September is the time when students start a fresh new school year full of activities and projects with which they are passionate. This is the perfect time to sponsor a student for a Student Success Portfolio. Students in Grades 9 -12 can start their collection of memories of all the exciting adventures and opportunities they will be having during their high school journey.

Last year a change was made to the requirements of participating in this program. Instead of only being able to sponsor a family member, now RTAM members can sponsor a family friend or acquaintance to support in creating this lifetime memory portfolio of their high school years.

Four simple steps to get started supporting your students

1. Contact your Grade 9 - 12 student(s) whom you would like to support with the development of their Student Success Portfolio.

For more information about Ungar’s work, you can check his You Tube videos where he describes in more detail his Resilience Resources. Sue Lantz will host an RTAM Wellness Zoom presentation on October 3 to further develop our understanding of the Five Strategy Framework she presented at our AGM.

Sue Lantz’s Five Strategy Framework and Michael Ungar’s Dozen Resilience Resources mutually interweave to assist us in mapping our best future ever. Let’s benefit from the wisdom gained by these two Canadian researchers as they share their insights with us.

2. Briefly describe the “Student Success Portfolio Project” to the student.

3. Complete and submit the application form found on our website.

4. Once your student has received their portfolio folder, you can start your conversations encouraging them to save any reminders, triggers, certificates, etc. in their portfolio in preparation for completing many different scholarships and award applications during their graduation year. They can win $1000 from our RTAM Student Award and funds from other scholarship sponsors to help offset the many costs of their post-secondary education.
