The RGS Today Monday 18 May 2020 Issue 454

General Reminders Sports Fixture: After the success of our first-ever remote fixture, we are diving into the world of virtual competition once again in order to enable you to represent your school in sport! This event is bigger and better and is open to all students. During Monday to Wednesday this week, starting today, we will take on five schools from across Surrey, Hampshire and Yorkshire in an inter-schools’ athletics competition. To compete you may run either a 1KM or 3KM distance (or both) and submit your time via the link on my email. Times / distances must be submitted by midnight on Wednesday 20 May so that we can post team and individual results by Friday 22 May. The schools competing are: RGS Guildford; Guildford High School; Weydon School; Perins School; Bradford Grammar School and Priestlands School. Participation in this event will be your weekly challenge for this week; please make every effort to take part (a good use of your core PE lesson or Games time). I would love for our participation numbers to be even larger than before. Best of luck #RGSTogether (GDGC). From the Senior Prefects: A reminder to all students and staff to take part in this week’s Senior Prefect Challenge: the Stay Connected Challenge. You need to send in a photo of you staying connected with your friends. The best entries will feature in The RGS Last Week. You have until 4.00pm on Monday to send in your pictures to Christian Moody: 8640@rgsg.co.uk . We look forward to seeing the creative ways you’ve found to stay connected this week. Leavers’ Testimonials: A reminder that the extended deadline for submission of Leavers’ Testimonials by members of the Upper Sixth Form is tomorrow, Tuesday 19, at 9.00am. See my email for further details. Thank you (NWG). A Night with the Stars 1 & 2!: Thank you to every single one of you who sent such kind words of support or made such generous donations to the SMT Sleep Out. At the time of writing, the event has raised well in excess of £6,000 for the young people’s homeless charity Centrepoint. Reaching the £6,000 figure meant that the Headmaster agreed to do a second night out (Sunday night). For photographs take a look at the RGS social media channels; to make a donation, however small, please click on this link: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rgs-smt
