Celebrating Justice Phillip Boulten: A Distinguished Appointment to the Supreme Court of NSW

It is with immense pride and deep personal affection that I, Daryl Melham, Patron of Revesby Workers’ Club, pay tribute to my dear friend The Hon. Justice Phillip Boulten on his distinguished appointment to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Phillip has been part of the Revesby Workers’ family since 1977, and his status as a Perpetual Member reflects not only his longstanding connection to our Club, but also the respect and admiration he has earned within our community. His presence has always been marked by humility, warmth, and genuine engagement with the people around him.

As a friend, I have had the privilege of witnessing Phillip’s remarkable journey through the legal profession. His appointment to the Supreme Court is the culmination of a career built on uncompromising integrity, profound legal expertise, and an unwavering commitment to justice. Phillip’s dedication to the rule of law has never wavered; he has consistently delivered fair, principled, and compassionate judgement throughout his many years of service.

A Patron is a person who has given many years of support to the Club.

Beyond the courtroom, Phillip has given generously of his time and energy to public service and community initiatives. This has always been one of his defining qualities—his desire to give back, to uplift others, and to strengthen the society he serves.

This new chapter in his already distinguished career is one he richly deserves. I have no doubt that Phillip will bring to the Supreme Court the same wisdom, professionalism, and thoughtfulness that have defined every step of his journey.

On behalf of Revesby Workers’ Club—and personally, as his friend—I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Justice Phillip Boulten as he assumes this prestigious and important role.

Report Executive

Dear Members,

We hope you were able to enjoy the Easter long weekend and take the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time with family and friends. Whether you travelled, celebrated with loved ones, or simply embraced some well deserved downtime.

UPDATE: NEW GAMING & TRADING HOURS

The NSW Government has introduced standardised gaming hours, now permitting gaming only between 10:00am and 4:00am. The Club will trade from 9:00am to 4:00am, with Café 240 opening at 9:00am, Bar and Gaming from 10:00am, and Reception from 10:00am. These changes support statewide harm minimisation measures, and we thank members for their understanding as the new hours took effect on Monday 30 March.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Making over $66,000, this years International Women's Day was our most successful yet.

We are delighted to share that this year’s International Women’s Day event was our most successful yet, raising an outstanding $66,792.95 for Biyani House – Revesby Women’s Shelter. This marks the largest contribution we have ever achieved through this event and reflects the incredible generosity, spirit, and unity of our community. Over the past six years, International Women’s Day at Revesby Workers’ has become more than a fundraising initiative—it has grown into a powerful occasion that celebrates women, inspires progress, and champions inclusivity.

This year’s speakers, Natalie Cooney and Molly Croft, shared powerful and inspiring stories that deeply resonated with all in attendance. Their reflections highlighted the significance of open conversations and reinforced the need for continued action and support within our community. Our panel with rugby league trailblazer Tarsha Gale and renowned football coach Tom Sermanni was a tremendous success, offering powerful insights into advocating for women’s sport and strengthening pathways, visibility, and equity for female athletes.

This milestone would not have been possible without the support of Leagues Club Australia. We are also grateful for the generosity of our industry partners, event sponsors, and Clubs across NSW, whose ongoing commitment continues to strengthen Biyani House and the broader International Women’s Day movement as we work together toward a future where we can #GiveToGain and #BalanceTheScales.

We also extend our sincere thanks to our Marketing and Food & Beverage teams for their exceptional work in organising and delivering this event. The success of the day is a testament to their commitment, teamwork, and professionalism.

MAYOR'S 24-HOUR CHALLENGE FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Our Club is proud to have participated in the Mayor’s 24 Hour Challenge for Mental Health in April, an event dedicated to raising awareness, fostering community connection, and supporting the wellbeing of young people within Canterbury Bankstown.

As part of our ongoing commitment to community service and social responsibility, we are pleased to confirm that the Club has made a contribution of over $11,000 in support of Charlotte’s Wish Scholarships, delivered through the Step Into Action Foundation. This donation will assist in providing essential mentorship, mental health support, and development opportunities for young people across the region.

We are honoured to support an initiative that aligns closely with our values and strengthens the wellbeing of our community. We look forward to continuing our involvement in programs that promote inclusiveness, resilience, and positive outcomes for all.

CELEBRATING ONE YEAR OF PURPLE FRIDAYS

In May, we proudly celebrate one year of the Purple Friday Initiative—a milestone that reflects our Club’s unwavering commitment to promoting respectful relationships and standing united against domestic and family violence. What began as a simple idea—wearing purple shirts each Friday—has grown into a powerful symbol of awareness, solidarity, and hope. Over the past year, our staff have embraced this initiative wholeheartedly, turning every Friday into a visible reminder that our Club says Yes to Respectful Relationships, and No to Violence.

