Thank you Doreen, Joan and Brian

RETIRED TEACHERS’

ASSOCIATION OF MANITOBA

DOREEN, JOAN, BRIAN

It is always an honor to celebrate the great work of great people. Today we are recognizing three great members who have announced that they are going to retire from the RTAM Board and pass the torch on to other great retired teachers. These three people have a wealth of experience and service with MTS and RTAM. The remaining RTAM board members will really miss their dedication to RTAM and their many years of service. RTAM is losing a total of over 55 years of service, service dedicated to the betterment of all Manitoba’s retired teachers as well as all active teachers.

Doreen Sage of Neepawa fame (NARTA Chapter), Joan Dawson of Thompson fame (TARE Chapter), and Brian Paterson of Brandon fame (WREA Chapter), are stepping down. All three served lengthy careers in various schools across Manitoba. Many of their students became teachers and successful people because of their mentoring.

Doreen Sage served on many committees over the years and will be long remembered for her contributions as Editor of KIT magazine since 2000. It was through her hard work and perseverance that the KIT magazine was published on time and always free of any grammar and punctuation errors. She is loved by her colleagues within RTAM and will be deeply missed. Happy second retirement, Doreen.

Joan Dawson has always been active throughout her teaching career. After retiring, she was active in the Thompson Association of Retired Educators as well, contributing big time by serving on the RTAM Board in over seven different capacities, including President. She always had the best interests of RTAM members at heart and has earned a well- deserved second retirement. Have fun fishing and enjoying more free time at Paint Lake!

Brian Paterson served very well as Chair of the Benefits committee. It is largely thanks to Brian’s efforts that Trip Merchant was engaged to act as RTAM’s travel broker. Brian loved MTS and worked to restore better relationships with our sister organization, MTS. Brian will always be remembered for his quiet demeanor and friendliness within our organization. We wish him the best of health and a long second retirement.

The RTAM Board and fellow retired teachers wish Doreen, Joan, and Brian the best of health and many years of relaxation.

Ken Malcolm,

with the support of the Public Relations Committee
