The RGS Today Monday 11 May 2020 Issue 449
General Reminders Sports Fixture: Thank you to every single one of you who competed in the inaugural remote sporting fixture against KCS Wimbledon and Caterham School at the end of last week. Over 200 of you participated and despite being separated geographically, there was a great sense of togetherness and community as the results and photos came flooding in. In terms of participation, the RGS had by far the highest representation of the three schools; this was by some margin the biggest team the RGS has ever fielded in any sporting fixture, so congratulations to all those who are now part of RGS history and folklore (GDGC)! Photography Competition: The deadline for this year’s competition is Monday 1 June. Our theme of My World provides the opportunity for you creatively to capture in a photograph anything from beautiful spring flowers blossoming in your garden, to wildlife in your garden, to objects or snapshots which just capture your eye at home. We want your photograph to capture this sense of positivity and joy. Our competition will also raise much-needed funds for Shooting Star Chase, our school-nominated local charity; if you felt able to donate, please do so via this link: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rgsphotography2020 A Night with the Stars!: This Saturday, the RGS SMT, including Headmaster Dr Cox, will be swapping the comfort of their beds, pillows and duvets for a night out with – and under – the stars. In an act of remote solidarity, the SMT will all be eating and sleeping out in their gardens on the same night. ‘Live’ photographic evidence will be provided on social media of the SMT as they eat outside, settle down for the night and – even more alarming – images of early morning bed-hair and grumpy faces as they emerge for their first cup of tea/coffee next morning #WarmHeartsColdToes #RGSTogether. This event will raise much-needed funds for Centrepoint, the UK's leading youth homelessness charity. Centrepoint supports over 15,000 young people every year, helping vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Please see the video in The RGS Last Week sent out on Tuesday and available on Stream for more details. You have until 4.00pm today to send in your videos to Joe Field: 8523@rgsg.co.uk . It would be great as always to have entries from across the School, and the best attempts will be featured in The RGS Last Week. Good luck and we look forward to seeing your efforts!