From day one, Purple Fridays have sparked meaningful conversations, encouraged learning, and strengthened our connection to the community and support partners. The initiative has become more than a uniform; it is a statement of who we are and what we stand for. As we mark this first anniversary, we extend a heartfelt thank you to every staff member who has proudly worn their purple shirt and helped foster a safer, more supportive environment. Your participation continues to make a real difference.

We also proudly acknowledge the ClubsNSW statewide initiative being held on the 8 May, which unites clubs across New South Wales in raising awareness and taking a collective stand against domestic and family violence. We are proud to stand alongside our industry partners and fellow clubs in supporting this important campaign and reinforcing the message that respect and safety must always come first.

Here’s to the next year of awareness, unity, and positive change. Together, we stand strong. Together, we say NO.

As we look ahead to the coming months, we remain committed to strengthening our community, supporting meaningful initiatives, and delivering exceptional experiences for our members. Thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you around our Club.

Director Reports

As we move into the next quarter, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the strong start to the year and highlight some key initiatives, events, and reminders across our Club. It’s been a period marked by community engagement, operational focus, and exciting developments for our members and guests.

International Women’s Day Wrap-Up

This year’s International Women’s Day was a standout success, bringing together members, guests, and staff to celebrate and recognise the achievements of women in our community. Attendance exceeded expectations, and the positive feedback reinforces the importance of continuing to support meaningful and inclusive events.

Purple Shirts – One Year On

It has now been one year since the introduction of our Purple Shirts initiative. This program has become a visible and valued symbol of our commitment to community awareness and support. The impact over the past 12 months has been significant, both in engagement and in strengthening our Club’s role within the broader community.

Last Quarter Community Funding

We are proud to have continued our support for local organisations through our quarterly funding program. This past quarter saw contributions directed towards a range of sporting groups, charities, and community initiatives. Thank you to all involved in helping us make a difference at a grassroots level.

Revesby Workers' Football Club

Revesby Workers' Football Club that I’m the Liaison Director for have had a great start to the season with 32 teams and over 450 Players for the 2026 season. Revesby Workers' Football Club had been running Summer Competitions and Pre Season Programs in preparation for the winter season that kicked off in April.

Illawong Revesby Workers' Athletics

Illawong Revesby Workers' Athletics a Sub Club that I’m also Liaison Director for have had another great season with New Club Record’s being broken in High Jump, and track events.

The Club has also had members representatives in many Major Tournaments across the Summer Season. Congratulations to all athletes competing and a thank you to the wonderful Volunteer Committee who again have gone above and beyond to round out another season.

It’s been pleasing to see so much activity around the club with our events calendar continues to grow, with a diverse lineup of entertainment, promotions, and special events. Members are encouraged to stay up to date via our website, in-club screens, and communications channels. We have an exciting schedule of live performances and ticketed shows coming up. Early demand has been strong, so we recommend securing tickets in advance to avoid missing out.

A reminder to all members that unused loyalty points are subject to our annual points purge policy. Members are encouraged to check their balances and redeem points prior to the cutoff date to avoid disappointment. Our team is available to assist with any enquiries regarding the program.

Thank you to our members, staff, and community partners for your continued support. The momentum we’ve built this quarter sets a strong foundation for the months ahead, and we look forward to delivering even more value, experiences, and community impact.

Illawong Revesby Workers' Athletics.

Over the past few months, I have had the privilege to attend some incredible and inspiring events at the Revesby Workers’ Club.

At International Women’s Day, a sold-out audience in our Whitlam Theatre, we were treated to a number of inspirational speeches from cancer survivors, company CEOs and leaders in Women’s sport with messages of resilience, commitment and equality. Guests experienced a magnificent meal prepared by our catering staff and the service and professionalism of our functions team was outstanding.

The proceeds of the day, which was a record amount, were all donated to Biyani House, a local shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence. I was lucky enough to be seated next to my beautiful wife Jacqueline and some long-time friends. I would encourage anyone wishing to attend next year’s event to get in early.

The NRL Las Vegas launch in Rogues was just as exciting. With great themed food, I was very fortunate to watch my Bulldogs scrape home in the main match. The atmosphere was electric and sometimes almost deafening. A great way to watch the footy. In saying that, the atmosphere will be just as exciting for the upcoming State of Origin matches. Get your friends together and get along to Rogues for some exciting games and hopefully a NSW series victory.

