FROM THE EDITOR

Shots fired KERITH GABRIEL

T

his Memorial Day weekend came with the ultimate sacriďŹ ce. Listening to misconception after misconception about life in Philadelphia. While many of you made the annual pilgrimage to the shore, our caravan headed north to visit family and friends in town for the weekend. Their location is a gorgeous one, full of acres of green grass, majestic views of mountains and the peace and quiet you’d kill for sometime on the nights there’s police sirens, random ďŹ reworks and that drunk couple stumbling home from the bar. But the trip also left us open to a barrage of comments and questions about the city, and our decision to call it home. To be honest, the questions didn’t bother me as much as passive aggressive statements like: “I bet you guys don’t see this much grass every day, huh?â€? or “where can you go to you play with your [kids] like this in the city?â€? Our family is friends with a farmer replete with a full selection of all the classic barnyard animals. From a 2,100-pound bull to a selection of little ducks, there was so much to see. It was great to have my son see these animals up close in that setting because unless you head to the zoo or go check out Milkshake the Pig and the chickens at Greensgrow Farms, we’re not privy to animals up close and personal like that. But he wasn’t interested in the animals right away. Instead, he picked up a basketball and wanted to dribble and shoot. Again, the comments: “Of course, he goes for the basketball, little city boy.â€? “Come see the animals, I know you don’t get a chance to see them like this every day.â€? But the piece de resistance, were the barrage of questions about the section of the city I live, and how soon am I getting out. The reasons why I should consider ranged

3+,/$'(/3+,$:((./< &20

everything from how poor the school system is to the number of school shootings. An actual comment made was: “I’d just be terriďŹ ed every day to live in a place where you could walk out your door or walk down the street and get shot.â€? The only bullet I took was one for defending you this weekend, Philadelphia. It’s crazy to think that in a town less than 100 miles away from the city limits, there’s such a close-minded approach to city life. I love Philadelphia. I was born here, I grew up both within and just outside its conďŹ nes. I know that she’s a little rough around the edges, but I couldn’t imagine life anywhere else. Everywhere else feels like a vacation spot, you know the place you long to be to get away – but after a few days you’re ready to come home. This Memorial Day really helped to strengthen my bond, but really raise an eyebrow to the type of shit being portrayed each night on the evening news. As much as I really appreciate the hospitality and kindness of the family and friends that took us in, having to smile and nod through misconception and after painful misconception might have been the one moment throughout the trip I could’ve done without. I hope there will come a day when I’m the dad complaining about crabgrass, sitting around swapping stories with my neighbor on the good deal I got on my ride along mower, excited to have kids in a school district where education is paramount and the coursework offers a path to excellence without having to shell out thousands upon thousands of hard-earned dollars year after year. But that day is not today. Until that day comes, I got your back, Philly. I’ll take walking or biking over getting in my car to do pretty much everything. I’ll dine in your unbelievable restaurants and check out your incredible concerts and I’ll take the Market-Frankford Line to get there. I’ll revel in your diversity and culture, the latter of utmost importance to me, raising multicultural children. To wrap this up, I’d be remiss if I didn’t steal a line from our city’s most revered son, Meek Mill right now: “This is Philly, you welcome to come check us.â€? Q

Philly’s original beer snob Here’s some Philly Beer Week trivia for you: Centuries before Dock Street and Yards and Evil Genius, Philadelphia’s Quaker community planted the seeds for the beer renaissance. Many Quakers had their own home brewing operations long before it was trendy, and among them was none of than Pennsylvania’s founder William Penn. Asked to describe his ideal crib, Penn wrote that it “would have a Kitchen, two larders, a wash house & room to iron in, a brew house & in it an oven for bakeing [sic]. Q

But what do you really know about Wawa? The magazine Inc. took a deep dive into the 54-year-old family-owned business and came back with some astonishing details. Of note: Wawa rakes in $10 billion per year in revenue, serves more than 800 million customers a year and has about 30,000 employees – a staff that owns a 41 percent stake in the company. Q

