MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023 OPENING SESSION AND OPENING WORSHIP The opening of the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference began with praise and worship brought by the Piedmont Annual Conference Praise Team. At 8:07 am, the 113th Session of the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference, under the leadership of the 125th Elected and Consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bishop Samuel Lawrence Green, Sr. and Dr. Phyllis N. Green, Episcopal Supervisor, was called to order. Bishops, Supervisors, General Officers, Connectional Officers, Presiding Elders, Pastors, Spouses, and visiting leaders remained masked up and ready to go to the Greenville Convention Center, hosted by Allen Temple AME Church in the foothills of South Carolina. Reverend James E. Speed, Sr. is the host, Pastor. The great gathering of the conference proclaimed, “Releasing The Power Within!” Bishop Samuel L Green. Sr. Welcomed everyone to the 113 th session of the Piedmont annual conference and requested the proposed organization of the conference. Presiding Elder Judy M. Bishop shared the structure of the Triers of Appeals. If you serve on the Judicial Committee your names are removed and the remaining Itinerant Elders can served as jurors. The person accused and the Chair of the Judicial Committee, representing the church or the Conference, will draw 12 names out of the box of eligible Itinerant Elders in the Conference. The Secretary reads the name of those pulled. Both parties can strike any name not agreed upon, but 12 must be selected. Those are referred to the Triers Committee, and then the trial is held. Both parties can bring their attorney. The jurors will go into deliberation. If found guilty, this is when the decision can be appealed. Then you take Triers of Appeals from this Conference and two contiguous Conferences which would be from the South Carolina and Columbia Conference. Five from both of those Conferences and the Triers of Appeals from this Conference would make up the panel. Then out of the 15, the persons selected will be members of the Appellate panel to hear the case. The only information discussed in the trial can be argued but no new information or witnesses can be presented. The person can have his/her attorney make a statement as to what transpired or violated the law of the Church. Those on the Appellate panel will determine if the appeal is granted or not granted. If the person is still not satisfied you have one more level to appeal to and that is the Judicial Council. If you are still not satisfied, then the person can wait 4 years and appeal to the General Conference. Presiding Elder Dr. Derrick Scott offered the digital conference booklet to be our guide for the Annual Conference. Sigman. The motion was carried. Presiding Elder Judy M. Richardson thanked the Bishop for serving as the Conference Chair. Bishop called for transfers. Bishop acknowledged that Reverend Dr. Katherine Allen transferred back to the Piedmont Conference from the Central Conference. The following were transferred out of the Conferences: Reverend Dr. Courtney Colleton and Reverend Furman Miller, Sr. Bishop Green, Sr. welcomed home the Executive Director of Christian Education, Dr. Garland Pierce. Dr. Pierce greeted the conference and thanked us for our support. Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr. then called for the Presiding Elder’s Summary Reports. Presiding Elder Judy M. Bishop Green asked Presiding Elder Judy M. Richardson to give remarks. Presiding Elder Richardson thanked Bishop Green for allowing her to continue with Zoom meeting while

she recovered. Elder Richardson shared with the Conference to not take the doctor’s death sentence because God has the last word. Elder Richardson asked the Greenville District to stand in which she shared her gratitude for her support. Bishop shared with Elder Richardson that everyone needs an opportunity to get well. The Bishop shared with the Conference to take care of yourselves and your bodies. You are the temple of God.