The free bands on Friday nights are continuing to draw the crowds. If you like to relive the 80’s and 90’s, make sure you come along to The President’s Lounge on a Friday night.

The Board of Directors

Some memorable performances I have been lucky to see recently include Jellybean Jam and The Selectors, who had the crowds dancing and singing along all night.

Over the past twelve months, the Club and all staff have been actively involved in raising awareness to our patrons and the wider community regarding Domestic and Family Violence. The Purple Shirts initiative, which Revesby was one of the first Clubs to implement, where we say NO to Domestic and Family Violence, and YES to Respectful Relationships has been expanded with purple coloured bench seats at the front and rear entrances. As a retired Police Sergeant, I know only too well the damages that domestic violence of any type, can cause to victims, families, friends and the impact and cost it has to the community and the first responders. I would encourage anyone who thinks they may need some assistance, to be strong and reach out to the services that are available, or chat with any of our staff.

On a different note, our Cricket Club finished their season at the end of March, with unfortunately no Premierships, but some very close losses in the finals. It was exciting to watch the 5th grade almost pull off an amazing chase to go down by a couple of runs.

The Men’s Golf Club started the season with record numbers; however recent games have seen a slight decline. The club is extremely professional and well run, a great way to get involved in the game. If you would like a game and make some great new friends, get in touch. Just make sure you don’t hit any of them with your golf ball like I did!!

GIVING TO GAIN: A COMMUNITY UNITED FOR IWD 2026

Since launching in 2021, the Revesby Workers’ International Women’s Day (IWD) event has grown into one of the Club’s most anticipated annual celebrations—an empowering tradition that continues to evolve in scale and significance.

Guided by the 2026 themes of “Give to Gain” and “Balance the Scales,” the March 6 IWD event brought together community members, leaders, and advocates with a shared purpose: to champion gender equality, spotlight women’s achievements, and raise critical funds for Biyani House – Revesby’s Women’s Shelter.

The event welcomed inspiring voices on the main stage, each bringing a powerful message of resilience, leadership and community spirit. Natalie Cooney, widely recognised for her advocacy and influence across business and community sectors, spoke to the strength found in collective generosity. She emphasised that giving across communities delivers more than tangible outcomes—it sparks possibility, strengthens unity and lays the groundwork for lasting change. Equally compelling was Molly Croft, a young leader whose deeply personal story of resilience resonated with the audience. Molly reflected on her Metastatic Osteoblastic Osteosarcoma journey, noting that her illness has never defined her; instead, her

strength has been shaped by the women who stand beside her and support her.

Adding even more star power and insight to the event was a special panel discussion featuring two iconic sporting figures.

Tarsha Gale, a trailblazer in women’s rugby league whose legacy continues to pave the way for the next generation of female athletes, joined Tom Sermanni, an internationally respected football coach of the Matildas and long standing advocate for the advancement of women’s sport.

Together, they offered candid perspectives on gender equity in sport, the importance of representation, and the progress still needed to level the playing field—both literally and figuratively.

In a testament to the generosity and spirit of the local community, this year’s IWD event raised over $66,792.95— the largest amount ever raised since the Revesby Workers’ IWD tradition began. A significant portion of the fundraising success came from the live auction, which was supported with a range of exceptional donations. Contributions from DSA, Canterbury Leagues Club, the Parramatta Eels, the Sydney Roosters, the Matildas, Leagues Club Australia and Nora O Art helped drive bidding to new heights.

The fundraising effort is vital because Biyani House plays an increasingly critical role in supporting women and children escaping domestic and family violence in the Canterbury

Bankstown region—one of the highest need areas in NSW. Since opening, Biyani House delivered life changing support, providing over 150 women and children with safety and stability, and delivering 7862 nights of care and protection to families in crisis. Demand continues to grow sharply across the Women’s Community Shelters network, with requests for assistance rising by 20% in the past year, and one in two women seeking crisis accommodation still turned away due to a lack of available beds.

Leagues Club Australia continues to play a central role as the event’s official partner, reinforcing the strength and unity of the club industry’s commitment to International Women’s Day each year. The Revesby Workers’ IWD event has grown into a significant annual initiative, drawing participation from clubs across NSW, industry bodies such as ClubsNSW, and a wide network of industry suppliers. Their collective presence reflects a shared dedication to champion gender equality and meaningful change.

STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY FUTURES: YOUTH JUSTICE PROGRAM IMPACT

As part of the Club’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the Canterbury Bankstown community, Revesby Workers’ also proudly supports the Youth Off The Streets Youth Justice Program—an early intervention initiative helping young people experiencing vulnerability, disengagement or involvement with the justice system.