MUSIC fashioned late '70s punk rock reminiscent of Iggy and the Stooges and Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers. The band’s front woman, Arrow de Wilde, made her band’s performance an interactive one. Anyone close enough to the stage was subject to tampering in some way, shape or form. Members of the audience had the credentials hanging from their necks ripped off and thrown around, their eyes creepily gazed into, and their hair messed with by de Wilde, proving that the stillteenaged group of punk rockers simply does not give a fuck about personal space. During the show, de Wilde hopped on the bar next to World Cafe Live’s upstairs stage and drank beer straight from the taps as the bartenders stared at each other wondering what to do. At the very end, she ran through the audience and, well, disappeared.

This year’s installment of Non Comm once again exposed the world to some of the best up-and-coming and established acts of music public radio has to offer.

Non Comm’s Five A review of the best acts on the stage at this year’s installment of the Non Commvention Festival BY TOM BECK

E

arlier this month, 32 bands came to Philadelphia for four days of great tunes for WXPN’s (88.5-FM) Non Commvention festival. The event, affectionately referred to as “Non Comm, is open mostly to those entrenched in the public radio/music media industry. As in past years, more than just a few bands kicked ass. Here’s a review of the best of the best.

Starcrawler Following their set, a fellow showgoer quizzically asked: What the hell was that? Starcrawler is a throwback to music you don’t commonly see anymore – good old

Jacob Banks, a soul and R&B artist from Birmingham, England, changed things up a bit in what was a very indie rock heavy lineup. His raspy voice was one that mesmerized the audience, who likely wasn't as familiar with Banks’ music as some of the other more high-proďŹ le artists on the bill. Dressed as if he just got back from a run in a full Nike tracksuit, Banks played the soulful music he’s been putting out since January 2013, when he released his ďŹ rst EP, entitled The Monologue. Since then, he’s released two more albums, one in 2015 called The Paradox, and another in 2017 called The Boy Who Cried Freedom. Songs like “Unknown (To You)â€? and “Chainsmokingâ€? are good starting off points if you’re looking to check out what Banks has to offer.

Lucy Dacus

IMAGE: TOM BECK

The sultry, raspy version of R&B from UK singer Jacob Banks was a refreshing break from the lineup of indie rock bands in attendance.

Lucy Dacus blushed as Bob Boilen, NPR’s progenitor of its Tiny Desk series, introduced Dacus as the songwriter behind his “favorite album of 2018 so far. If that made Dacus nervous, it certainly didn’t show. She played a series of tracks from that very album, which is called Historian, including “Addictions and “The Shell and capped off the set with “Night Shift, which was the singalong of the night. Clearly these radio industry peeps had done

their homework on Dacus, who to be fair, isn’t exactly a newcomer anymore after her equally great debut album, No Burden, was released in 2016. She gained a lot of publicity opening for Hamilton Leithauser on a tour promoting No Burden and Leithauser’s I Had a Dream That You Were Mine. If you haven’t checked out Dacus’ stuff, you’re already late to the party, but better late than never.

Low Cut Connie Philly’s hometown heroes have developed a reputation for being arguably the best live band in the city, and their Non Comm performance was no exception. The band played a variety of old and new tracks and wowed many out of towners in the audience (there were a lot of them, people from public radio stations from all over the country were invited to the set). Adam Weiner, the band’s singer/songwriter/pianist/ frontman who got his start in live music playing some of New York City’s grungiest gay bars, showed off his showmanship by playing the piano with his feet, swinging his hips and greeting members of the audience by taking a stroll through those who attended, greeting most of them with a hug. The band played old tracks like “Boozophila and “Shake It Little Tina as well as tracks from the band’s latest release, Dirty Pictures (Part 2), including the hit single “Beverly, “Oh Suzanne and a cover of Alex Chilton’s “Hey! Little Child.

