Se encuentran a 3 km de la plaza principal. Existe servicio de transporte público local desde la plaza principal y calles aledañas de Chivay, con una frecuencia de 20 minutos.

Estas aguas son provenientes del Volcán Cotallaulli, y tienen una temperatura que bordea los 80°C a 85°C, pero en su recorrido la temperatura disminuye y llega al complejo propiamente dicho con una temperatura de 38°C, que permite bañarse plácidamente en sus aguas. Las aguas Termales de La Calera son visitadas debido a que se les atribuye propiedades de curación para diversos males; sobre todo reumatismo y muchos otros relacionados con los músculos y la piel.

Las aguas volcánicas de La Calera contienen 30% de calcio, 19% zinc y 18% de hierro, elementos que pueden ser absorbidos por los poros y ayudan a los dolores musculares y óseos.

Evidentemente las cristalinas aguas poseen propiedades curativas para diversos males, por su composición especial; en ese sentido se han realizado estudios por entidades especializadas y extranjeras. Muchos de los turistas que visitan por largo tiempo esta zona de Arequipa lo hacen con el único propósito de gozar de los beneficios naturales que les da el continuo uso de estos baños.

Además, están las aguas termales de Chacapi, Puye I, II y III y las privadas en Yanque; las aguas termales de Sallihua y Umaru en Coporaque, así como también las de Koñecmayo en el distrito de Caylloma y los baños del Inca en Callalli, entre otras.