The program operates across the Canterbury Bankstown LGA, delivering regular engagement activities that connect young people with qualified Youth Workers and Case Workers. Through these touchpoints, participants can access tailored support, referrals, and case management—ensuring every young person who reaches out is met with guidance, opportunity, and a trusted network of care.

Through a $40,000 contribution from the Club via the ClubGRANTS program, Youth Off The Streets delivered a wide range of high impact services and youth focused activities throughout 2025.

This included seven weekly community engagement events every Thursday evening at Paul Keating Park, drawing an average of 73 young people each week and demonstrating both strong participation and the ongoing need for accessible outreach.

Over the year, 124 young people were referred for individualised case support, ensuring they received the sustained intervention and pathways required for their

personal development and wellbeing. Youth Off The Streets also delivered major youth focused events, such as the Bankstown End of Year Party, creating safe, positive and inclusive spaces for young people to connect.

All of this was supported by a multidisciplinary team of Youth Workers, Case Workers, a Senior Youth Worker and a Team Leader, ensuring comprehensive, wraparound support for every young person who engaged with the program.

SUPPORTING ZONTA SYDNEY WEST’S ‘YOUNG MEN STANDING STRONG AGAINST GENDER BASED VIOLENCE AWARD’

Revesby Workers’ has long held an impactful partnership with Zonta Sydney West, and this year the Club deepened that commitment with a $3,000 contribution to support Zonta’s Young Men Standing Strong Against Gender Based Violence Award program.

On 6 March, Club President Christine Butters and Vice President Christine Benham attended the Zonta Sydney West IWD event to celebrate the program’s ongoing impact and the recognition of another exceptional young man from our local community.

The Young Men Standing Strong Against Gender Based Violence Award is presented each year to students nominated by their schools for demonstrating outstanding leadership in promoting respect and equality.

Nominees are young men who actively support gender equity, consistently reject bullying and violence, and show genuine respect for others, regardless of differences. They are recognised for being active—not passive—bystanders, calling out inappropriate behaviour when they see it, particularly in relation to the treatment of women.

Congratulations to all 12 remarkable young men nominated by their schools.

PULL UP A CHAIR: THE REVESBY MEN’S TABLE MOVEMENT

In a world where men are often encouraged to “tough it out” and keep their feelings to themselves, the Revesby Men’s Table is offering a much needed alternative. Launched in February, this local initiative led by local community members, provides a safe, welcoming and supportive space for men to connect, talk openly and build genuine friendships.

While each meeting does involve sharing a meal at Revesby Greens, the Men’s Table is about far more than food. It’s about creating community. It’s a place where men can speak honestly about life’s challenges and successes— conversations many say they rarely have anywhere else. As one member put it: “It’s a great opportunity to get together with a bunch of blokes and talk about stuff you wouldn’t normally talk about.”

The Revesby Men’s Table is open to men of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you’re dealing with a specific challenge or simply want to connect with others in the community, you’ll find a warm and inclusive group ready to welcome you.

If you’re interested in joining the Revesby Men’s Table, the first step is attending an Entree, which is an easy, relaxed introduction session. You can join an online Entree any

STEPPING ONTO THE GREEN: STORIES FROM REVESBY WORKERS' BOWLING CLUB

Revesby Workers’ Club proudly supports a wide variety of sub clubs that bring our community together and encourage members to stay active and engaged. From sports to social groups, each sub club adds its own character to the vibrant Revesby Workers’ community.

Ross Gage, a member from The Revesby Workers' Bowling Sub Club shares his personal journey into the world of lawn bowls — a story sparked abroad and brought to life just metres from home.

Whilst on a tour of the United Kingdom I met Revesby Workers' bowling club member

Rob Shaw. After many dinners and a few pints together, he talked me into having a go at lawn bowls at Revesby Greens as I only lived 700 metres away from the club.

I had previously played sports mainly touch football, Oz Tag and tennis for many years. Sadly, I succumbed to a few sports injuries that stopped me from continuing to play these sports.

I decided to give lawn bowls a go and I’m very glad that I made that decision. From the very first day the Bowls Committee and bowls members were very friendly and welcoming. Even 12 months later the more experienced bowlers still give me advice on how to continue to improve my game.

The game is relatively simple; it just needs a judgement of line and length to the jack. That is where the simplicity finishes as getting the two skills combined at the same time is the challenge. It’s definitely harder than what it looks.

My previous sport experience gave me the ability to judge speed and distance. This has proven an advantage with lawn bowls.