Courtney Barnett Barnett’s new album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, is packed with the same sort of campy lyrics and head bobbing melodies dating back to her debut album, 2014’s The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas. Tracks lovers of her sound had learned to love several years ago, were on full display during her Non Comm show. Barnett’s performance easily took the cake for the best performance of the convention. She returns to Philly to play the Fillmore in October and you should buy tickets before it sells out; which looks pretty likely if her set at Non Comm was any indicator. Q TWITTER: @IMTOMBECK

Number of days chock-full of Philly Beer Week events ranging from instructional events like “Don’t F*ck up the Beer (June 7), a Philly Loves Beer curated event at Northern Liberties’ Urban Village, to offensive game events like Cards Against Humanity night at 2SP Brewing (1501 E. Passyunk Ave.)

11

Number of years Philly Beer Week has been an annual post-Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Philadelphia. In 2017, Philly Loves Beer celebrated “Ten Years of Beers, a notable milestone and anniversary considering what it was to the massive event it’s become from those early beginnings in the Spring-Summer of 2007.

It’s only right that a city rich in history finds many of those same milestones shared over a pint.

By the Numbers Check out the facts and figures that make up Philly’s best beer event BY KERITH GABRIEL

T

here’s more to the numbers that make up Philly Beer Week than the alcohol content of the brew. There’s a history and a science to the event that celebrates both a rich beer-making past and its revival to the region as, every day, more and more original craft breweries seem to be ďŹ nding their rightful home here in Philadelphia. Many of those same breweries have partnered with the folks at Philly Loves Beer to tell their stories, and

0$< -81(

through that collaboration, both the beer and the ďŹ gurative buzz they’ve received have made for Philadelphia’s stance as one of the ďŹ ve best beer cities in America, home to some of the best award-winning beers both nationally and worldwide. Along with that number here are a few others you should know before the start of Philly Beer Week, which kicks off with a relay of its iconic hammer throughout the city and Opening Tap, its swanky party chock-full of beer lovers of all types, both kicking off on June 1.

20

Number of head honchos that make up Philly Loves Beer. Christina Dowd serves as the organization’s executive director, and Casey Parker is the organization’s president. All of which is rounded out by a 14-member board consisting of guys like Tom Kehoe, the founder of Philly beer staple Yards Brewing, to Will Reed, co-owner of two of Philly’s best bars in No Libs’ Standard Tap and Fishtown’s Johnny Brenda’s.

16

The number of Pennsylvania beers that took home awards at last year’s Great American Beer Festival, the highest prize for beer in North America. Of the 16 awards, two came from breweries within the conďŹ nes of Philadelphia as Dock Street won bronze for its brown porter Man Full of Trouble, and Yards nabbed silver for its bitter Extra Special Ale. Gold went to one regional brewery in 2SP for its Belgian and French inspired ale, Grisette.

The number of prime tasting hours at this year’s Opening Tap, the signature event for Philly Loves Beer. Held yet again inside the Fillmore, the event will mark another night to sample great brews from all of the breweries (and a few that aren’t) under the PLB umbrella. Moody, ofďŹ cially continues with the upcoming third canning of his signature brew, nicethingsIPA. About a week before the annual party that is Philly Beer Week Opening Tap, Moody and the family at Dock Street threw a shindig of their own at the brewery’s cannery, announcing the re-re-re-can of the heady 6.4 percent pineapple-infused IPA. The timing perhaps couldn’t be more perfect with another installment of Philly Beer Week on June 1 and nicethingsIPA available in both cans and draft at

0$< -81(

more than 50 outlets throughout the region. To kickoff Philly Beer Week, the rapper even has a performance scheduled during its Opening Tap, held once again this year at the Fillmore. “I’m really excited every time we get another brew date, because [Dock Street and myself] really try to make it an event,â€? said Chill Moody, on the latest release. “I don’t want to stay ‘spectacle’ because that comes with a bit of a negative connotation but we always look to make something of it.â€? And the timing of Philly Beer Week? “[This year], the stars kind of aligned on this one. I had dreams of changing Philly Beer Week to ‘Chilly Beer Week,’ so it’s ofďŹ cial,â€? Moody jokes. “I’m out to make it Chilly Beer Week this year.â€? The collaboration of nicethingsIPA didn’t arrive easily for Moody and came with slowly learning the process of how beer gets born. You’d have to go back to 2015, when Dock Street released another pineapple-infused brew, a saison called “Ain’t Nothing to Funk With,â€? an homage beer to the Wu Tang Clan. Moody, at the brewery’s release event for that beer, wanted in, but it was Dock Street that pumped the brakes. “We ďŹ rst met Chill when we did the [Wu Tang beer] and he came up to us and said, ‘we should do this together,’ and all of us were like, ‘who is this guy?’â€? recalled Dock Street vice president Marilyn Candeloro. “We asked him what’s his story, and he said, ‘well, ‘I just want to brew an IPA.’ Well, we need