Bishop Green asked Presiding Elder Dr. Derrick Scott to give remarks. Presiding Elder Dr. Derrick Scott thanked Bishop Green for the opportunity to serve along with the change agents and the great members of Abbeville-Greenwood District. Elder Scott also shared the great opportunity to serve alongside his colleague, Area Consultant Sister Twanna “Cookie” Scott. Bishop shared his retirement in 2036. It seems closer now. Out of his 20 years as the Bishop in the AME, his best years have been in the 7th Episcopal District. The people are loving and friendly. He is coming from a fast paced and energetic district. Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr. called for the report of the Board of Examiners. Reverend Roland E.D. Sigman, Chair of the Board of Examiners greeted the Conference and presented Reverend Lebbie Ligon who presented the candidates as follows: THE REPORT FOR THE CLASS ON ADMISSIONS Brother Tyron A. Bishop Green, Sr. stated he would pay the advanced portion over $9000 that she had already paid. Bishop further stated he would pay her next semester as well. Bishop stated he had some reservations and stated this is not a playground. He further stated he would be dealing with the real souls of real people. He wanted to make sure only Jesus walked on water and the rest of us walked on the group. He is concerned and wants to deal with it head on in front of the Conference. Don’t take for granted a Bishop’s approval of you as a stamp for you to do what you want to do. Bishop stated he was going at him hard so he could break him so God could make you. Humble is the way. MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE THURSDAY NOVEMBER 2, 2023 OPENING WORSHIP SERVICE At 10:45 a.m., the Opening Worship Service of the 113 th Session of the Piedmont Annual Conference began with Presiding Elder Judy M. Richardson of the Greenville District who served as the Worship Leader. The services were moving and inspirational as the conference Praise Team sung from their souls’ renditions of" God of Grace and God of Mercy", “Are We Yet Alive”, “For Your Mercy towards us” I’m going to see what the ends going to be” Reverend Dr. Julius Johnson took his text from Mark 9:2-5; his subject: “Being In God’s Space” Have you ever been on the mountain top? God leads you and will bless your church. He leads me in the path of righteousness for his namesake. God will cover your children in your righteousness when you walk with God. Do not do this work by yourself. God will place

a covering over your children. I am going to talk with Jesus and tell them about the goodness of the Lord. Take folks who have a passion for God’s choice. God will always lead us to the promised church. Choose some men to help you fight the battle. There is something about a mountain experience. Pastors, you can’t fight this battle by yourself. Make sure your Stewards are on this side of God. Help him hold up the banner of God and He will see you through. Lift up your heads. Who is this King of glory?—the Lord almighty. We then received the Holy Communion where Bishop Green served as the Chief Celebrant. The conference was dismissed for the lunch break. Announced time to reconvene is 3:00 PM.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023 BUSINESS SESSION 2 The afternoon session of the 113 th session of the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference convened at 3:28 pm with Bishop Samuel L. Green Sr. presiding. Bishop presented the following: Candidate for Bishop, Dr. Keith Lawrence from 1st AME Church of Atlanta and Director of Doctoral Program at Dickerson Green Seminary at Allen University. Slogan: Leading with Lawrence. Candidate for Bishop, Dr. Ronnie L. Clark, Pastor of Hearst Chapel in Florida from the 11th District, served in the West Coast Conference and assisted with Bishop Green’s campaign. C=Community Activity, L=Liberation, A=Administrator, R=Resourceful, K=Kingdom Builder. Dr. Ronnie Slaughter, St. James in Newark New Jersey, came to get Bishop accumulated to some cool weather. Bishop thanked the guests for coming to the 7th Episcopal District and for not taking the smaller conference for granted. Bishop Green called for the Presiding Elder’s Salary and Upkeep report. Reverend James Speed, Sr., Chair of the report read the Presiding Elders Salary and Upkeep report. The recommendation is no increase in both of the presiding elders salary for the 2023-2024. The Motion to approve was made by Reverend Adam China and seconded by Reverend Roland E. D. Sigman. Motion carried. Bishop Green called for the Incorporation of Church Property. Reverend George Oliver read the report. With the recommendations, A Motion to approve was made by Reverend Roland E.D. Sigman and seconded by Reverend James Louden III. Motion carried.