I really enjoy the social games played on a Wednesday and Saturday which are played in good spirit. The more formal Club Championships are serious and help me to continue to improve

my game. I have already won the Men’s Pairs Championship as a team player.

If Revesby Workers' members are after a sport that is both challenging and not too hard on the body plus played in a friendly atmosphere, why not give bowls a go!

SUPPORTING MENTAL FITNESS AT MILPERRA PUBLIC SCHOOL: REVESBY WORKERS’ INVESTS IN GOTCHA4LIFE

Revesby Workers’ Club is proud to support the wellbeing of young people, with an $18,000 ClubGRANTS contribution to Gotcha4Life Mentally Fit Schools (MFS) Program at Milperra Public School this year.

The Gotcha4Life MFS Program is a whole of school preventative mental health initiative designed to build life long mental fitness in students, teachers and families. Delivered by experienced Mental Fitness Educators, the program equips school communities with practical strategies that improve emotional adaptability, strengthen social connection and normalise help seeking behaviours.

To launch the program at Milperra Public School, facilitator Cal Blyth met with the entire teaching staff for an inspiring professional learning session. His workshop introduced the foundations of mental fitness, provided practical tools for classroom use, and established a shared approach to supporting students’ emotional wellbeing. The session ensured educators felt energised and confident heading into the school year, ready to embed the program’s principles in every grade.

Throughout the year, the school will benefit from a tailored Mental Fitness Action Plan, ongoing coaching for teachers, dedicated student programs that build resilience and emotional awareness, and parent workshops designed to strengthen a shared wellbeing language between home and school.

Unlike one off wellbeing sessions, the Gotcha4Life model provides consistent support over time, building a mentally fit culture that remains long after the facilitator steps back.

Funding from Revesby Workers’ ensures Milperra Public School can access the program at no cost, removing financial barriers and ensuring every student benefits equally.

Every dollar invested stays within the local community, helping build a safer, more connected and mentally fit future for local families.

MAYORS 24HRS FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Revesby Workers’ Club proudly participated in the Mayor’s 24 Hour Challenge for Mental Health, joining community members, leaders and local organisations in a powerful show of support for young people’s mental wellbeing.

Held from 16–17 April at The Crest Athletics Track, Bass Hill, the event brought the Canterbury Bankstown community together for 24 hours of continuous movement—symbolising strength, resilience and the importance of staying connected during mental health challenges.

This year, Revesby Workers’ efforts resulted in an outstanding fundraising total of over $11,000, enough to fully fund one additional Charlotte’s Wish Scholarship for a young person in the local area.

The Mayor’s 24 Hour Challenge was created in response to a growing mental health crisis affecting young Australians. With 75% of mental health conditions developing before age 25, and nearly half of young people reporting high psychological distress, early support has never been more important.

Funds raised through the challenge directly support Charlotte’s Wish Scholarships, delivered through the Step into Action Foundation.

These scholarships provide local young people with tailored mentorship from trained professionals, ongoing emotional and wellbeing support, and access to mental health tools that help build confidence and resilience. Recipients also take part in structured personal development, keeping them connected, engaged and hopeful about their future. In addition, the scholarship offers opportunities to strengthen social skills, motivation and future pathways, giving young people the support they need to thrive.

This initiative holds deep meaning for Revesby Workers’ and the wider community, as Charlotte O’Brien, whose family is local to the area, tragically passed away due to the impacts of bullying. Her legacy now lives on through Charlotte’s Wish Scholarships, offering young people the support, connection

and care she should have received. By funding an additional scholarship, our Club is helping ensure that no child in our community feels alone or unsupported during their most vulnerable moments because “Everyone matters every day.”

PURPLE FRIDAY: A YEAR OF PROGRESS

May marks 12 months since Revesby Workers’ Club launched the Purple Friday initiative, a bold commitment to our staff, members and community to raise awareness of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) and strengthen support for those impacted. What began as a visible symbol of solidarity has evolved into a whole of organisation movement for education, prevention and genuine cultural change.

Inspired by the actions of Cherry Street Sports Club in Ballina, Chief People Officer Sharyn Buhagiar, championed this initiative with a shared belief in creating a workplace—and a community—where safety, respect and support are not merely encouraged but absolutely non negotiable.

Together, they brought to life a comprehensive approach grounded in the Club’s Domestic, Family & Sexual Violence Action Plan, a framework that formalised our commitments, actions and long term objectives.

Over the past year, more than 250 staff members have completed formal DFSV awareness training. This equips every team member with the ability to recognise warning signs, provide appropriate support and adopt a culture that does not tolerate violence in any form.

