On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is our pleasure to welcome you to Revival Theatre Company’s eleventh season! Thank you for sharing our passion for musical theatre and joining us for what promises to be an unforgettable year.
Fresh off our triumphant tenth anniversary season, which culminated in a sold-out run of La Cage aux Folles , we are thrilled to continue our tradition of presenting both classic musicals and contemporary gems, including an Iowa premiere this fall. As Cedar Rapids’ professional theatre company, we remain dedicated to our mission of filling a unique artistic and audience need by showcasing exceptional local talent alongside professional actors from across the country. Now in our second decade, Revival Theatre Company is poised to deliver even more vibrant, high-quality musical theatre to our community.
None of this would be possible without you—our cherished audience— and the generous support of countless individual donors. If you enjoy your experience with RTC, we warmly invite you to become a season subscriber and consider supporting us as a donor. Your contributions help sustain the artistry and energy of our productions. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to CSPS, our valued partner and home to RTC’s offices. We look forward to deepening this collaboration as we continue to thrive as their resident theatre company.
Thank you for being part of our journey. Here’s to an extraordinary season of music, stories, and connection!

One of the most exciting things I get to do each year is share what our programming is going to be. Our eleventh season is no different. We open with a new contemporary story about how we come together in a show of humanity when faced with tragedy and grief in the inspiring true story of Come From Away . From one of the greatest composers and lyricists of our time, Stephen Sondheim, we bring this rarely produced gem and one of my favorites, Merrily We Roll Along to the stage. A story about growing up. We close the season with a show that stands the test of time, an American classic that becomes more relevant with each passing decade in Fiddler on the Roof. We’ve also programmed an anticipated partnership with our friends at Orchestra Iowa with the Broadway Pops and our 3rd annual fundraiser will bring the house down with Shawndell Young and Alica Monee. We’ve seen a 50% increase in season subscriptions. What this tells us is our patrons know they can expect an exceptional experience when attending an RTC show.
Many individuals have worked hard since our founding to get us where we are today. Many of those believed in the dream Cameron Sullenberger and myself envisioned. I'm so pleased and grateful for the support from the board of directors, the guild, and staff who continue to help shape a strong future for RTC. If the past season was any indication of what RTC can do, imagine, with your support, what else could be in store.
Thank you for joining us this season. Cheers to endless dreams and thrilling musical experiences.

Box Office:

When we traveled to Newfoundland in September 2011 on the tenth anniversary of 9/11, we had no idea that our journey would bring us to Broadway. We spent a month in Gander, Newfoundland and the surrounding communities meeting with the locals, returning flight crews and pilots, and returning “come from aways” (a Newfoundland term for a visitor from beyond the island) who gathered to celebrate the hope that emerged from tragedy.
We didn’t know what we were looking for, but thankfully the people of Newfoundland are incredible storytellers. As we heard numerous tales of ordinary people and extraordinary generosity, it became clear that during the week of 9/11, for the 7,000 stranded

passengers and people of Newfoundland, the island was a safe harbor in a world thrown into chaos.
We laughed, we cried, we were invited over for dinner and offered cars. We made lifetime friends out of strangers and we came home wanting to share every story we heard – about 16,000 of them! Through this journey, we’ve learned it’s important to tell stories about welcoming strangers and stories of kindness. It’s important to honor what was lost and commemorate what was found.
Thank you for joining us on this journey and adding your story.

Merrily We Roll Along begins in the present and moves backwards, tracing the lives of wealthy, jaded composer, Franklin Shepard, and his two estranged friends through each milestone of their personal and professional lives (good and bad). The show ends with a touch of rueful irony, as the three best friends at the start of their careers face a bright future: young, talented and enthusiastic about the worlds waiting to be conquered. Stephen Sondheim and George Furth expertly blend the excitement and energy of a backstage musical with a poignant and emotional contemporary story about the importance of staying true to one’s ideals.

‘It’s a new world, a new world. Love.’
It’s 1905 in the tiny village of Anatevka where Tevye, a Jewish milkman, lives his life by their proud traditions. For his five daughters, that means a visit from the matchmaker… But as each daughter challenges his beliefs, against the backdrop of a changing world, can Tevye hold on to his roots, or must he bend to the will of his children and learn to embrace the unfamiliar? Featuring glorious songs, ‘If I Were A Rich Man’, ‘Tradition’, ‘Matchmaker’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunset’, this classic musical of joy, revolution and community is an exuberant celebration of love and life.
