one of the best on the high street The many telephone features available include: Last Number Re-Dial. The phone remembers the last number dialled and with the press of a button. will automatically re-dial it. Memories. The numbers you use most often can be stored in the phone's memort and dialled by pressing only one or two buttons. Mute Button allows you to put the phone call "on hold" • useful if you need to talkto someone without the caller overhearing. On Hook Dialling. You can dialwithout picking up the receiver. You can hearwhenyourcall is answered and you then pick up the handset to speak. Hands Free Speech· usually combined with on-hook dialling, by pressing a button you can listen and speak with the receiver in place.

BT Star/Networt Selvices · British Telecom are currently installing digital exchanges and these will soon be available for rental in most

of the counll'f. Facilities available include call aJVersion, code calling, repeat last call, call waiting, call barring, reminder call and three-way calling. In order to access these new services, your phone will need to be multi·frequency or Touch Tone• compatible. Ring equivalent number (REN) determines the number of telephones you can connect to a line. The maximum total REN for a BT line is 4. Mercury· ~ is now possible to make calls via the "Mercury" network by dialling into the network and entering a personal code. Some telephoneS now feature a blue "Mercurt" button which allows one touch dialling into the system. Other "Mercurt" compatible telephones enable programming of the sequence into a normal memort. Cordless Phones· give the user the freedom to talk on the phone away from the base unit, by use of a portable rechargeable handse~ within environmental and range limitation. Answering Machines. These machines will answer your phone if you cannot answer~ yourself. You need a new style BT phone socket and a nearby 13 amp mains socket.
