FOR TODAY, TOMORROW AND THE NEXT GENERATION Leaving a gift in your Will to Revitalise

We are the people who create revitalising breaks for disabled people and carers, and we have been doing this for nearly 60 years. Today, we provide more than 4,500 breaks each yearand we welcome an army of volunteers who create a truly memorable experience for people who need nursing care.

In the UK, one in seven of us give unpaid care for a loved one. Revitalise recognises that real care means being there 24 hours a day, seven days a week, looking after both physical and emotional needs.

For the guests who come through our doors and the carers who love them so much, Revitalise is a chance to escape, and a lifeline. Our work to provide a break for everyone who needs one, however, is far from done. Right now, there are an estimated 540,000 people in the UK who could benefit from a Revitalise break, and together with you, we will not stop until every single person can access the break they deserve.

Gifts in Wills allow us to do just that, to give essential breaks to so many people who may never have been able to afford one otherwise. Whatever you decide to leave, your kind gift will have a direct impact on future generations. We could not do it without you.

Thank you for your support and generosity.

Shaun and Hilary

Shaun is just 32 years old, following an accident 15 years ago he has needed round the clock care from his mum Hilary. Every single step of the way Hilary has been there supporting her son. Shaun has been going on Revitalise breaks for the last 12 years. Hilary wouldn’t call herself a carer, it’s something she does as his mum. She admits however that the last 15 years haven’t been easy. That’s why in June, whilst Shaun was on his Revitalise break, we were delighted to offer Hilary her own holiday in a beautiful cottage in the Lakes. Her free, weeklong break was courtesy of our partner Holiday Property

Jerry ward -former RAF pilot

Jerry flew the Lancaster Bomber over Buckingham Palace for the 50th anniversary of VE day, dropping a million poppies over the veterans and royal family. At the age of just 48, before he was set to retire, he was asked to pilot one last flight to Mexico. Whilst there he went for a brief swim in the ocean but getting out, he was hit by a sudden wave that knocked him down, breaking his neck and nearly drowning him.

That night, his family flew to Mexico from the UK. When they arrived, he was paralysed from the neck down, but he was still able to talk and breathe. However, his condition quickly deteriorated. Jerry soon lost his ability to speak and needed a feeding tube and ventilator to breathe.

Since his accident, Jerry found Revitalise where he takes frequent breaks, he feels right at home.

“For me, having a place where I don’t need to worry about my disability is important and means I can enjoy my breaks. It’s hard to go through life with a broken neck and be in a wheelchair, but Revitalise

Bond and the Revitalise Support Fund, which gifts in Wills help towards.

“Shaun is my life and since his accident I’ve dedicated myself to him, and that’s how it should be, I’m his mum. However, everyone needs a break, especially when some days can be such a struggle. I took my other son Josh on the holiday in the lakes and we had such an amazing time, it couldn’t have been better, even the weather was beautiful! But my time away meant so much more than a simple holiday from home, I could feel the effect for weeks after. I felt that my mood had been lifted, like there was a ray of sunshine and a ray of hope. It’s not often I feel so positive, in fact, I feel better than I have in the last 15 years.”

4,511 WEEKS

OF ESSENTIAL BREAKS ENJOYED IN 2018 makes sure it’s an all-inclusive environment. In December 2018 I was readmitted to hospital with life-threatening pneumonia, but miraculously I recovered. Upon discharge I promptly set out for a six weeklong stay at Revitalise, I knew it was just what I needed to relax and enjoy myself while still receiving the high-level of care I needed. When I’m at Revitalise, it allows my wife and family a break from caring. It’s as much of a break for my wife as it is for me. My family also come to visit me and we enjoy going out to pubs and restaurants together. They don’t need to worry about my medical care, so we get to spend time together as a family.”
