ISSUE 48 TRINITY 2025

Rose-tinted spectacles may be a factor but for most of us summer terms at school are evocative of so many powerful memories for all the senses. The sound of cricket ball & willow, summer dress regulations coming into effect, the energy of Sports Day, even the anxiety felt before that first exam, & certainly the euphoria felt as a successful set of exams drew to a close, all served as a reminder of how the Trinity Term traditionally cements so many memories which stay with students for the rest of their lives. And so it is only fitting that this term’s edition of The Register unashamedly celebrates the joy of tradition & routine, community & friendship, laughter & fun.

The beginning of term reminds us that friendship & togetherness are the foundations on which success is built.

The theme of this year’s House photography competition was Community with three categories: unedited, digitally manipulated & short film.

Students participated in a range of drama productions from exam performances, to the House Mime & Drama competitions supported by senior students, staff, & professionals.

Just beautiful weather conditions for the sports team photographs in the historic setting of the courtyard: sunshine & smiles all round.

The five Field Days throughout the year –in which the teaching is suspended for the day –provide opportunities by land, on water & in the air.

Friendship, camaraderie, working together is a key component of our co-curricular programme.

A whole host of trips saw students immersing themselves in a wealth of opportunities outside the classroom as they challenged, stretched & amused themselves!

The immaculately prepared wickets at Bradstone Brook provided the setting for a succession of individual & team highlights across the age-groups, as well as sportsmanship & smiles in equal measure.

The Leavers’ Ceremony, our graduation ceremony for the Class of 2025, at Holy Trinity preceded the start of the glittering RGS Leavers’ Ball: a fitting send-off for an amazing year group.

A sparkling finale as the Class of 2025 signed off with a bang, as the Old Building & Guildford’s night sky were lit up in celebration.

We welcomed to Guildford students from many of our international schools, including RGSG Dubai earlier this term, as they found out more about the School & local area.

Always a pleasure to see so many Old Guildfordians kindly & generously giving of their time to return to speak to, & inspire, our students…

…or simply to reconnect & reminisce at one of our old boy events.

As the lights go out on another academic year, 2025 will be forever ingrained in our memories, and on our phones!

Thank you to every single individual – students and parents, staff and governors, and the wider community alike – who have contributed so much to this Trinity Term, as participation and opportunity, camaraderie and enjoyment remained very much at the heart of our ethos. The old adage is, indeed, true: school days really are the best days of your life!
