A mentally disabled was shot dead after killing bystander at brgy. Binagbag, Angat Bulacan.

A 60-year-old man nicknamed “attorney” was killed after stabbing a bystander who was then rushed to the hospital but later was considered dead on the arrival.

According to the witnesses’ statements, a girl was walking along the area when the certain “attorney”stabbed his knife and pointed out his water gun to the victim.

The certain man was said to be mentally disabled who used to walk along Binagbag carryingsuitcase, a knife and a water gun.

Police arrived trying to arrest the suspect but fought back as he points out his water gun and aims his knife at the officer.

The ‘Palaisdaan Festival’ inspired float of Hagonoy won as the “Best Float” in the Parada ng Karosa, held last September 8, 2016 in the Capitol Grounds.

The said float have different decoration made from different products known in Haganoy. They also used town’s patron saint, St. Ana, as the highlight in the float.

The Palaisdaan Festival is one of renowned festival in Bulacan wherein they showcase the best marine products of their municipality.

Sinubukan naming tutulan ng mga tricycle drivers ng FVR ang nasabing batas at humingi ng tulong sa SPTC, ngunit wala ring tumugon sa kanila sapagkat naging lamang ang SPTC sa nasabing batas.

Miss United Continents 2016, back in Bulacan

Bulakenyos warmly welcomed the pride of Bulacan, Miss United Continents 2016 Jeslyn Santos in her home coming, last October 19, 2016.

Jeslyn Santos is the first ever Filipina and Asian crowned as Miss United Continents who happened to be a Bulakenya.

Santos first visited the office of Governor Wihelmino Alvarado where she was awarded and recognized Jeslyn as ‘Pride and Hero’ through a resolution.

Santos again entered in her Alma Mater, Bulacan State University, to thank her supporters before coming home in her home town in Hagonoy.

“Bulakenya pa din ako.

Probinsyana pa rin,” Santos said, reminiscing her days in Hagonoy.

Santos said that she will return to Ecuador in December for a charity work as part of her job as the reigning Miss United Continents.

Santos become a candidate in Binibining Pilipinas 2014 and 2016 but failed to win any of title in both tries.

Every year JCI MarilaoMarilag executes a strategic planning and team building, this is also the time that the outgoing officers pass their seats to the ingoing and officers to be.

The incoming officers made the initiative to have this kind of program. For this year’s event they entitled it “Synergize”.

Inaasahan na ang nasabing ‘Bagong Pag-asa Reformation center’ ay makakatulong sa mga sumuko sa ipinagbabawal na gamot sa loob ng 30 na araw na kanilang pananatili dito.

Samantala ang pagtatayo ng mga ‘rehab’ ay binibigyang diin ng Regional Police Office upang matugunan ang kakulangan ng mga rehab center sa Bulacan.

Patuloy na nga rin ang paglaganap ng mga ‘rehabilitation center’ sa Bulacan, gaya na lamang ng mga nagbukas sa Dona Remedios Trinidad, Norzagaray at iba.

Kabilang na rin ang pagbubukas ng isang ‘rehab center’, tinatawag na “Bahay Pagbabago”, sa Ligas, Malolos, Bulacan sa pangunguna naman ng punong lungsod nito na si Christian Natividad.

Sa kasalukuyan, nasa ikalawang grupo na ang ‘Bagong Pag-asa’ ng mga babaeng sumuko na tinatayang nasa bilang na 20.

Programang pangbawas trapiko, inlunsad Ni Marisol Gaspar

Nagsagawa ang Santa Maria Traffic Management Unit (SMTMU) ng re-routing scheme para sa mga piling kalsada sa Poblacion na kung saan naglalayong paluwagin ang daloy ng trapiko.

Kaakibat nito ang pagsasa-ayos sa mga vendor na matatagpuan sa mga sidewalk upang mapaluwag ang kalsada.

Ang terminal ng jeep ay nagiging night market tuwing ala-singko ng gabi bilang daan sa mga vendor na naghahanap buhay.

Samantalang ang jeep ay lilipat ng terminal sa katabi nitong parke sa harap ng munisipyo.

Casa Real: Another home for history

“Museo ng Kasaysayang Pampulitika ng Pilipinas” has finally opened their gates for public viewing in its modernized theme, October 11, 2016 at the Casa Real Shrine in Malolos, Bulacan.

The Vice President Maria Leonor ‘Leni’ Robredo together with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) chairman, Ma. Serena Diakno attended the opening of the said museum.

Robredo said that historical museum provides an overview of the Philippine political history and that the lessons of it should be the guiding light of the Filipinos to stand up for their rights.

Museo ng Kasaysayan started its construction by the year 2014, but the opening was gradually moved due to circumstances, but finally pushed through this year.