Purple Friday is also a Club wide visual statement. Each Friday, staff proudly wear their purple shirts—symbolising strength, courage and dignity—to show solidarity with survivors and spark meaningful conversations about respectful relationships.

To extend the visibility of the initiative beyond staff, the Club installed Purple Benches at both the Tarro Avenue and Brett Street entrances. These benches serve as permanent reminders of our stance against domestic and family violence, encouraging reflection, awareness and community connection.

They represent more than a symbol—they reinforce that Revesby Workers’ is a safe place to seek help and an active ally in ending violence.

Purple Friday is deeply connected to our longstanding relationship with Biyani House – Revesby Women’s Shelter, the only crisis refuge for women and children in the Canterbury Bankstown LGA. With domestic violence reports rising 17.1% in our LGA and 45% of homelessness cases linked to DFV, the need for support has never been greater. Through strong partnerships and continued advocacy, the Club is contributing to life changing services, including the shelter’s recent major redevelopment that will enable them to support even more families in crisis.

In November 2025, during the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, the Club was featured across the Nine Network as part of a national TV documentary called Helping Hands. The segment highlighted Purple Friday and showcased how the initiative is driving cultural awareness, reducing stigma and promoting respectful relationships within both the workplace and the broader community.

Twelve months later, Purple Friday stands as a powerful reflection of who we are as an organisation. Every staff member—from the front desk to senior leadership—has embraced the initiative with sincerity and pride. Together, we have created an environment where education, empathy and support are embedded in daily practice.

The Club’s message remains clear and unwavering:

Let’s continue making a difference—together.

CELEBRATING 102 YEARS YOUNG!

One of the Clubs members, Lillian (Peggy) Doris Robertson, recently celebrated an incredible milestone—her 102nd birthday. Peggy has been a cherished member of the Club for many years, and her bingo friends made the occasion extra special by organising a surprise celebration in her honour. Surrounded by laughter, warmth, and friendship, it was a wonderful way to recognise such a remarkable life and loyal membership. Peggy was also joined in celebration by her daughters, Cathy Peadon and Valerie Hadgelias.

Our recent “Summer Vibes” Staff Party was a wonderful opportunity to come together and recognise the outstanding effort and dedication shown by our team throughout the season. Set against a relaxed and vibrant backdrop, the evening featured interactive games, great music and plenty of laughter — a true reflection of the positive culture and strong sense of connection that defines our Club.

Beyond the fun, the night carried a meaningful purpose. Staff generously rallied behind two important causes — Biyani House, our local women’s shelter, and the local RSPCA — demonstrating once again the generosity and community spirit of our team. Thanks to the collective enthusiasm on the night, an impressive $1,720 was raised for these worthy organisations.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, participated and contributed — your support not only made the night a success, but beautifully reflected our Club’s values of teamwork, connection and community, and our shared commitment to supporting those around us.

C L U B W I D E S TA F F M E E T I N G

Our Club Wide Staff Meeting, held in March across two sessions, brought together more than 160 team members for an important opportunity to connect, share key updates and reinforce our commitment to safe, compliant and responsible operations across the Club.

A strong focus was placed on compliance and staff training, with refresher sessions covering Domestic and Family Violence awareness, Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing, and a Fire and Evacuation Drill. These sessions ensured staff remain informed, confident and well equipped to carry out their responsibilities and support a safe environment for colleagues, members and visitors alike.

The meetings also provided an opportunity to recognise and celebrate engagement and achievements across the Club. Staff were thanked for their continued support of Purple Fridays, which will proudly reach its one year milestone in May — an initiative that continues to reinforce our commitment to awareness, inclusion and respectful workplaces. Adding to the positive atmosphere, a series of lucky door prizes brought plenty of excitement, and we proudly congratulated the 14 recipients of the 2026 Staff Scholarship Program. These scholarships recognise team members who have demonstrated a strong commitment to their professional development and their future with the Club.

WO R L D ’ S G R E AT E S T S H AV E –S TA F F F U N D R A I S E R

A powerful and heartfelt moment unfolded during our Club Wide Staff Meeting as four dedicated team members — Katrina Ryan, Max Blades, Sean Foster and Dylan Horsnell — proudly took part in the World’s Greatest Shave, raising vital funds and awareness for cancer research. Their willingness to participate was met with overwhelming encouragement from colleagues, creating a truly meaningful highlight of the day.

Setting an initial fundraising target of $5,000, the team has already surpassed expectations, raising an impressive $6,189 to date. This outstanding result has been made possible through the generosity of friends, family, fellow staff members and the continued support of Revesby Workers’ Club.

