Trips & Enrichment

Introduction

Throughout the year, in addition to the curriculum, RGS Prep pupils benefit from taking part in a range of trips and a plethora of visits providing them with invaluable educational experiences and enrichment opportunities.

The vast majority of workshops and trips are included within the fees. Activities Week attracts an additional charge which varies by year group. This is split across the year and added to the termly bill.

Workshops

Pupils across all year groups participate in workshops provided by external companies. These workshops range from animal handling (for our Pre-Prep pupils), drama, run by reputable companies including the Young Shakespeare Co, STEM workshops and in an ever-increasingly technological world, Online Safety workshops for all year groups.

Inspire Programme

Inspire is an annual programme unique to RGS Prep. It was conceived on the premise that every pupil who attends the school, should have the opportunity to try whatever it is that most speaks to their interests. It complements our extensive enrichment programme, supporting how we tailor our teaching and learning for every individual.

Throughout the year, we run a programme of activities to help our pupils discover their passions. Some of the many activities pupils have participated in include coding and flying drones; making terrariums; rock climbing; forensics lab; stop frame animation; football tricks; skateboarding; an immersive space experience and animal handling.

Activities Week

A highlight of the RGS Prep calendar, which takes place every year in the Lent Term, is Activities Week. During this week, pupils from Year 3 upwards, take part in residential trips across Britain. Recent residential trips include camping at Polesden Lacey, Bushcraft in Blenheim Woods, Lagoona Park and Buddens Activity Centre.

Activities Week is also packed with an array of workshops including circus skills, animal explorer, escape room, dance, and engineering. Beyond the workshops, there have been day trips to Brooklands Museum, Unicorn Theatre, Bocketts Farm, the Science Museum, Gatton Park, Ufton Court and Sayers Croft – the itinerary changes each year.

Other Trips

Outside of Activities Week, there are a variety of trips available for each year group. These include visits to Harry Potter Studios, art galleries, museums, activity centres and the theatre.

Optional trips include an annual football tour and Years 4, 5 and 6 can also choose to participate in an annual ski trip to France.