Bishop Green called for the Social Action report read by Reverend Carroll Wells, Jr. With the recommendations. The Motion to approve was made by Reverend Beatrice O. Coleman and seconded by Reverend James Louden III. Motion carried. Bishop Green called for the Conference Trustee report read by Reverend Judy M. Richardson, presented no one appeared before the Board. Motion to receive as information Elder Dr. Derrick Scott and seconded by Reverend Adam China. Motion carried. Bishop Green called for the Chaplain report read by Reverend Sarah E. Williams. A Motion to receive the report as information was made by Elder Judy M. Richardson and Seconded by Reverend Lebbie Ligon. Motion carried.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2023 SONS OF ALLEN WITNESS WORSHIP SERVICE At 4:14 p.m. The Worship Service of the 113th Session of the Piedmont Annual Conference began with Reverend Melton Aiken of the Greenville District who served as the Worship Leader. Presiding Elder Dr. Derrick Scott presented the preacher for the hour, Reverend Patrick Mellerson, Pastor of Glovers AME Church. Reverend Patrick Mellerson's message was “I have something to shout about”. St. Luke 17:11-19 . God is not nervous when you say Hallelujah. God is not nervous when you say praise the Lord. When you're talking about your favorite team, you're not quiet, so why should you be quiet in the church? You want everybody to know what team you are supporting but I want you to know I'm not ashamed to testify about the goodness of the Lord. When I think of what the Lord has done for me as I look back over my life and see where God has brought me from. I’ve got something to shout about. You’ve got something to shout about when God hears your cries. It was nobody but the Lord who answered my prayer. God will provide. God has brought you from a mighty long way. I will bless the Lord at all times. Every time He let us live. You got something to shout about. You are still here so you’ve got something to shout about. Every time He looks at you and reminds you are not where you’ve been. Every time you were put to sleep for surgery and woke up, you’ve got something to shout about. If God blessed you all year long, you can sing the song, Are We Yet Alive. Do you have something to shout about? The service concluded until 7:00 pm for the Lay worship Service.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE THURSDAY , NOVEMBER 2, 2023 LAY WITNESS WORSHIP SERVICE The Lay Witness Worship began promptly at 7:03 pm with the Piedmont South Carolina Conference Ensemble. Sister Jacqueline Goggins led the conference into worship serving as the worship Leader for the evening. Presiding Elder Judy M. Richardson presented the preacher for the hour, Reverend Clifford Jackson, Pastor of Bethel Anderson AME Church, Anderson, SC. Reverend Clifford Jackson’s message was “The dissatisfied workers”. Matthew 20:11. We grumble when we see God blessing someone else and we feel it should fall to us. God has no respect for a person that believes such. These workers felt they were better than the others. We in the church act the same way because we serve on a board for 20+ years and feel our name should be called over and over again. God owns it all. It is God who gives us our assignment. He places us in the vineyard as he sees fit. When we get our assignment we can’t give it to someone else. They could not accept the goodness of God. The question was asked… “Don’t I have a right to do what I want with what is mine?” We have been called to work together. Yet we fuss and fight amongst each other. He is calling for us to change. God is a just God. If you’ve done nothing you will receive nothing. We don’t deserve the grace that He extends to us. Everything we have, God has given it to us. We can’t get mad for what God does for someone else. God has made a way for you to receive the most precious gift of eternal life. MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2023 BUSINESS SESSION NO. 3 Bishop Samuel L. Green. Sr. called for the approval of the minutes that captured the events on Thursday, November 2, 2023. Annual Conference Secretary, Sister Renae Frazier informed Bishop Green a draft of Day 1 minutes was emailed to all conference leadership, Pastors, and Delegates on last evening around 8:47pm. The Bishop congratulated the secretarial staff for the excellent job. Bishop said he has never gotten the Day 1 minutes before dinner. Motion to approve was made by Sister Renae Frazier and seconded by Elder Judy M. Richardson. Motion carried. Bishop Green called for the Annuity and Investments report read by Reverend James Louden, III. With the recommendations, the Motion to approve was made by Reverend Roland Sigman and seconded by Reverend Dr. Julius Johnson. Motion carried. Bishop Green called for the Classification of Pastors report read by Reverend Gregory E. Singleton. With the recommendations, the Motion to approve was made by Elder Dr. Derrick Scott and seconded by Reverend Carroll Wells. Motion carried. Bishop stated the difference between a young adult and an adult is young and adult. If young people have the talent, do not stifle them because you don’t want to give it up. Either way you will have to give it up. It is good to have someone in place who is functioning. You learn by the mistakes you make. Let’s give the young people a chance. Engage the young adults within this Conference. Elder Scott stated, we need the young because they are strong and we need the old to show them the way. Bishop followed up by stating that’s true but the old can’t be in the way of the growth and development. Bishop Green called for the State of the Church report read by Reverend Lebbie Ligon. MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE FRIDAY, November 3, 2023 Allen University Rally At 11:45 AM, the Allen University/Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary Annual Rally began and alumni, Presiding Elder Reverend Dr. Derrick Scott, served as the worship leader. Program outlined with songs by Dr. Angela Blalock and Dr. Alan Rudell, both Assistant Professors of Music, scripture, and prayer. The conference praised God for the works of Allen University and its service to its students. The President of Allen University, Dr. Ernest McNealey, greeted the conference and stated that there is no better Board of Directors Chair of Allen University than Bishop Samuel L. Green Sr. Dr. Ernest McNealey shared the progress and innovation that Allen is experiencing. Dr. McNealey shared highlights on Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary. They have 677 students enrolled, an increase from last year. The overall enrollment in Seminary is about 30 in Master level and 10 at the doctoral level. It is a new program. Still underway to complete the ATS by this summer. The board met the second week in October for a board meeting. They approved a Master degree in Business Administration and in Environmental Science. We sponsored a women’s wrestling team in the fall. They enrolled one state champion in the program. They have volleyball players from Arizona and New Mexico. They have a Soccer team with students from Germany and South America and have won about 5 games. Homecoming was held last weekend. They are operating at a high level. They just unveiled a statue of US Representative James Clyburn. There is also a memorial statue in the works to remember the Emmanuel Nine. Students in the undergraduate and graduate programs are served well. The Green years brought about the Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary. With the rise in the Green Years it also brought about a football team that gained a record season of 7-2.

