In case you hadn’t heard, we are now including the standard $1 per line credit regulatory recovery fee in the customer-facing prices for all Ultra Flex Family and Ultra Flex plans.

We received great market feedback from our Ultra Retailers and decided that we could make the Ultra Flex even more “fast, fun and easy” with this simpler pricing structure.

For Retailers like you, this means all previously furnished POP displays will show updated pricing, going from “$46/mo” to “$50/ mo” for Ultra Flex Family and from “$11.50/mo” to “$12.50/mo” for Ultra Flex.

We feel this update will result in fewer questions at checkout and more satisfied customers across the board.

Stay in Front of Changes that Will Affect Your Customers this Summer and Beyond!

Network Upgrade Overview Ultra’s Activate Newsletter is not just about giving you more information about Ultra—it’s about bringing news that makes you a better-informed business person! In this issue, we felt it important to highlight some of the big upgrades and improvements taking place on the T-Mobile network.

T-Mobile has spent literally billions of dollars over the last several years growing its coverage footprint and investing in new technologies to improve indoor calling and coverage in congested areas. Investments in 4G LTE, 600MHz spectrum and Band 12 are all designed to provide the best possible user experience both now and into the future.

But just as paved roads improved over dirt roads, you really needed a car, not a horse and carriage, to experience the real difference. As more “roads become paved,” T-Mobile is forced to turn down or eliminate older, legacy spectrums and technologies. This includes bandwidth designed to serve 2G and 3G devices, which don’t maximize benefit of

these investments and may stop working altogether! Cities in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Texas and other states have already experienced this change in spectrum, with major markets like New York City and New Jersey scheduled for mid-July.

The investment is great for the vast majority of your customers, but the changes could negatively affect customers with older “legacy” devices. At present, this represents about 3% of the total Ultra subscriber base. Keep in mind, these changes, which will begin this Summer and roll out over the course of the next year, will not only affect Ultra subscribers but all T-Mobile MVNO’s including Lycamobile, Simple Mobile and others.

Device Quality Matters It’s important you help your customers upgrade to new phones and devices. We know there are many ways to get phones: through master agents, distributors, retailers and even direct from Ultra! We are committed to working with you to help communicate these changes (by messaging you and subscribers) and turning this into an opportunity for you to sell more devices.

Which Devices Are Negatively Affected?

Affected devices include (but are not limited to) the following models. Be sure to help your customers get on the right devices before spectrum changes impact their service!

How Will it Affect My Customers?

Overall, this is a major upgrade that will improve data speeds and voice quality for the majority of customers who enjoy 4G LTE through Ultra Mobile. The new spectrum will let our signal reach much farther and penetrate buildings more easily, which is great news for customers in more remote locations and those who rely on Ultra Mobile in office or apartment buildings. For most Ultra Mobile customers, it will simply mean an even better wireless experience.

However, for a very small portion of our customers with older device technology (approximately 3% of our base), it will mean data speeds capping out at 2G and, in some cases, dropped calls. This is true for all such customers who use a T-Mobile-affiliated MVNO after the spectrum upgrades, whether it’s Ultra Mobile or not.

What Can I Do Now? Once again, the majority of Ultra Mobile customers will see an upgrade in service.

Very few customers will be negatively impacted—and possibly none at all in your market—but we have already begun sending text messages to customers and Retailers in affected markets to keep them aware of what’s going on. We are encouraging affected customers to visit their Ultra Retailers to purchase a device upgrade and continue their service with Ultra Mobile.

However, if any of your customers in your market have heard from us, they may visit you to ask questions about device compatibility. You can help by directing them to newer devices in your stock that will give them full access to T-Mobile’s improved network.

WHAT IS THE MAIN ROLE OF AN ULTRA MOBILE REGIONAL MANAGER?

WHAT DOES THE FIELD TEAM’S MOTTO “MAKING IT HAPPEN” MEAN TO YOU?

Guy LaPena: Our main role is making sure we as a field team are there to support our retailers in any way we can and that we as a field team are having conversations that get to the heart of what our Retailers need so we can use their feedback to help shape our offers and the company’s direction.

Kris Fevrier: To me, “Making it Happen” means accepting every challenge and utilizing the tools available to ensure the Retailer and customer have the best experience possible.

Keith Yeung: Stewarding our Retailers’ voice and success is our number one priority!

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE? IS THERE A TYPICAL DAY? Harout Gezalyn: No such thing—but that’s what makes the day fun! I’d say the one constant is the hospitality that our Retailers show our team during our visits with them. They are always willing to take time out of their busy schedules to provide us valuable insight and ideas.

Oscar Roman: The most gratifying part of our day is when we get to visit our partners at their retail stores—where the magic happens! We brainstorm on the potential we have to grow together with Ultra Mobile.

Ray Tuo: In order to be successful, “Making it Happen” is important. Leading by example is key—showing that being creative and thinking outside the box is important to getting things done for the Retailers. I use “Making It Happen” to instill that "going above and beyond" mentality in my team.

WHAT DEVICE(S) DO YOU RELY ON MOST IN THE COURSE OF A DAY AND WHY? Keith Yeung: I live off my Samsung Galaxy Note with Ultra service! I start my day with the haunting sound of my alarm clock, then listen to some tunes while drinking coffee, check my social media, make a few calls and texts, get from point A to B with the help of GPS, and end my day with some Netflix while checking my emails.

Oscar Roman: Do my dashing good looks count? Aside from that, my phone on Ultra service and laptop never leave my side.

I only have one phone and it’s on 24/7 ready to take your call.

ULTRA MOBILE MOVES FAST. HOW DO YOU HELP PEOPLE IN THE FIELD STAY IN FRONT OF INNOVATIONS, NEW PRODUCTS AND CHANGES? Harout Gezalyn: The industry is always evolving. Whether its new smartphones or upgrades to network technologies or new ways to connect with family and friends all over the world. In all honesty, my team and I have found the best resource to be our Retailers.

Guy LaPena: I feel like the people in the field are the ones who help me stay in front of innovations. Communication is the key and we do our best to keep our ear to the street and stay on top of things.

WHAT’S BEEN THE MOST SURPRISING THING ABOUT BEING AN RM? Ray Tuo: Most of the RMs I know from other companies work 12+ hours a day with no time for themselves or their families. To me, as an RM with Ultra Mobile, I have time to develop people, and I also get to develop myself. Always take the time out to improve your team, in return, you improve yourself and your sales and your organization.

Kris Fevrier: The different cultures I get to experience when traveling throughout my region. We have great people all over and it’s always fascinating when you get a glimpse into their world.