“Ang kahalagan kasi ng museum ay para ipakita, i-showcase yung history, di lang history kundi yung mga artifacts ng nakaraan kung saan pwede natin pagbasehan ‘yon, maging reference” Alex Aguinaldo, a history major graduate, and the tour guide for the museum explained.

HISTORY LIVES The Casa Real shrine has become the third museum in Bulacan, after Barasoain Church which has the 1989 Republic, and the Marcelo H. del Pilar’s museum in Bulakan, Bulacan.

The said museums are all part of the NHCP, and is funded by the government. Thus, explains its free admission and tour, 8am to 4pm, from Tuesday to Sunday.

Ipinaramdam muli sa madla ang kasiyahang dulot ng pagdiriwang ng pinakaaabangang kapistahan sa Bulacan na nagtatampok ng sining at kultura.

Ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan ang nanguna sa 2016 SIngkaban.

Singkaban festival for ALL:Jeepney drivers in for the celebration

SINGING DRIVER-Rodrigo Dela Cruz hits another win after having the crown ‘singing tsuper’ for the second time “Araw ng Lingkod Lansangan” was celebrated in lieu of the jeepney drivers, in part of the celebration of 2016’s Singkaban Festival at the Hiyas Convention Center, September 11, 2016.

Alleged drug user shot dead in an anti-drug operation in Brgy. Pulo, San Rafael Bulacan, last October 5ww.

Around 600 jeepney drivers, members of the Bulacan Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (BFJTODA), thru the efforts of the Public Administration Office, attended and made the event possible.

The 39-year-old man named Romualdo Santos was killed for resisting arrest after exchanging shots with the San Rafael Police.

The gathering is initiated for a day to break, and a day of relaxation for the fellow drivers. Its activities includes, singing contest, give away, raffles. One of its goals is also to unite and create a bond between these drivers.

According to the witnesses, police officers arrived at the place at 4:40 am blocking all the possible ways to escape. Exactly 3 shots of gun were heard at 5:00 am following another at 5:30 am and a single shot at 6:00 am declaring Santos’ death.

The operation ‘Oplan Tokhang’ intended for drug pushers to surrender, but the operation turns out to be the killings of Santos.

“Napakalaki pong tulong ng naibibigay ng BFJTODA at ditto naman po (sa contest), pangalawang beses ko na pong maging champion at malaking tulong ito sa pamilya ko” dela Cruz said.

While Mark John Gonzales, from Malolos and Gilbert Macabeo from Meycauayan bagged Php 5,000 and Php 3,000 respectively.

This part of the weeklong celebration aims to strengthen the said association and to inspire them that providing safe public transportation every day is also a day where they can enjoy.

On their way, home – smiles ahead It is really a delight to see these jeepney drivers get recognize and be part of the celebration, truly a mark that they’re not forgotten and they’re part of a history.

Dishes with banana gets title! Rap battle itinampok sa Singkaban Festival 2016

Banana peel in caldereta sauce and squash flower with malunggay and banana blossoms hits the best two dishes nailing the Kalutong Bulakenyo 2016 winner held in at Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.

Prices for dishes Joseph Siquig and Jinky Jane Porneso of the First City Providential College Del took home P15,000 first prize and the best in presentation with the special award of P3, 000 cash incentive for the student category.

Following, the Organic US Black Angus Rib Eye Steak ala Chateau Briande of La Consolacion University of the Philippines College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management and received P10,000 while the Adobong Dilaw sa Aligue at Gata with Pinoy Maki of Centro Escolar University College of Hospitality and Management won the third place and took home P7,000.

For the Kababaihan sa Nayon category, the Barangay Health Workers Risza Castro and Ma. Nerissa Martin also took home P15,000 first prize.

Kalutong Bulakenyo 2016

Kalutong Bulakenyo aims to promote unique Bulacan made recipes through competitions.

As ordered by the provincial agricultural’s office each participants are required to provide themselves their own cooking materials such as utensils, stove and other kitchen appliances needed for making their dishes even more possible.

The limited time of an hour will be given to participants. The time given should be consumed accordingly from the time of preparation up to the last part of creatively presenting the dish.

Itinampok din sa kumpetisyon ang mga “Awiting Makabayan at Katutubong Sayaw”, na s’ya nang dating parte ng KBS Rewaynd. Layunin nito na buhayin ang mga kundiman at katutubong sayaw, lalo na sa mga kabataan.

Dalawampu’t dalawang mag-aaral Grade 1-7 mula sa iba’t ibang eskuwelahan, ang nakilahok sa Awiting Makabayan,

samantalang 11 grupo naman mula sa sekondarya ang nagpakitang gilas gamit ang mga Katutubong sayaw.