Their efforts are a powerful reflection of the compassion, generosity and community spirit that underpin our organisation. A sincere thank you to everyone who supported, donated and helped make this fundraising effort such a remarkable success.

Why step into the sauna after your workout?

Your workout doesn’t end when the weights go down — recovery is where the magic happens! A hot stone sauna isn’t just a place to relax; it’s a powerful post training ritual that helps your body reset, restore and recharge.

The deep, radiant heat boosts circulation to hardworking muscles, helping ease tension, reduce stiffness and support faster recovery. As your body relaxes, your nervous system does too, making it easier to unwind after training and setting you up for better sleep later that night.

With regular use, sauna sessions can also improve flexibility, support cardiovascular health and encourage a deep, cleansing sweat — leaving you feeling lighter, looser and mentally refreshed.

Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Sauna Session

• Step in after your workout, not before

• Shower before and after your session

• Start with 10–15 minutes and listen to your body

• Slow your breathing and let your muscles relax

• Rehydrate well before and after

• Cool down gradually before heading out

Our Sauna Experience

We offer a traditional Finnish style sauna, where heated stones create dry, penetrating heat that warms your body from the outside in — perfect for the cooler weather that’s arrived.

Sauna access is included in all gym membership types, with casual visits also available for non-members. With dedicated male and female saunas, there’s no better way to train hard, recover smart and relax deeply.

A modern facility with family friendly indoor and outdoor dining space, comfortable lounge, fully equipped bar and outdoor sporting facilities providing the essential space to meet the needs of our local community.

BOWLS – LAWN

Liaison Director: David Raper

Our bowling year continues to run smoothly. What has been happening?

In the Mixed Pairs final, Elizabeth Griffin and Jan Stistaka defeated Gail McQuiggin and Robert McFarland in a well-contested game. Congratulations Elizabeth and Jan.

A correction needs to be made in the Ladies Pairs. In fact, Fay Shean and Clare Chown defeated Sue Semlitzky and Elizabeth Griffin. I had it the other way around in the last journal report. Forgive me!! We wish them well as they represent us in the Champion of Champions Competition.

In the Men’s Pairs final Peter Shean and Dave Raper defeated Steve Schomberg and Ray Fitzpatrick. It was an exciting and closely contested final. The four-time winners will now represent our club in the Champion of Champion competition.

The Mid-week Triples Final was played in good spirit but in the end Lyn Gallant, Jan Pennell and Brian Barrett were defeated by Denis Gallant, Steve Schomberg and Ray Fitzpatrick. Well-played gents !

A big congratulations to our ladies and men’s singles winners who performed in the Champion of Champions competition recently. Dave Raper competed at Mount Lewis and, despite winning one of his games on Day 1 failed to proceed to the next round. Claire Chown played amazingly but also failed to go on to the next round. We are so proud of your efforts. Well-done Clare and Dave!

Mid-Week Consistency is currently being played. Peter Shean and Peter Chown are through to the semi-finals. They will be joined by either Sue Semlitzky playing Bob Byrne or Amir Kitani playing Moufid

Atme who are playing in the third round this week.

In the Regional Open Pennants, our Grade 5 team is doing well at this stage of the competition and our Grade 7 team has put in some good performances but it doesn’t look as if they can win their section at this stage.

Events still to be played include Club Open Consistency and Club Mixed Fours as well as the Club Open Fours. The midweek 5 years and under challenge will also be competed. We look forward to good performances from all players.

The annual melanoma charity day will be held in May. This is always a well-supported event supporting this important charity. Bowlers from many other clubs join us for the day.

We wish Peter Shean and Peter Chown all the best as they travel to Dubbo to represent the region in the State Men’s Pairs in June. I’m sure, Peter and Peter, that you will represent our region and our club in style. I hear there may be a road trip for supporters.

We look forward to the President’s day - the first since amalgamation. This will be an opportunity for good bowls, social connection and an acknowledgement of the work of our President, Geoff Went, and those who work behind the scenes on committees. Your time and efforts are greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in joining our club you would be most welcome. Coaching can be arranged for inexperienced bowlers. You would have an opportunity to bowl on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday mornings and Saturday afternoons. For further information please contact our President Geoff Went (0407 204 139) or Vice President Dianne Oliver (0412 738 320).

See you on the green!

Liaison Director: Trevor Heaslip

Another season done and dusted! It was disappointing that we fielded no junior sides again this season, but this reflected the overall decline in numbers in the district. We did have several children participate in the Blasters program for littlies!

We had 4 senior teams this season, up from 3 last season. The new team approached RWCC after the combined

Associations had planned their draws and were slotted into 3rd Grade where there was room. The team, led by Riaz and Munawar, did not have much success, but turned up each week, played in the right spirit and we look forward to their return next season.