Sister Diane Anderson, New Bethel AME Church suggested for the report to also address gun violence and support a ban on AR15 assault rifles to not be readily available for citizens of certain capacities. The Lay Electoral College election will be held in 102 C. You must have your certificate signed by your Pastor and your Elder. You can only have one adult and young adult from each church. Young Adult must be between 18-35 (At time of election). Anyone age 18 and older is eligible to run as an adult delegate to the General Conference. Sister Jacqueline Goggins is the Host Lay Electoral College who will preside over the temporary Chair and Secretary until the

official Chair and Secretary is elected. You must elect at least one young adult delegate. Every ballot that is casted must have at least one young adult on the ballot. To distinguish the difference between the two types of candidates, you will see (YA) by their name to represent which candidates are young adults. The General Conference will be held August 21-28, 2024. Bishop stated that these dates might interfere with those working within the school system because you may not be able to attend. There will be 7 delegates and 7 alternate delegates elected. Those persons that have intent to run must state your name and spell for accuracy in the order of the following (First, MI, Last). The secretary will record the names and email the list to Sister Neal to prepare the ballot. Bishop Green, Sr. declared elected as the ministerial delegates from this Annual Conference the 52nd Quadrennial Session of the African Methodist Episcopal Church General Conference. Bishop asked for the following goals to be accomplished. The goal is to elect Reverend Jarrett Washington as the Chief Information Officers of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, which we want to make him the next General Secretary of the Church. Secondly to make sure your Bishop is landed in an Episcopal District that is compatible with his gifts and skills. Help him to go wherever he wants to go.

Thirdly, help him to bring a Bishop to this District that will carry this District higher than it has ever been. A bishop that has a heart to love the people and to serve and not be served. Also to have a heart to give. A bishop with skills to move Allen University forward, and to ensure Dickerson-Green Seminary to blossom. Bishop allowed each delegate to share a word of appreciation. Reverend Dr. Jimmy Williams shared his thanks and appreciation for his hospitality. Bishop asked for the delegates to remember him through the song “Remember Me”. Bishop called the Board of Examiners to provide a supplemental report as follows: We, the Board of Examiners, beg leave to make the following supplementary report. After prayerful and careful consideration and keeping the best interests of The African Methodist Episcopal Church in mind we make the following recommendations: Reverend Ricardo D. D. Herriott: After thorough discussions, we recommend that the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference rescind his election to be ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Further, we recommend revoking his status as an Itinerant Deacon of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. All related documentation is to be returned to the Episcopal office.