a story because we just don’t brew beer for the shit of it. But he kept coming around and took the time to form a strong friendship with our brewers. I got to know him and really see this whole presence that he has. He really promotes positivity and personally, I’m a big fan of that and for all of us [here at Dock Street], that’s really what the nicethingsIPA is all about. But Moody said while it was about the beer, it was also about Dock Street striving to be a part of his West Philly neighborhood, with its location nestled along the same streets he roamed as a kid. Streets that today look a lot different. “That neighborhood [where the brewery is] is the neighborhood I grew up in and I spent a lot of time there growing up, Moody said. “My aunt lives right on the corner of that block and I’ve seen how that area has

changed and been affected by gentriďŹ cation, a lot of people are being displaced and being replaced by businesses in that community. But Dock Street was a business that came in and tried as much as it could to give back and be a part of that community, and it was very inviting. You can ask anyone I know, you never felt like you weren’t welcomed when you went in there. I can’t say that about any other business in the neighborhood and it’s why I really wanted to make a beer with them.â€? With his hand in many hats, most notably a rap career that has been a dual benchmark of his success and being a true representative of Philadelphia, it’s been his positivity that has put people on notice, but this year he hopes his involvement with Philly Beer Week and a hopeful collaboration with Philly Loves Beer will serve to bring in a more diverse and inclusive corps of beer lovers and drinkers. “Opening Tap is one of my favorite events of the year, it gets crazy,â€? said Moody. “But it’s still just a hidden gem, in that I really don’t see a lot of other rappers there, so it’d be nice to make it more inclusive. The plan this year is to make it more inclusive and to do my part to bring everybody in. It’s a beer event, but it’s also a music event because [music is] usually tied to it. If you’re a lover of good music and a lover of good beer then you should be out there.â€?

“He’s just a positive kid from the neighborhood and he’s out there putting good energy into all that he does, how could we not want to work with someone like that? Plus, every time we release [nicethingsIPA] we have a party and who doesn’t love a good party? – DOCK STREET BREWERY VICE PRESIDENT MARILYN CANDELORO

Seems lofty, but, from what it sounds like, Moody doesn’t back down from a challenge. “He’s just a positive kid from the neighborhood and he’s out there putting good energy into all that he does, how could we not want to work with someone like that? said Candeloro. “He’s got this magic charisma and you just want to help him and be a part of what he represents – and honestly, it also it happens to be a really good beer. Plus, every time we release it we have a party and who doesn’t love a good party? Q TWITTER: @SPRTSWTR

The Port Richmond crabhouse has remade itself on Richmond Ave.

New game, same name Bonk’s Bar heads into its second Philly Beer Week representing Port Richmond. Here’s the story behind the pub’s old-meets-new makeover. BY MAX MARIN

H

oisted above Bonk’s Bar is a 30foot billboard advertising their famous selling point to drivers

on I-95. Crabs. They’ve been the specialty of this Port Richmond staple since it opened in 1978. And while the name and the mainstay product have stayed the same, Bonk’s today is anything but old school – especially when it comes to the beer. In 2016, Mike "Scoats" Scotese and Pat McGinley, the architects of Northeast Philly’s craft beer boom, took over this neighborhood institution on the corner of Tioga and Richmond streets

0$< -81(

to expand on their small empire. The duo also owns Grey Lodge in Mayfair, which has been hailed as “one of the city’s best beer bars, as well as SawTown Tavern in Tacony and Hop Angel Brauhaus in Fox Chase. Bonk’s, the youngest addition, has already garnered buzz since its Scoats-McGinley makeover, dubbed by Philadelphia magazine as one of last year’s best bar revivals. And like its sister bars, Bonk’s has become a rare success story of old meets new on Philly’s bar scene. “This is the future of neighborhoods bars, head chef Dan Sterns tells Philly Weekly. “That Coors Light and shot of your local whiskey bar is no more.