Nakatanggap ng tropeo at P15,000 ang nagwagi ng unang gantimpala sa Rap Battle at Awiting Makabayan, habang tropeo at P10,000 naman para sa ikalawang gantimpala, tropeo at P5,000 naman sa ikatlo.

Tropeo at insentibong pera rin ang natanggap ng mga nagwagi sa Katutubong Sayaw.

Nagkakahalagang P60,000 ang natanggap ng unang gantimpala, P40,000 sa ikalawa at P20,000 naman sa ikatlong gantimpala.

The winning dish contains all of the necessary namely, palatability of flavor, taste and blending, nutritive value, preparation and presentation.

The program became even more exciting as it was judged by the ever famous chef Boy Logro who was annually active on the said competition.

But keep in mind, that no matter how hard Duterte may be to Obama and no matter how kind is Obama to keep the relationship sailing, Obama, himself, has remaining days in his position as the US elections come in hand. Either Trump or Clinton, wins? We wouldn’t know the fallback for us, if our dear president won’t stop.

On the other hand, Duterte knows his place of outburst. He knew that China is not a good old friend of America, and so, he said that he’d completely cut ties with the US. Slightly if not completely, convincing China to be partners, and Duterte on the other hand, brought home $24billion for investment. Quite a move.

In a society, it is a necessary to level up than stay stagnant or go down and die. Any politician in position, for what I still believe, has a purpose to serve. And endless projects will probably keep on flowing.

Specifically speaking, the city of Malolos here in Bulacan had a level up - supposed to be.

The Malolos public market, known for crowded and endless people, a place where anyone can buy anything they want to, be it underground or over the counter transactions, name it. “Bayan”, as we call, it got it all covered.

Not really recently, but sometime this year, the newly built Malolos market opened up.

It is a venue for dry goods to be sold. It is somewhat a replacement and a new neat working space for vendors, maybe a compensation, for those who were affected of the fire that burnt down that place.

Direct eyesight speaking, it is really a good project. A refreshing one and it seems a good place to

stop by unlike before that wet and dry goods are sold in one place where you get to stick with people side by side, disorganized, and scattered and foot-solely tiring.

But the things is, it is not a single direction eyesight powint of view. It has its peripheral vision too.

Notice that ever since the market was established, flood became a level above too. Flood easily arise every time rain pours.

Resulting to people having no choice but to go and walk through the flood, raising possible cases of diseases.

Another thing is that, the vendors wasn’t lessen, they were a level up too. They flew and grew from all possible places to place their carts as well. I mean, the market was built for them, the market was built to be efficiently useful and to lessen the road pollution of overcrowded people.

Lastly, re-route. I do not see the point wherein Fausta karatig jeepneys need to go through that road when the road before was a good route. Now, it would at least

Sa hindi maipaliwanag na dahilan, nagkasabay-sabay ang paggawa ng mga kalsada sa iba’t ibang bayan ng Bulacan. Mula sa San Rafael, San Jose Del Monte, Marilao at Malolos, na kadalasa’y nagiging sanhi ng matinding traffic.

Kung minsang lalakbayin mo kasi ang mga kalsada sa mga bayang ito, ‘di mo talaga maiiwasang mapa-‘face palm’, dahil daig mo pa ang nasiraan ng sasakyan sa tagal ng pagka-stock mo sa kalsada.

“Pinagsabay-sabay kasi nila ‘yong gawa, pati sa mga alternate route ginawa nila, wala tuloy mapag-ikutan ‘yong mga jeep,”

‘di mo talaga maiiwasang mapa-‘face palm’, dahil daig mo pa ang nasiraan ng sasakyan reklamo ni Ariel Ansano, driver ng San Jose Del Monte-Malolos jeep.

Dahil sa sistemang ganito, walang takas ang mga sasakyan sa ‘di mabilang na sasakyang nakapila at nag-aatay na makaraan sila.

Ayon pa kay Ariel, minsan daw ay sinasabay pa ng mga trabahador ang pagbubuhos ng semento tuwing rush hour, na mas nagpapatagal sa traffic na dinadanas nila. Kaya ang dapat sanay 2 oras lamang na byahe ay nauuwi sa 3 hanggang 4 na oras dahil lang sa ‘pila’.

Hindi naman kasi manghuhula ang mga driver para malaman kung may makakasalubong ba sila o wala.

Ang dapat talaga’y maging responsable ang trabahador at gampanan ang mga gawaing iniatas sa kanila.

Para naman sa mga driver sa Malolos, ‘di lang oras ang nasasayang sa kanila kundi pati

ang pera.

Sabay-sabay kasi ang pagbubungkal nila ng mga lane ng kalsada, lalo pa’t maraming sasakyan ang nagdadaan sa dahil highway iyon. Ang nagiging epekto tuloy ay mahabang pila ng mga sasakyan na pahinto-hinto at parang pagong kung umusad.