Reverend Emmanuel Sellers: We recommend that the Palmetto South Carolina Conference Board of Examiners rescind his ordination as an Itinerant Deacon and place him in the Class on Second-Year Studies. Bishop Green, Sr. shared his hurt and more so the disrespect to the Office of a Bishop. Bishop asked if they knew why the recommendation was being made. They owed the Board of Examiners and the Annual Conference an apology. What was said is a reflection of disrespect to the Board and to the Bishop of the AME Church. Bishop expressed again do not follow the crowd. There is a cost to every action and there are consequences to every action. If you commit the act, you have to be willing to live with the consequences. Bishop stated he was ready to put them out because he has the fear that if you disrespect me now then you will disrespect someone else later. Bishop suggested they go to the altar and pray (as they did). Bishop allowed both Elders to speak on their behalf and asked for mercy upon them. Bishop will spend some more time with God in prayer with the next step. Bishop did confirm he would not be ordaining Reverend Ricardo Herriott tonight. Bishop could not find it in his heart to lay hands on him for tonight’s ordination service. Closing prayer by Reverend John Black.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE FRIDAY, November 3, 2023 Ordination Service The Ordination Service began at 6:55 PM with the procession of the Chair of the Board of Examiners, Reverend Roland E.D. Sigman, the candidates for ordination, the board of examiners, and the presiding Elders, Reverend Judy M. Richardson, and Dr. Derrick Scott. The worship service was an exciting moment in African Methodism as the choir sang numerous moving and inspiring selections, such as, “Order My Steps.” Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr. presented the preacher, Reverend Dr. Willie R. Norful, Sr. , highlighting the fruitfulness of his ministry and the impact his message will have on the ordinands. Reverend Norful preached an energizing and inspiring sermon. “Handle With Care ” Luke 10:17-20 Reverend Dr. Willie R. Norful, Sr. preached to the ordinands. A true leader under God’s instructions has a divine command. It's a call to know where our strength comes from. Handle with care when you're stepping into the ministry. There are a lot of disagreements, conflicts, and uncertainty in the world these days. There are difficulties and disputes everywhere you look. There is a war rising in what we call the Holy Land. The assignment comes directly from God. The Call to Ministry is not from outside influences, it’s about doing what’s right in the sight of God. Shake the “dust” off. Don’t let your title make you think you’re better than someone else. When I call on the name of the Lord, I can honestly say, souls are saved, Jesus is Lord.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2023 SERVICE OF RETIREMENT Sister Renae Frazier, Annual Conference Secretary led in the Retirement Service for Preachers retiring from active service at this 113th Session of the Piedmont Annual Conference. Sister Frazier presented the following preachers who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to serve: Reverend Anthony Dunlap Elder Dr. Derrick Scott shared that Reverend Dunlap had to attend a funeral. Elder Scott thanked Rev. Dunlap in his absence for his labor in the vineyard and that his service is appreciated. Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr. thanked the retiree. Bishop Green stated that their commitment to ministry is stellar. The record of your ministry is written. The African Methodist Episcopal Church is deeply grateful for your ministry and for the time and care that you have taken to fulfill your obligations. The request was approved for Reverend Anthony Dunlap to retire from active ministry within the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Motion to approve was made by Elder Dr. Derrick Scott. and seconded by Reverend Adam China to accept the retirement of Rev. Anthony Dunlap. Motion carried. Bishop Green called for the preliminary Ministerial Efficiency report. Reverend James Speed, Sr. Chair of the report read the report with recommendations. The Motion to approve was made by Elder Dr. Derrick Scott. and seconded by Reverend Roland E.D. Sigman to accept the Ministerial Efficiency Committee report.. Motion carried. Bishop called for a motion in regards to the Judiciary Report Part I on sexual harassment. Elder Richardson reported and made a motion that the sexual harassment case investigated by the Judicial Committee was investigated and completed. The investigation was unsubstantiated and requested its allegation be dismissed by the Conference as unfounded. Motion accepted by Reverend Adam China and Seconded by Reverend Carroll Wells, Jr.. Motion carried.

Bishop called for the Judiciary Report Part II as referred from the Ministerial Efficiency Committee was read by Reverend Beatrice O. Coleman. Elder Dr. Derrick Scott moved to accept the report, Seconded by Reverend James E. Speed, Sr. Motion Carried. Bishop called for the Triers of Appeals Report which was read by Elder Dr. Derrick Scott. Reverend Heyward Green was found guilty of four charges and the recommendation was that Reverend Heyward Green be suspended of all priestly duties until the next Annual Conference held November 2-4, 2023, and for the final disposition under the Godly judgment made by Bishop Green, Sr. The Motion to approve was made by Elder Dr. Derrick Scott. and seconded by Reverend James Louden, III. Motion carried. Secondly, with a recommendation, if Reverend Heyward Green was allowed to continue, he would serve under a mentor in that church of another church until he was given the authority to return to his priestly duties. Dr. Scott accepted the motion and it was properly seconded by Rev. James Louden III. Bishop called for Reverend Heyward Green to come forward. Bishop requested Reverend Heyward Green to apologize to the conference. Bishop Green stated no sin goes without punishment. As President of the Piedmont SC Annual Conference, Bishop stated that Reverend Heyward Green will be suspended for 6 months from all priestly responsibilities. Bishop stated that Reverend Heyward Green is not to do the following: preach or administer the sacrament of baptism, holy communion; not to perform any weddings; not to wear any clergy garment that will suggest that he is a minister of the AME Church. Reverend Heyward Green will need to submit his ordination paper to the Secretary to hold until the 6 months suspension is up. He will also need to connect with his local church with a senior pastor to learn from that pastor. Once suspension is up he will be able to function under that church until after the planning meeting. He suggested he would join that church after the planning meeting because there will be some adjustments. Bishop also stated that Green will not be expelled, but suspended for 6 months. He wants him to study and follow under the leadership of someone that can help him become a better pastor. This will give him an opportunity to continue and reflect on his ministry. Bishop called for the Board of Examiners supplemental report. Reverend Ricardo Herriott was elected to be ordained an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church. That election has not been rescinded and vote was not carried through. Bishop said he believes his ordination needs to be on hold until you demonstrate the maturity to handle the gravity of that office. Bishop decided to hold his ordination and will be getting reports from whomever he associates with as well to your progress, growth and development. If he is pleased with what he hears, he will ordain him at the Aspire Congress in July 2024. He will be restricted from preaching unless he is given permission from the mentor to go and preach. Bishop stated to Reverend Herriott as you move forth, understand it could be worse and that he will walk through embarrassment and shame. The Bishop is also not going to allow him to supply a church this conference year.