People want to come into a bar with nine different craft beers, they want 17 different avored vodkas, they want 10 different Irish whiskeys. The shot and beer places are dead now.â€? On a Thursday afternoon last week, a mix of regulars and destination drinkers ďŹ lter in for happy hour. There’s a standard playlist of nu-metal bands bumping on the digital jukebox. A half dozen people are spread across the bar, sipping beers from 10 rotating taps. (No crabs in sight yet.) There’s also a group of men gathered around a hightop table for a summer beer tasting promoted by Leinenkugel Summer Shandy – one of many events Bonk’s uses as a regular draw.

This week, Scotese’s and McGinley’s quarter of Northeast Bars will be participating in Philly Beer Week. They’ll be the ďŹ rst four stops during the Hammer of Glory relay on Friday, June 1, and each bar will also be featuring follow-up events catered to their individual tastes. But Bonk’s is striving to be a part of Philly’s food and booze scene year round. Every six weeks, Sterns and general manager Bobby Rea also regularly collaborate on pub-style whiskey dinners. $45 gets you six whiskies, dinner and dessert. Rea, an Irish immigrant with a thick brogue, handpicks the ight of liquors and Sterns fuses them into a dinner special, like a trout in connemara smoked whiskey sauce with ďŹ ngerling potatoes and asparagus. “That sells like fucking crazy,â€? Sterns says. Bonk’s wouldn’t be making its current comeback without the menu to match its ramped-up booze options – and this is where Sterns has taken the lead while sticking true to the pub’s seafood roots. First thing to know: Nothing is frozen. From 11 to 11 every day (midnight on the weekends) the kitchen crew serves up a changing menu of mostly seafoodbased inspirations, from mussels fra diavolo to oyster po boys. The crabs (dungeness, blue claw, snow) are priced at market rate, while pub sandwiches with fries are priced in the reasonable $10-$15 range. It’s mostly street parking at Bonk’s, but many of the regular diners and drinkers are within walking distance, from morning to evening. Lunch brings in plenty of sheet metal and concrete workers, Starnes says, who are fond of the shortrib grilled cheese, crab cakes and double-cooked buffalo wings. Dinner hours are family oriented – and mostly driven by specials which are regularly posted on Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram. And on the weekends, Sterns says, the bar has a regular crowd of younger Polish drinkers from the neighborhoods. Bonk’s management also has an idea in the works for a walk-up takeout sandwich shop in the works for the nearby factory workers who don’t have time for a sit-down lunch. For longtime Bonk’s regulars, the changes have been welcome, Sterns says, and keeping the original name hasn’t hurt. “It’s a neighborhood staple,â€? Sterns says. “There’s a nostalgia to it.â€? Dive bar wedding This couple got spontaneously married at Dirty Frank’s happy hour, with regulars as their witnesses BY MAX MARIN

T

his is a story about happy hour living up to its name. Cheryl Gittings went to Dirty Frank’s on Wednesday for the same reason she goes every week: Gail, the regular hump day barkeep, makes the best margaritas in Philly. But Gittings enjoys making new friends out of strangers, too, so when she noticed two especially happy women at the end of the bar, she invited them to join her crew of regulars for a round. But Morgan McKenna and Rowena D’Souza had more than drinks in mind. A few cocktails later, the young couple – a waitress from Connecticut and a med student from Mumbai – pulled out the wedding papers to show their newfound friends. They wanted to get married at Dirty Frank’s, they said. As in, right now. “It was so random,â€? Gittings said. “They were like, all we need is a couple witnesses.â€? It’s called a Quaker wedding – and it’s an increasingly popular thing in Philly. Thanks to a 17th century statute, Pennsylvania is one of the few states that allows couples to tie the knot without an ofďŹ ciant. No master of ceremonies. No justice of the peace. Document in hand, you and your lover can show up at any bar in the state and get hitched, so long as you can cajole two barmates to serve as witnesses. At Dirty Frank’s, one of Philly’s archetypal downtown dive bars, eager witnesses were in no short supply. Gittings, a DJ by trade, quickly got to work. She queued up a nuptial playlist on the juke-

