Dear Retailing Insight Reader,

What incredible challenges our local and international communities are facing these days! Regardless of what link in the retail chain you occupy, you’re likely sharing the same experiences – our makers, producers, entrepreneurs, and consumers – ordinary people like you and me are in a place that seemed unimaginable just a few months ago. Like so many businesses, our operations were closed down temporarily, delaying the publication of this issue.

No doubt these unique times require extraordinary efforts, an enormous dose of courage, empathy, positive thinking, and visionary leadership to finding ways to keep business operating even if physical stores are temporarily closed. Maybe your region is still under quarantine and customers are not allow to walk in to stores and you don’t know when things will be back to normal. Even so, it’s important to keep in mind that your customers are still shopping . . . somewhere online!

There’s little question that having an online presence today is a necessity. But adding services like a curated product selections, mix-and-match product ideas and DIY kits to sell; email marketing with promotions and instant savings and other ways to let your customers know you’re still ready to provide the great service is so important. Those solution are not only clever ways to engage, but they’re also proven to be effective in boosting sales. I hope this issue can provide you great insights to help you and your business these days. I also hope our articles lift your spirits and that you can find the balance and peace so needed right now.

We will get through this together. And here at Retailing Insight, we’re looking forward with optimism.