Bishop stated to Reverend Emmanuel Sellers that his involvement was not as severe and he will not take his ordination from him. However, all of God’s children have to be chastised and he will have to go through something. Reverend Sellers will be suspended from pastoring/supplying a church this conference year. Bishop stated to Brother Tyron Pahn that he is sending him back to the class on admission and be put back through the Board for another year of training before he starts his first year course of study. Bishop asked the Board of Examiners if there were any further reports. The Board stated they have received a request for an order change from local to Itinerant order from the Reverend Efrem Zeigler. He further requested to be transferred to the Piedmont Conference. Reverend Zeiger is a member of the Central Conference. Bishop stated he could transfer him at any point but he is requesting a letter from his pastor and the church you are ordained to be a Local, granting the permission to change his orders to Itinerant track. Bishop will act upon his request at the Planning Meeting. Bishop asked Reverend Zeigler if he understood the responsibility of the Itinerant track and if he knew it would require him to get a seminary degree. He stated he has plans to enroll in Allen University. Reverend Zeigler stated that he will be submitting an application to Allen University for spring semester. This ends the supplemental report from the Board of Examiners. Bishop called for a motion to receive the Board of Examiners Report. It was made by Elder Dr. Derrick Scott and Seconded by Elder Judy M. Richardson. Motion Carried. Bishop asked Reverend Beatrice O. Coleman if she was the only woman on the Board. She stated that Revered Lebbie Ligon also serves with her as the current female representation on the Board. Bishop stated he needed to add some more women to the Board of Examiners. He asked for the women Itinerant Elders to stand. Those who stood were the Reverends: Leatrice A. Thomas, Mary Elmore Thomas, and Betty J. Martin. He stated you need to be an Itinerant Elder for at least five years before you could serve on the Board of Examiners. Since they have only served for less than 5 years, Bishop stated he might have to send someone from another conference. Bishop Green called for the Statistical report to be read by Reverend Gregory Singleton. The approval of the report with the recommendations was accepted with a Motion to approve made by Reverend Beatrice O. Coleman and seconded by Reverend Roland E.D. Sigman. Motion carried. Piedmont Conference Seventh Episcopal District of the AME Church Lay Electoral College Minutes from November 3, 2023 Sister Jackie Goggins called the meeting to order at 4:27 PM. A motion was made to elect Sister Jackie Goggins as a temporary Chairperson. The motion passed. A motion was made to elect Sister Kimberly Chamberlain as a temporary Secretary. The motion passed. Devotion was conducted with the song “Victory Is Mine”, a prayer, and the scripture read was Psalm 100. A motion was made to elect Sister Jackie Goggins as a permanent Chairperson. The motion was passed. A motion was made to elect Sister Kimberly Chamberlain as a permanent Secretary. The motion was passed. Brother Jatavius Coleman and Brother Jody Harkness were appointed as marshals. Sister Valerie Smith and Sister Victoria Anderson were elected as tellers Sister Latrelle Hackett and Sister Shirley Jefferson were elected as clerks. Brother Keith Britton, Seventh Episcopal District President, was on hand as a consultant to provide assistance if needed. He gave information on the electronic voting process, explaining the ballots and the use of the scantron machines. Greenville District had 26 persons eligible to vote and Abbeville/Greenwood had 26 persons eligible to vote for a total of 52 persons eligible to vote. At the request of Chairperson Jackie Goggins, Brother Keith Britton gave an overview of the duties of General Conference Delegates and stated that the first meeting of the Seventh Episcopal District Delegation would be at the Fall Planning Meeting and Convocation (Post Conference) next week in Florence, SC. He also stated that all elected Piedmont Conference delegates and alternates should be in attendance at the next business session of the Piedmont Annual Conference. MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2023 YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT WORSHIP The Youth and Young Adult Service began promptly at 11:15 AM with the Piedmont Conference Choir/YPD’ers leading the conference in Praise and Worship. Brother Tyron Pahn served as the Worship Leader. The Piedmont Conference YPD Choir inspired us as they sang “Victory is Mine” and “Lord Do It For Me”. The Reverend Treakivius A. Lyons, the Pastor of Mt. Zion AME Church, McCormick in the Abbeville/Greenwood District preached an energizing sermon.