3+,/$'(/3+,$:((./< &20

box while David, another regular who enjoys taking photos, served as the wedding’s impromptu iPhonographer. The couple signed their papers to Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon In The Sky,â€? and a round of applause from the dozen other drinkers at the bar. (Surprise: A few Philly journalists just happened to be on the scene.) Random? Sure. But the cash-only watering hole wasn’t exactly a whimsical venue for the couple. Six months ago to the day, D’Souza and McKenna met at the very same bar on 13th and Pine Streets. They were a rare Tinder success story, they say. “And our ďŹ rst date still hasn’t ended,â€? D’Souza said. (“That’s so gay,â€? McKenna joked.) The couple had originally wanted a City Hall wedding. But when they found out about a two-week waiting period, they opted for a self-uniting ceremony. They had picked the date – May 23, 2018 – and the only plan was to get hitched between sunrise and sunset. That morning they woke up in their downtown apartment with their cat, Mook, and went out in search of a venue. They stopped at Reading Terminal Market where they bought some bright owers, ďŹ ne cheeses and a nice bottle of champagne. By mid-afternoon, they found themselves at Dirty Frank’s. This wedding scene would not have been possible just four years ago. In May 2014, a federal judge issued a landmark ruling that Pennsylvania’s decades-old ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. But their union wasn’t without obstacles. D’Souza hails from India, a country where gay couples still face persecution under colonial-era laws and a staunchly conservative culture. She came to Philly for medical school, and while she had dated women before, McKenna was the ďŹ rst woman who made her feel the ineffable magic of love. “She felt like home to me, and to feel home in a foreign country is so rare,â€? D’Souza said. McKenna held D’Souza’s hand when she recently came out to her parents. To their immeasurable surprise, the parents opened their arms. “They said they love me no matter what,â€? D’Souza said. “She’s the smartest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever met,â€? McKenna said of D’Souza. “She cracks me up and catches me off guard and holds me accountable. She changed my life forever and I never want to be apart.â€? Q TWITTER: @MAXMMARIN

With the Viagra Patent About to Expire, a New Sex Pill Takes the Spotlight A patented pill costing less than $1 a dose stands to help millions of men with failing sex lives; no prescription will be required By Ray Wilson Associated Health Press AHP− A new sex pill is set to take the spotlight with the Viagra patent about to expire. But unlike the former, it won’t require a prescription and is priced just under a $1 a dose. The new pill called Vesele is part of a new class of performance enhancers for men, which work instantaneously on the body and mind triggering arousal and ďŹ rmer, harder erections. Formulated with a special compound known as an “acceleratorâ€?, Vesele can transport its active ingredients faster and more efďŹ ciently into the blood stream, where it begins to work its magic. The patented ingredient blend initiates a process known as vasodilation, which causes arteries and vessels throughout the body to expand. This allows blood to ow directly to penis and genitals, resulting in harder erections which last longer. Cialis and Viagra are based around a simlilar concept.

The result is a rush of blood ow to the penis and brain, helping to create an impressive erection and a surging desire for sex. Often, this is all men need to get going. And when taken regularly, many men say they are energized and aroused all day.

Great Sex At Any Age With the conclusion of their latest human clinical use survey trial, Dr. Esber and his team are now offering Vesele in the US. And regardless of the market, its sales are exploding. Men across the country are eager to get their hands on the new pill and according to the research, they should be. In the trial above, as compared to baseline, men taking Vesele saw a staggering 85% improvement in erection hardness over a four-month period. Their erections also lasted twice as long. These same men also experienced an astounding 82% increase in the desire for sex (libido/sex drive) and an even greater improvement in overall satisfaction and ability to satisfy their partners.

