AS WE CONTINUE TO BE BOTH MORE CUSTOMER-CENTRIC AND RETAILER-CENTRIC, WE ARE PARTICULARLY PROUD OF THIS AUGUST REFRESH BECAUSE IT RESULTED FROM MONTHS OF LISTENING, LEARNING AND PLANNING WITH YOU! SO WITH THAT KNOWLEDGE, TWO OF OUR MOST SENIOR ULTRA LEADERS, TYLER LESHNEY, PRESIDENT OF ULTRA MOBILE, AND ERIN ANDERSON, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF INDIRECT SALES, JUMPED ON A SERIES OF PLANES, TRAINS, SUBWAYS, CABS, AND UBERS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE EAST COAST ROAD TRIP ON THE EVE OF THE REFRESH. WE WANTED TO USE THIS ISSUE TO SHARE SOME SNAPSHOTS OF THE TRIP AND SHARE MORE OF THE EXCITEMENT AND ENERGY WE GET FROM BEING IN YOUR STORES, GETTING BEHIND THE COUNTER AND LAUNCHING PLANS TO HELP MAKE YOUR BUSINESSES MORE SUCCESSFUL!

DAY 1

PHILADELPHIA After a long flight from the West Coast, we touched down in Philadelphia and met up with our superstar East Coast field team and Regional Managers. It was the day before the refresh went live, and we were bursting with anticipation.

But this day was all about strengthening one of the most important components of our service: communication! We wanted to share how much we have been listening and learning, so we walked right into your stores to get feedback directly from you and your customers!

And this time, we were able to respond immediately with a sneak preview of our August Refresh materials.

You could feel the excitement in the air when Tyler and

Erin shared the new, simplified Ultra lineup with more data and multi-month options—all of which addressed ongoing requests we’d been hearing from Retailers like you.

We truly felt the brotherly love from Retailers and locals alike—even if we did get a traffic ticket while out searching for the best Philly Cheesesteaks and crab fries the city had to offer.

DAY 2

NEW YORK CITY The next day, we awoke knowing the Ultra refresh was going live from coast to coast— all of our planning and preparations were building up to this moment!

We hopped a train from Philly to Brooklyn where we continued to address important Retailer concerns regarding the recent T-Mobile Network upgrades. We had many great conversations with helpful Retailers about the importance of getting the right devices into our customers’ hands and finding solutions for impacted customers. We were glad to hear lots of success stories.

What kept us going even more than the best steak and eggs we’ve ever had (thank you, Manhattan!) was the delight in revealing our new Retailer chatbot, an addition to UltraAgents.com Retailer Portal that will help improve the accessibility and quality of Retailer Support across the country (see In the News for more).

After a whirlwind of a day, we gathered with our Master Agents and other Ultras, raising our glasses to teamwork at a special refresh launch party. A visit to the Big Apple just wouldn’t be complete without a little celebration!

DAY 3

BOSTON The Ultra Road Trip rolled into Boston, another of our country’s historic cities filled with awesome Ultra Retailers! Today, was all about getting hands-on and going behind the counter, or—in the case of Tyler—going up the ladder to help hang window clings.

It was a fun day as we pitched in all over town to help merchandise stores with our beautiful new collateral. We also had the opportunity to personally walk Retailers through the new and improved plans, giving tips on how to target them in the community, as well as to get more feedback on the brand new refresh. One Retailer had a suggestion about improving a recently updated TSP interface and—a phone call from Erin later—it was implemented by the time we visited the next store!

Huge thanks for the Ultra teamwork and constructive feedback from all of you! It was

great seeing so many faces out in the stores where everything happens. And who says you can’t mix business with pleasure? We’ll remember this working trip for a long time to come.

It is very important to me to be able to communicate with my family and friends. I usually use apps to call home such as Facebook and Whatsapp.

WHAT FOOD DO YOU MISS THE MOST FROM HOME? I miss traditional ingredients from the Latino culture. American cuisine lacks typical flavors from home. My favorites are mole sauces.

WHAT EXPERIENCES FROM YOUR LIFE BACK HOME HELP YOU EVERY DAY HERE IN THE USA? I started to work at an early age and to this day I always listen to my mother’s advice: be responsible, honest and sincere.

I started working here right before Thanksgiving 2016, so I’ve been an Ultra for around 10 months.

My position here at Ultra has one goal: get it done! Whatever it is our company needs we’re here to get it done, quickly, thoughtfully and with utmost quality.

HOW IS ULTRA DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PLACES YOU’VE WORKED? Ultra has a wonderful team full of smart, talented and truly amazing individuals. Each person in every department works so hard to further the company and grow with their team members.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING AN ULTRA? I love working at a company that is incredibly user centric. Each product we release is focused on always improving our user experience.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT OR GOAL AT ULTRA? As things have recently changed, my biggest goal is to build out the team to be the most amazing product and initiative management team ever. I see this team as the biggest user advocate, I want us to really know who our users are and to build innovative products they will love.

HOW DO YOU MANAGE YOUR TEAM, PROGRAMS OR PROJECTS TO STAY ALIGNED WITH THE CHANGING RETAILER NEEDS? We ensure that each program or project we run always has our Retailers at the top of our mind. We have a central focus on educating the Retailers on our products, creating a great, easy user experience and making sure they are successful. We are now also running projects that focus on specific Retailer needs, such as making the Retailer Portal even easier to use.

WHAT WEBSITE DO YOU SPEND THE MOST TIME ON? Medium.com. I enjoy reading articles about how to become a better leader, better product manager and expanding my knowledge so I can make well-rounded decisions.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEAL? Oysters and wine.

WHAT IS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL? I had a hard time picking one, but I decided on a fox because they are smart and resourceful.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE ON MEETING BOTH THE COMPANY AND RETAILER NEEDS? The most challenging thing has been balancing how fast we can get a product to the market while making sure that we also provide enough education and support to our Retailers. Before we launch a product or a feature, we try to stop and think, “will the Retailer have enough information to be successful with this product or feature?”

THE FIRST DAY OF FALL IS SEPTEMBER 22, WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR THE FALL SEASON? I am really looking forward to still having more time to enjoy the beautiful Southern California beaches!