“Not Too Much On Me” I Samuel 16:11 Reverend Lyons preached on a few things. It’s not too much on you. With every blessing, comes responsibilities. What are the Goliath’s challenges in your life? It could be the people around you, be careful of who you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with three people that’s good for you. The goliath is not too much on you. Where there is a blessing, there are always challenges. With God on your side, it’s not too much on you. What a dynamic message that was preached to the congregation.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2023 CHURCH SCHOOL EXPLOSION The Church School Explosion began at 3 PM with The chairperson of the Church School Committee for the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference, Sister Carmella Powell, shared that today’s church school moment was talking about Isaiah’s Cleansing and Call, Isaiah 6:1-8. She gave three imperatives: Look Up, Look In, and Look Out. After reading the lesson, the conference committee presented a skit to reenact the story of Isaiah, the prophet, played by Reverend Franklin Pruitt, being anointed as King from Reverend Adam China. The skit was funny, informative, and presented in an amazingly beautiful way.

Brother DeAutra Lee gave us a “Gospel Mix” to enjoy and get our praise on. Reverend Adam China led the conference in a rendition of the game of Kahoot . At the conclusion, Sister Powell thanked the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference for the opportunity to present at the Church School Explosion.

MINUTES OF THE 113TH SESSION OF THE PIEDMONT SOUTH CAROLINA ANNUAL CONFERENCE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2023 CLOSING WORSHIP SERVICE We assembled to begin the Closing and Commission Convocation. The Closing and Commission Convocation Service began promptly at 4:45 p.m. Presiding Elder Judy M. Richardson of the Greenville District serving as Worship Leader. The Allen Temple AME Church Choir led a spirited worship service with songs such as “Lead Me, Guide Me, “All of my Help”, “Total Praise” “We are often Tossed and Driven”, “Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy” The high spirited message came from Bishop Samuel Lawrence Green, Sr., the 125 th Elected and Consecrated Bishop in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Bishop encouraged the hearts of the Piedmont Annual Conference through an inspiring word entitled: “Joyful Noise!” Psalm 100 1Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! 2 qServe the LORD with gladness! rCome into his presence with singing!

Know that sthe LORD, he is God! It is he who tmade us, and uwe are his;1 we are his vpeople, and wthe sheep of his pasture. 4 xEnter his gates with thanksgiving, and his ycourts with praise! Give thanks to him; zbless his name! 5 aFor the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his bfaithfulness to all generations. 3

We have our own sound; our own noise with gladness. They will know us by our sound. It is the sound that makes us who we are. We don’t sound like politicians or celebrities. Our sound is unique because our sound is rooted in praise. If I start talking about God and you do not make any noise, but If I mention the name of Jesus and you make noise then I know you have been redeemed by the blood of the Lame. It is the sound you make. I

know God had to reach way down and you are tampered by the Holy Ghost. If you don’t like noise then don’t start talking about God in the presence of a believer. Thank you for making way for me. Thank you for healing me. David said make a joyful noise. This is when David was talking being in the presence of the Lord. David calls it a joyful noise. When you are in the presence of the Lord, you have to remember where you came from. Are there any joyful people? I am so glad He saved me. I am so glad He protected me. Serve the Lord with gladness. It means that your gratitude should be a part of everything that you do. Love the way a believer loves. Work the way a believer works. Struggle the way a believer struggles–with gladness and joy. Grace will make you glad. Let the devil hear your gladness. David provided instructions on how you should enter God's house. 1. Enter into His gates with thanksgivings 2. Enter into his courts with praise 3. Be Thankful 4. And bless His name We can’t sit in God’s house and be silent. When they shouted in Jericho, the walls came tumbling down. The walls coming down are tied up in your sound. You can bring down walls in your family, in church, in divided neighborhoods, and in the level God wants you to be on. Are you ready to make the right noise? (Bishop became ill during a brief moment. The Conference went into immediate prayer. Bishop was able to returned to complete the Service of Commission)

