residency program to help train church planters.

A DWELLING PLACE | $2M

For Redemption Hill to have a chance to have a permanent home, we will need to have enough for a down payment and initial costs. $2M will go toward the goal of giving our church a home to Dwell, as An Enduring & Faithful Presence and gospel outpost - a legacy that will outlive us all. Exceeding this goal will only help toward that goal.

A long-term, 24/7 facility that we can call “home” will allow us to reach and reflect DC more fully through gathering, reach out through serving, reach more through growing, and reach far through sending.

This includes:

• A dedicated space where we can gather for worship on Sundays, where we can be discipled through God’s Word and sent to live attractively different lives in our homes, jobs, and neighborhoods

• A fun, clean, and safe environment to effectively teach our children the gospel and reach kids in our community through special events like preschool co-op or kids camps

• The opportunity to gather together for any purpose at any time throughout the year

• A venue where we can host community events throughout the week and meet the needs of those in the neighborhood and the surrounding areas

• A more established place and presence to become a hub for training church planters

• Becoming an established and known presence amongst our neighbors (plus, we could finally serve coffee!)