But what makes Vesele so remarkable, and what these other sex pills can’t do, is that also directs a small portion of this blood ow to the brain, which creates feelings of intense arousal. In laymen’s terms, users become incredibly excited and turned on.

Many men taking Vesele described feeling horny and aroused through the day. The anticipation before sex was amazing. They were also easily turned on. Their moods were more upbeat and positive, too.

This is why the makers of Vesele say their pill has worked so effectively in clinical trials. It stimulates the two most important organs for great sex, the penis and the brain.

Faster Absorption into the Blood Stream

The Brain Erection Connection Until now, medical researchers did not fully understand the brain-erection connection. It has now been made clear with Vesele. When both are supplied with a constant blood ow, men are harder and ďŹ rmer for longer...and have unbelievable sex drives. “Most of the research and treatment methods for men’s sexual failures have focused on physiological factors and have neglected the emotional ones. For the leading sex drugs to work, like Cialis and Viagra, you need visual stimulationâ€? explains Dr. Henry Esber, the creator of Vesele. “And although they work for some men, the majority experience absolutely no fulďŹ llment during sex. According to research published by the National Institute of Health, 50% of men taking these drugs stop responding or can’t tolerate their side effects...and on top of that they spend $50 per pill and it doesn’t even work half the time. This is what makes Vesele so different and effective. It oods the blood stream with key ingredients which cause arteries all over the body to expand. The patented accelerator speeds up this process even more.

Vesele is made up of three specialized ingredients: two clinical strength vasodilators and a patented absorption enhancer often called an accelerator. According to an enormous amount of clinical data, each is very safe. Research shows that with age, many men lose their desire and interest in sex. They also struggle to produce an erection ďŹ rm enough for penetration. And although there are many theories as to why this happens (including a loss in testosterone) one thing is certain, inadequate blood ow is virtually always to blame. That’s why sex drug manufacturers focus on blood ow, it makes your erection hard. But what’s more surprising, and what these manufacturers have failed to consider, is that lack of blood ow can also kill your sex drive. That’s because blood supplies energy for the brain. This energy is required for creating brainwaves that cause excitability and arousal. Studies show the Vesele stimulates the entire cardiovascular system, including the arteries that lead to both the brain and penis. The extreme concentration of the ingredients combined with the accelerator ensures that this process starts quickly. The sexual beneďŹ ts of Vesele are also multiplied as its ingredients build up in the system over time. This is why many men take it every single day.

Expiring Patent Opens the Door to a New Sex Pill: Vesele is a new pill that cost just $1 a dose does not require a prescription. It works on both body and mind to increase arousal and erection hardness.

Recent Studies Show Positive Effects on Women In the same study referenced throughout, Vesele was also shown to have an amazing (and somewhat surprising) effect on women too. That’s because the same arteries and vessels that carry blood and oxygen to the brain and genitals are the same in men and women. “In our most recent study, women taking Vesele saw a stunning 52% improvement in arousal and sex drive. Perhaps more impressive, they also experienced a 57% improvement in lubrication. You can imagine why some couples are taking Vesele together. Everything feels better. Everything works better. Everyone performs better. It’s truly amazing.

A New Frontier of Non-Prescription Sex Pills With daily use, Vesele is helping men (and women) restore failing sex lives and overcome sexual lets downs without side effect or expense. Through a patented absorption enhancer, the Vesele formula hits the bloodstream quickly, resulting in phenomenal improvements in erection ďŹ rmness and hardness. By boosting blood ow to the brain, users also experience sexual urges and arousal they often haven’t felt in years.