THE SERVICE OF COMMISSION The Reverend Franklin Pruitt led the conference in singing the Commission Hymn, “Go Preach, My Gospel.” Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr., then led us in the Commission scripture from Matthew 28:1620. 16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr. then presented the certificates for the component leader certificates. The appointments were as follows:

Green, Sr., Presiding Bishop; Dr. Phyllis N. Green, Episcopal Supervisor; The Reverend Judy M. Richardson, Host Presiding Elder; The Reverend Dr. Derrick Scott, Associate Presiding Elder; The Reverend James E. Speed, Sr., Host Pastor; Pastors, Ministers, Delegates, and members of the 113th Session of the Piedmont Annual Conference: Your Committee on Resolutions submits the following resolutions for action, by this Conference: WHEREAS, the 113th Session of the Piedmont Annual Conference was called to convene, at Allen Temple AME Church, in Greenville, South Carolina, under the leadership of our Bishop, The Right Reverend Samuel Lawrence Green, Sr., and was held at the Greenville Convention Center; and, WHEREAS, the Piedmont Annual Conference is privileged with the distinction of being the last Annual Conference that Bishop Green will hold in the Seventh Episcopal District, after faithfully serving two terms, as the presiding prelate, serving this present age, with superb leadership, giving wise counsel, Godly judgments, Spirit-filled sermons, powerful prayers, profound teaching, healing humor, kind acknowledgments, and generous gifts; and, WHEREAS, Bishop Green, standing firmly on the promise of God’s word, in The Gospel According to Saint Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,” and having presented to the Seventh Episcopal District the “God First” model of leadership and servanthood, during our first God First Holy Convocation themed “God First - “Doing Church Differently,” continued to encourage all of us to put God first, always trusting Him in difficult and challenging times and to thank and praise Him for His grace, mercy, and faithfulness. Bishop Green continually reminded us of the seriousness of the purpose, mission, and ministry of the Church; and, WHEREAS, Bishop Green rallied for the financial support and recruitment of new students for our beloved schools or higher education, Allen University and Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary. Dr. Ernest McNealey, our highly esteemed president of Allen University, highlighted the accomplishments achieved under the leadership of Bishop Green as chairman of the Allen University Board of Trustees, since 2016 appropriately noting them as the “Green Years.” These achievements include a ten-year accreditation

reaffirmation, the approval to offer a degree in Teacher Education, a perfect financial responsibility score, increased levels of degree offerings, which now include associate, master’s, and doctorate degrees, three graduate programs, three online programs, additional athletic programs, and an increase in net assets of approximately $41 million; and, WHEREAS, as Bishop Green and our queenly, Super Supervisor, Dr. Phyllis N. Green, lead us into their last conference year of service, in the Seventh Episcopal District, with the theme “Releasing the Power Within,” with the call to “tap into what is already deposited and stir up the power within to do the work of the Kingdom,” which expresses their desire for us to continue to move forward and do greater for God’s kingdom. BE IT RESOLVED that the 113th Session of the Piedmont Annual Conference pledge to continue to put God First, in all things, and, embracing our theme for this conference year, call on God to help us release the power within, enabling us to continue along the path of effective evangelism, discipleship, giving, and serving. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Conference commits to continuing to support Allen University and Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary, for the educational advancement of our students. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Conference commend the Reverend James E. Speed, Sr., host pastor, Mrs. Debra J. Speed, host spouse, and the wonderful members of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church for hosting and serving with outstanding service and a noticeable gladness of heart; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this 113th Session of the Piedmont South Carolina Annual Conference, pray for God’s continued guidance and blessings upon the Right Reverend Samuel Lawrence Green, Sr., and Dr. Phyllis Nadine Green, who will leave an indelible mark on our hearts and in our minds; and may we rise with praise to God for them, as we honor them, expressing our sincerest gratitude for their excellent leadership!