Naiipon din ang iba’t ibang klase ng mga sasakyan sa mga reroute, kaya kahit magreroute ka, traffic pa rin ang babagsakan mo.

Sa San Rafael naman, mga nakatiwang-wang na kalsada ang problema. Ang nangyayari kasi’y, ‘di pa man ayos ang unang binungkal na kalsada, magbubungkal na naman sila ng panibago, na nagreresulta sa isang mahabang kalsada na ‘di madaraanan.

Kaya’t para kay Ricardo Alvaran, isang motorist na kadalasang dumaraan rito, mas mainam na mapalayo ang b’yahe niya kaysa maghapong ma-stock sa harap ng mga sira-sirang kalsada. Mas pinili na lang kasi n’ya na dumaan sa alternate route, kung saan ang dating 1 oras n’yang b’yahe ay magiging 2.

Bagamat may alternate route na nadadaanan, ‘di pa rin tama na napipilitang dumaan dito ang mga residente dahil lang sa maling diskarte sa paggwa ng mga kalsada.

Ang magandang solusyon lang naman sa lumalaking problema na ito ng Bulacan ay tamang pamamaraan.

Una, dapat sana’y maliit na parte muna ng kalsada ang gawin nila, nang sa gayo’y ‘di naiipon ang mga sasakyan na nag-aantay para makaraan.

Honestly, I appreciate how the people specifically the government focuses in this issue. It is indeed necessary to provide each and everyone of us a safety road. It is the taxpayers right, in the first place to feel the effect of the money they are required to give.

Christmas has finally arrived in a house in La Breza, Pantoc, Meycauayan, Bulacan as 5,000+ Christmas lights lit up on the Agustin’s house.

The house is already an attraction to their neighbors but it’s continuously getting fame as outsiders even come to their house just to witness the lights at night.

the three-year tradition of the Agustin family goes on.

Agustin family, has always been thankful for the blessings they receive and wanted to share happiness through their house decoration for Christmas, to pair with Christmas songs playing all throughout the house at night.

“Ang buhay umiikot, hindi naman kasi kami ganito dati. Kaya ganito kami kasi ito talaga yung way of saying thanks namin sa buhay na hindi namin ine-expect. Kaya

In the small, not-so-famous town of Malolos lies a few prominent people, not because of their position in the society, or their achievements but because of what they do.

It is not easy to filter the people in an area but they are so visible to the eye and sometimes they come to you before you know it. They do it not for fun or leisure but they do it for a living. And what caused them to live that way is a story no one ever dared to know and discover.

On a day you keep the search or the eye for them, no one came. But their stories did.

SOUL #1 The old man who never loses his handkerchief in his shoulder and a man who seems more decent than what he looks like, is a regular in front of the HBC store, back and forth, sometimes while sitting and his hand with that cup shaking. No one does speak to him but his story is heard even from a far.

That he is an old man, old enough for his age to be still begging for money in a crowded and dangerous area of Malolos. His family? Is not known to human science. At least for the people around him. They see him

You’ve found them. But they are not ours to keep, and sometimes what’s yours go missing too. come and go every day without a trace of having a family. The man nonetheless, never spoke, but what is visible is that those eyes speak of tiredness and that stick stands for the ache that he, too, needs someone to stand by his wide with.

SOUL #2 Not all who ask for pity are old-aged humans. It is more often to see 3-7 year old kids, walking on a hot sunny day, barefoot, with dirt-stained faces asking you for food, money to buy food and the reason? They haven’t eaten at all. While it is up to the person

Painful as it may seem to watch, seeing their parent seat in lounge as if life has been so good to them, which is not a bad thing, but seeing their children beg and follow people around just for a coin or two for the entire family is something that will be painful for the eyes.

SOUL #3

But what’s painful in her story is that she is really going through her old age dilemmas. She sees the vendor and even call him his son’s name which is ‘Tony’. The lady who sees the vendor as her own son, is probably a manifestation that she is still a mother. And a mother longs for her children, always.

SOUL #4 The last soul, is either a play-

er or a real one. On an encounter with her, the lady came in the old style of walking, slowly, seems painful and on a crying voice begged for money for food. And in that moment of encounter, touched hearts and gave her money.

While walking away, the lady started to walk on a faster pace, giving off that painful look and looking normal. Then a vendor near spoke, told that the lady would usually use that scheme to get money, and most of the times sees her counting her money, which comes at about a thousand or two every day. Twice or thrice as much of the minimum salary wage of anyone.

What went wrong with the world? Where are these lost souls into?

Will they suffer and beg for as long as they live?

he vice mayor is not the vice mayor- I mean, he is not the label. He is an individual. There is a separation.

In most stories, the limelight is always on the protagonist and antagonist of the story.