Where to Find Vesele This is the ofďŹ cial release of Vesele in New Jersey. As such, the company is offering a special discounted supply to anyone who calls within the next 48 hours. A special hotline number and discounted pricing has been created for all New Jersey residents. Discounts will be available starting today at 6:00AM and will automatically be applied to all callers. SAVAGE LOVE

What works off if rather than simply hearing “Excuse me when you are inadvertently in someone’s way, the person trying to gain access says, “Do you have to stand there? – Just Seems Rude

DAN SAVAGE

I

am a 38-year-old gay man with a serious problem. My boyfriend of ďŹ ve years has developed a strange fascination. We’ve always watched porn together, but now he has been looking at straight porn and even lesbian porn (!!!) more and more often. More than once he has expressed an interest in having a MMF threesome – and he’s a self-proclaimed gold-star gay! This week, I discovered he had hidden a Fleshlight from me. I could tell he had used it. What is going on with him? On the other hand, we still have sex pretty frequently. He really gets off when I call his ass a “pussy,â€? which I’ll do to turn him on, but I ďŹ nd it pretty weird. He also tells me he gets off on the thought of the two of us fucking a woman together. This really seems bizarre! Could my beautiful bottom boy be turning bi? If he is, I don’t know how we can handle it. – Guy Alarmed, Yeah, By Younger Boyfriend’s Interest Turning bi? Unlikely. Always was bi and only just realized it? Likelier. Always was bi but identiďŹ ed as gay because (1) he prefers men as romantic partners and (2) the biphobia he encountered in gay male spaces/bedrooms/buttholes convinced him to stay closeted but he doesn’t want to live a lie anymore and he’s done hiding from the man he loves but instead of using his words and coming out to you like a grown-up, GAYBYBI, your boyfriend is letting you know he’s bi with his porn choices and a big push to make a MMF threesome sound like a sexy adventure you would both enjoy? Likeliest. As for how to handle it, GAYBYBI, you’ll have to use your words: Ask your boyfriend if he’s bi. (Spoiler: He’s bi, bi-curious, or so homoexible he could tour with Cirque du Soleil.) If you’re not interested in having sex with women, tell him so. If being with you means he can never have sex with a woman, tell him so. And if you would never knowingly date a bi guy, tell him he deserves better. A relationship question that doesn’t involve sex: Occasionally when two people live together, they bump into each other or one may get in the way of the other. Is it reasonable to be put

3+,/$'(/3+,$:((./< &20

People who are courteous to strangers (“Excuse me, can I squeeze past you?â€?) and contemptuous with intimate partners (“Do you have to stand there, you fucking dumbass?â€?) don’t value their partners and don’t deserve intimacy. People who are assholes to everyone don’t deserve intimacy either, of course, but they get points for being consistent. I recently spent a wonderful weekend with a young woman from out of town who identiďŹ es as queer and poly. Being the curious guy I am, I had her explain what these things meant to her. She went on to say that she is considering changing from poly to nonmonogamous. I ďŹ nd this confusing. I’m certainly nonmonogamous, but I’ve never thought of myself as poly. What is the difference? – Confused Over Lines Inside Names I would describe the difference as googleable, COLIN. But since you asked: A non-monogamous person has sex with their partner and others; a poly person has or is open to having committed and concurrent romantic relationships. For one example: An ethically non-monogamous woman fucks the boyfriend/husband she loves and other guys she doesn’t; a poly woman has two (or more) guys she both loves and fucks. I recently posted an online ad for a jack-off buddy. I got a response from a man who turned out to be a gorgeous, young Sri Lankan dude with a huge, beautiful uncut cock. Anyway, I was really looking forward to him jacking me off and vice versa. But when I arrived, he said he was only interested in me giving him a massage and then a handjob. Apparently, he’s a straight guy who wanted to experiment with men in a very limited way. Like I said, SUPER HOT, so I happily obliged. But after he came, I was really aching for release myself. But as I stated earlier, he made it clear he did not want to reciprocate. After we were ďŹ nished, he indicated that he might hit me up again. Do you think I should continue with the massage and “happy endingâ€? in hopes he will someday feel comfortable enough to reciprocate? Or should I just go ahead and ďŹ nd myself another jack-off buddy? – Craving Uncut Masculine Sri Lankan