We ended up with two sides in 3rd Grade, the other one moved up from 4th Grade last season. Imran, Ben and the team had a fantastic season and were well on their way to play in their Grand Final. Unfortunately, a member of their opposition in the Preliminary Final displayed shocking behaviour when given out by the Official Umpires and his arguments meant play was held up for quite some time. In the end our team was denied a lot of batting time and was denied victory as it came down to batting averages. A very unfair and disappointing outcome.

Our victorious 3rd Grade side from last season was moved up to 2nd Grade. They were coasting along in their Semi-final, but were the victim of bad weather and the match was drawn, but as the opposition finished ahead on the ladder, that was the end of our team’s season.

The other team was last year’s 5th Grade side, which remained in 5th Grade this season. They ended up being minor premiers. Our side played brilliantly, winning their semi- final and proceeded to the Grand Final, but unfortunately went down by 8 runs. Great effort, team. The after match celebrations at Firestone Outdoors was a great team bonding event. Observers would not have any idea that the team had not been victorious!

The 2026 Masters Cup (Over 35s Super 8s) is due to run from May until the end August and promises to be loads of fun, as usual. Hopefully, our team will again be competitive and maybe bring home the shield like they have done over the last two seasons.

We look forward to holding our Presentations during winter and will start signing on for the next summer comp. from 1 July on-line – just visit the “Play Cricket “ site and enter your postcode –Revesby Workers Cricket Club will be one of your options, which I hope you will choose!

Our first meeting for 2026 last February was an opportune time to get back into the swing of things. Our first monthly

guest speaker, Maureen Carter, author of ‘Ten Pounds of Paradise’, provided snippets of her life here as a ‘Ten Pound Pom’.

In March, the RWC held its annual International Woman’s Day. We showed our support through club members who attended.

We also celebrated our annual Friendship Day in our March meeting with Paul Sheaffe, a member of both the Garden Club of Australia and the Caringbah Garden Club.

During this meeting Roslyne Ashley was awarded the GCA Ann Williams Clark Medallion for her valuable contribution to our Garden Club since she joined in 2013. She is now in charge of the Plant Sales Table which generates valuable funds for our club.

Ann McLachlan was our guest speaker for April where she introduced us to the wonderful and varied world of bonsai.

Our May guest speaker will be Amrutha Murali, a travel agent of GTG Getaway Co., who will provide details of the July Singapore Garden Festival.

In June we welcome Richard Herring of Bunnings who will cover roses.

Our July guest speaker will be David Delap whose talk will be about young Winston Churchill.

Last year’s photo competition was such a success that we will have another one this year. Closing date is 17th July and is open to all club members. Small prizes will be on offer.

We will also continue our biannual coach tours which are open to members and any interested parties. This May is our autumn tour. We will be visiting ‘Orchids Out West’ at the Hawkesbury Showground. Lunch will be at the Windsor RSL Club, after which we will visit Mother Earth Nursery.

This year promises to be packed with similar interesting activities. Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month except for December (Christmas luncheon) and January at the RWC. Registration starts at 9:30 am for a 10 am start with a guest speaker. Morning tea follows before regular club business. We have raffles, flower/plant competitions and a plant/cutting/seed sales table. Meetings end at 12 noon.

Revesby Workers' Netball Club has been a proud sub-club of the Revesby Workers’ Club since 1964. We strive to promote the game of netball in our community and encourage everyone, regardless of ability, to participate and experience the joy that sport brings.

After what felt like a long off-season, it was with great eagerness and enthusiasm that we finally headed back to Netball with the start of the 2026 season. We are excited to welcome back our returning members and all our new players and families.

This year, we have registered 22 teams ranging from our 5 & 6 year old academy players right up to Div 1 in seniors. We also have a dedicated team of umpires who give their time and skills each week, not only to umpire our games, but to also utilise their expertise to train our young umpires.

All teams kicked off with some dedicated training with lots of teams showing off the new RWNC training shirts.

The season started a little later this year on the 18th of April at Deverell Park and will run through until September. It has been a great start to the season, and we have loved watching our players come together as teams and seeing their hard work but more importantly their love for

The annual March Pass to start the season saw all our teams come together to represent Revesby Workers' Netball Club and was fabulous to watch. Also, we thank all our players who participated in the ANZAC Day march and joined Club Directors and other Sub Club members to pay our respects to the men and women who sacrificed so much. Lest We Forget.

Our 2026 Executive and Committee were elected at our Annual General Meeting, and we are grateful for their commitment to our club.