The second lead, the best friend, the adviser is mostly given a little amount of screen time. And most often than not, people are not aware of the story he shares and he has.

So, how about a time off the ‘bida’ and in time for the ‘extra’.

An extra by term, nah. Not even enough. But an extra that plays a very vital role as support and as a right hand.

But more than his office, his accomplishments and the duties he is into let us see the vice mayor-inside and outside his office.

Malolos’s vice mayor, Engr.

Gilbert “Bebong” Gatchalian. An engineer, turned public servant, turned vice mayor.

THE FIRST IN HIS TROOP

And turning down, was a shame as it seems to be, he, rather, they agreed to give it a shot. Without expecting anything in return. A councilor. That was the position he was running into.

A councilor away from the leading party, from a party, not known, as much as the other is.

“I was not expectant” It was his first try, and his first win.

According to his words, it was with God’s grace that he won that election and that is where his political career started. And that is where the shift came.

For whatever his career was leading him into, he remained firm, not regretful and kept a mind that this was all because of God’s grace. And moved forward, embraced being a public servant, and did serve.

He is the “Administrative Head of the Sangguniang Panglungsod” which actually takes care of the welfare and needs of his and the municipality’s staffs.

“Hindi ka nga kumikibo sa classroom tapos tatakbo ka ngayon” Admitted as he is, the administration now is no perfect governance. They have their flaws, weaknesses, and mistakes.

For most politicians, it runs in their veins. The passion and the fire to run, win, and be in a government position.

But his story is different.

He was the first in his family, the first in his troop, and the blood doesn’t run it.

“Hindi ka nga kumikibo sa classroom tapos tatakbo ka ngayon” Gatchalian shared as most of his colleagues at school tease him upon hearing the news that he’ll run.

It wasn’t really his choice, obviously, an engineer, that is what he wanted to be. But due to his father, a friend of Mayor Natividad, who invited his brother, a medicine graduate, back then, but declined, the offer turned his.

But from what he shared, it was this schools and that the education that lit up his eyes and showed fervor passion about it.

This is not an accomplishment report so I won’t enumerate them but what inspired me about the interview was this.

“Children are now excited to go to school” He said those lines happily and that somehow proved how much he had already embraced being a public servant, not being a politician only.

But thru series of projects and plans for improvement, Gatchalian had his own series of turn down-of offers.

He may have accepted it once, but the second time was just about to give it a rest not until Natividad, came knocking on his door, on a 9PM time asking him if he already filed his candidacy and the rest was history.

He once had long hair, was part of a fraternity actually. He has an inferiority complex, big word, I know. But he had overcome it, as he needs to face people most of the time.

And he admitted that he has improved his diligence.

On an end note, and will be the end of this as well, he was asked about his ‘boy next door’ feelings, and just like how he reacted on praises and different situations, He laughed.

It may seem like it that traffic right now has dominated the no.

1 spot if a list of what causes Filipino stress these days is going to be made.

Endless road constructions, re-routes, consecutive road destructions, is not the only source of this.

While main road drivers has these problems. Non-main road or rather provincial transportation vehicles experience a different sort of difficulty. It is their passengers.

And income is everything to these drivers. Boundary and family expenses are only a few of what they need to raise to survive, a single day.

And while the sound roads makes the drivers go irritated, it a driver to driver battle on this one.

COLLISION #1

It has been a long story on the run years ago from now and the case has been resolved but the tension hasn’t boiled down. They’re more of a mother-father parental guide on whom to follow and who knows the best way to take their kids.

It took several hearings and complaints but in the end, they remained there.

These are the Muzon-route jeepney drivers against the Sta.Maria-SM Marilao route jeepney drivers.

Mainly the reason was because Sta. Maria drivers complain that Muzon drivers take away their passengers.

But it is not a tug of war. The passengers in fact, just take the route they find more easy and convenient to ride from their home.

COLLISION #2

On the other hand, a smaller public vehicle, is on the risk of dispersing again. (What’s with people eliminating co-workers these days?)

A tricycle body is on a death note. Not to mention the place, but it is somewhere south of Bulacan. ‘Toda’ as they call the whole body of tricycle drivers from a place to a place only.

Let’s keep it on a discrete matter, okay?

Toda A and Toda B. It was a matter of complaining, getting approved, getting back at revenge, losing the better of the first complainant.

Complicated as it seems it is just a series of not being content on the scope of your destinations. It was only now they do realize that it is better to have a limit than having less.

One ‘toda’ can only travel on a straight road. Having the maximum of 15php per travel. Worth it? Nah. While the other ‘toda’, though restricted to go further can travel on a larger distance, and earning about 20php and above per ride.

So, how cruel is the world full of complaints right?

PERSONAL ENCOUNTER (with the collision) On a bright day (seriously, bright though, because of the heat), and while the entire group is in a hurry trying to catch up to the class, due to the closed road in Fausta, jeepney drivers in Malolos have to go through the muddy, ‘roller coaster-almost-StarCity’ ride every time they enter the area and it was a big of a hassle to any driver as some have even stucked their vehicles their and it costs hassle for either-the passers and the driver.

Anyway, so on the way back to university, a karatig jeep (which we were in) and a Calumpit jeeps had that close encounter literally. They were side to side each other, for a moment, both were silent until we heard loud taps on the karatig from the Calumpit driver.

But the story didn’t end there, they threw harsh words at each other. Foul words and most of all, the Calumpit driver even asked for a fight (Seriously? In the mud? Mud fight?

Hm, sounds good.)

But as passengers start to complain and asked to just let it go because of the hassle caused, both drivers threw their last blow in each oth-

How cruel is the world full of complaints, right? er’s jeeps and went separate ways.

Which left us a big sigh of relief for not having witness the fight, and not having to walk through the mud just to get to another jeep and go to school and not be late.

However, it makes people think that what it is worth fighting and wasting time for being greedy of a land you just pass by. Creating complaints will just create the series of revenge that will never end.

The tension is inevitable for the drivers especially with the hassle of time they experience and the notso-good relationships they have.

So try to be cautious, maybe the next public vehicle war is in your area.

I walk with my barefoot letting the cold floor and the fresh morning moist awaken my senses.

Coldness runs from my foot straight to my nerves, shivering. I felt a hand placed on my shoulder, without looking, I uttered. “Not today loves. I’m not yet done.”

I giggled as I’ve finished the masterpiece I’m literally dying to make.

I look at the painting. A girl in all white flying! Haha!! Pretty angel so free! I continued laughing as I smiled on this painting. A different smile people don’t want to see. “Look!

Blood scattered around! I’m a great painter my loves!”

Teardrops fell as my eyes diverted at the picture of my only one. “If only the groom and the bride were placed in the same car, maybe I was bumped too right?” Funny! I’m laughing while crying I won’t ditch him. I’m done my loves. I excitedly reach the 40th floor. He’s here. We’ll get married again. See you my love, see you. A tear fell as I jumped from the top floor. I know, I just made the painting real. ‘I’m coming loves.”

Rinding-rindi na rin ang mga taynga ko sa mga payo nilang suntok sa buwan. Na masusumpungan ko rin daw ang para sa akin. Na darating ito kahit hindi ko hanapin.

Kaya naman heto na ako ngayon, halos maglilimang taon ng payapa ang isip. Subsob sa trabaho at kayod kabayo para sa pamilya. Para kina ama’t ina.

Nakakatawa mang pakinggan pero nakalimutan ko na ata kung paano ang magmahal. At parang ayoko na muling aralin. Natuto na ako.

Isang araw.

“Pareng Michael! Pareng Michael,” paulit-ulit at makulit na hiyaw ng matalik kong kaibigan na si Jose habang kinakalampag ang kahoy na pintuan ng aming bahay.

“O pare, may problema ba? Bakit tila humahangos ka pa? ano bang meron?” tarantang tanong ko sa kaniya.

“Pare kaibigan mo’ko. Nakikita ko lahat ng paghihirap mo. Pare dapat masaya ka. Dapat may nagpapasaya sa’yo. Tara’t magbihis ka at may pupuntahan tayo,” seryosong pahayag ng matalik kong kaibigan.

Napaisip ako. Ito na nga ba ang tamang panahon para muling hanapin ang isang bagay na wala naman talagang katiyakan? Sapat na ba ang halos limang taon ng paghihintay?

Natagpuan ko na lamang ang sarili kong suot-suot ang pinaka bago kong polo, kapansin-pansin rin ang pabango kong humahalimuyak. Sinuklay sandali pakanan ang itim kong buhok at voila! Handa na akong sumama sa pakulo ng lokong ito.

Wala akong ideya kung saan kami magpupunta. Nakasunod lamang ako kay Jose. Sumulyap ako sa relo na regalo ni itay sa akin noong isang taon, sinuot ko dahil pakiwari ko’y may dalang suwerte ang relong ito. Mag aalas onse medya na.

Sunday morning as I get up from bed, that familiar caress of the air balance my mood.

I smiled, closing my eyes till the wind whispers smoothly in my ear .

There he goes again, smiling at me, waiting.

I welcome his freezing arm and let our hug warms up everything. “I can’t come, still not today loves.” I kissed his crinkled nose, his face disappointed.

“Pare saan ba talaga tayo pupunta? Tama ba ‘tong binabagtas na’tin? Liblib na sa lugar na ‘to at parang walang katao-tao,” nagaalalang tanong ko.

“Easy ka lang parekoy, naghihintay na sa’yo doon ‘yong blind date na sinet-up ko para sa’yo.

Magugustuhan mo siya panigurado,” pahayag niya habang bakas na bakas sa mukha ang ngiting aso.

“Siguraduhin mo lang Jose, alam mo naman na siguro ang mga tipo ko,” natatawa kong sagot sa kaniya.

Ito ay kwento ng magamang Seok-Woo (Gong Yoo sa totoong buhay) at Su-an (Kim Soo-Ahn sa totoong buhay) na mayroong internal conflicts na iniyakan ng marami, dahil ang amang si Seok-Woo ay nawawalan na ng oras sa kaniyang anak na si Su-an dahil sa kaniyang trabaho.

May insidenteng nangyari sa pelikula na binigyan ni Seokwoo ng regalo ang kaniyang anak ngunit imbis na matuwa ay nalungkot pa ito dahil nairegalo na pala ito sa kaniya ng kaniyang ama no’ng huling kaarawan niya.

Kaya’t itong si Su-an ay gustong magpuntang Busan (isang lugar sa South Korea) upang doon ay makita niya ang kaniyang ina. Tinatalakay rin sa pelikula ang hidwaan sa pagitan ng mga magulang ni Su-an.

At doon sa tren na sinasakyan nilang mag-ama papuntang Busan nangyari ang malagim na karanasan para sa kanila. Dito’y ipinakita at bumuhos ang iba’t-ibang emosyon mula sa mga karakter na nasa loob ng nasabing tren.

Talaga ngang nagtagumpay sina Lee Dongha, Jang Kyungik (producers) at Yeon Sang-ho (director) sa pagbuo ng pelikula na may ganitong tema dahil bukod sa kilabot at talagang kumurot ang bawat eksena sa mga sumubaybay.

But before knowing her as the beauty queen and title holder she is now, she was a mass communication graduate of Bulacan State University and was a varsity volleyball player. More than that, there is more of the Jeslyn Santos we already know.

But before reaching the top of her life-long dream, it wasn’t an easy journey for her. She was part of different beauty pageants, actually she joined Bb. Pilipinas twice, in 2014 and 2016 but didn’t make any place. But look at where she is now.

She then, stated that it was Bb. Pilipinas that inspired her in this pageant, that Bb. Pilipinas made her question is she was really for pageants and so when the opportunity came in knocking, she knew her faults through the past competitions and did so well this time that she brought the title home. But then of course, her family is also her inspiration.

But before going deep through the crown, the story that changed the mind of the masscomm graduate turned beauty queen- epic.

But keeping the poise and the beauty queen standards aside, Santos revealed that is a very jolly, energetic and happy-going person, her traits that not everybody knows.

WITH THE CROWN The ‘transformation realization’ was in a snap but the process wasn’t easy. Santos revealed that on her past pageants she wasn’t that diligent of a participant in the training needed for the competition and that was when it snapped her, that probably it was that seriousness that she lacked is the key to win the contest- an international pageant.

“Focus ako sa Q&A, focus ako sa training. Even kasi yung Q&A ko Spanish, finocus ko ‘yon.

Sabi ko hard work talaga” Upon winning the crown last September 24, Santos returned home on the 27th and narrated her feeling upon arriving back at her homeland, the Philippines.

“Actually my first tungtong sa Pilipinas is tumulo talaga yung luha ko” was her initial reaction upon arriving, seemed like her arrival just happened minutes before the interview, that her reaction felt fresh and raw.

But I lost my reason just after reading the first page of the book and came back to my senses after finishing the third one. And so going back, FSD did drive me a lot crazier than the first.

Aside from the “carpe diem” which I personally fond, walking before running is probably the best lesson the book gave. It made you realize that there is no rush and there is no point in rushing things.

Reading it was like watching a series you never wanted to stop watching. As soon as I find myself at the end of every chapter I would immediately read the next until I reach the ending, I was so into it. It was a new genre, fresh story line and it was just so pleasingly attractive. I recall the first time I read it way back, I read the second book in just a day and it was insane.

Not to mention my undying love for Charlie Tango, and dying heart when it actually went missing. And how Ana’s heart sank hearing the news and how everyone worried and Christian started seeing how everybody loved him

and that he should start accepting that. Definitely, one of my favorite parts and the unexpected twist of Christian the submissive, of Christian the lost and hurt boy who was so afraid of losing Ana that he indeed adjusted in every aspect. That is what it does – love.

So, the reason to go check out and read?

It is because it is bound to hit theaters this February 2017. No, really, humor aside.

SINGKABAN FESTIVAL 2016

On-call reminiscing: old memories, duties

“O

h my gosh! I’m not prepared. I should be here in Pampanga for our family reunion. Ugh! Scratch that. I need to go.”

7 am. 2 hours travel from Pampanga, I’m still early, I know I can make it. I’m on my way to Malolos, Bulacan for the Singkaban Festival. Our Editor-inChief assigned me to cover that event. So, even though we don’t have classes and I’m not really prepared, I still need to go. On-call duties.

“Beep,beep,beep” 9 am. Malolos area. Every vehicles are horning because the traffic is too heavy. We’re stocked here for almost 30 minutes! Bad day! I’m going to be late, supposedly I’m in the event now. I went down from the UV express (which, by the way, not really an express), I walked even the sun rays almost burn me down and my sweat is literally all over my face. I looked around, the vehicles are really bumper to bumper, I wonder why.

At last, I reached the event area, with my sweaty shirt and haggard face. Downside of on-call duties.

The program already started when I finally got there.

Just wow! Everything I see now are beautiful. The floats were so colourful and obviously made with effort. Every floats represents their towns or school that shows different trademarks. It looks amazing in my eyes, probably with the people around me too, because they are taking pictures and videos in the event. I won’t doubt them, ‘cause every float are worth documenting. What’s more in my part? Perks of on-call duties.

On the middle of the parade, one float really captured my attention, it’s the Meycuayan float. There’s a beautiful young lady standing in their float with a fierce look, I don’t know if that’s part of her role or it’s because of the heat, it’s a funny conclusion I know! But seriously, what really captured my attention in that float

Every floats represents their towns or school that shows different trademarks are the 4 young man dancing like robots behind the lady. It looks good. It makes them outstanding among the floats, for me. I love this on-call duty.

Famous chef Boy Logro was also in the parade. I was shock, really. He was riding the Sweet and Fit Stevia float, which according to the banner is a program for a cause. It’s really nice knowing that Chef Boy Logro is doing a program like that. He’s a good man. I remember, he even joke to us that he will serve free taste after the program, which I don’t know if true. Haha. There’s still funny scenes in this on-call duty.

The program is already done. Thankfully, I still got enough information even I’m late. Hmm, what should be the focused of my article? Should it be Chef Boy Logro? Or the Meycuayan float?

What if the whole event? Or better way, the on-call duty.

BULACAN- Even with struggles, Bulakenyos managed happiness.

Festivity is once again here in the province of Bulacan. Where people walk and run to witness the vivid and lively image of Bulacan at different expenses.

Bulacan, a 437-yearold province celebrates its birthday, its grand birthday that everyone would like to witness.

The party? It’s called SINGKABAN. The theme? “Lalawigan ay Ikarangal, Kasaysayan, Sining at Kultura ay Itanghal Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, which actually showcase the history, through exhibits, culture, by events, and tradition as this festivity goes on for a week long.

Singkaban, meaning, “Sining at Kalingangan ng Bulacan” is where bamboos are the main attraction of most things. Speaking of bamboos, I think I’ve seen one, too many of them during the opening.

The best way to feel the vibe of its festivity is through the opening. Aside from the welcoming speeches and such, cities of Bulacan come as one to show their place’s product. Of course, through the floats!

It was a sunny day, probably the sun was helping the people feel the heat of the event but in a short while, those flashy colors of different floats pass by your eyes, heat no more.

The floats are just the symbolism of hard work, of how these people willingly made complicated designs to fit their float and the place they’re representing.

The feeling in there was really overwhelming as people, even drenched in sweat, manages to smile, perform and wave to the audience while on parade.

Aside from the bright colors of the floats, history was shared as well.

How fascinating that of a single ride, that truck with no color became a representative of a place that

speaks so much about it for a day.

It’s rather a rare chance to see all these provinces unite as one, celebrate as one.

Bulacan State University Gold gears outscored Olivares College sea lions hitting their 3-3 win lose record.

Together with the literally playful hands of De Leon and Fajardo, Bulacan State University disregarded Olivarez’s home court advantage as they go home with 96-91 digits favoring them.

Proving they can dribble up to the end, Gold gears rises from downfall making scores closer to winning.

A supporter of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel died of heart attack after the team ended its 8 year title drought Christopher Gallardo, a 44 year old avid fan of Ginebra who lived in Meycauayan Bulacan passed away right after BGSM claimed its Governor Cups Title. Gallardo experienced heart attack due to said extreme happiness.

Maverick Ahamnisi stepped up leading ROS with 20 points, following him was the ‘extra rice’ Beau Belga who earned 15 ball points.

The newly traded Jay Washington in exchange for JR Quinahan who’s now playing for Global Port also contributed scoring a total points of 15.

James Yap on the other hand who was traded to ROS in exchange for Paul Lee failed to play the 3 games

as he was recovering from an Anthroscopic surgery on his knee.
