Hotspots reign supreme these days, as Ronald Pita from Perth Amboy, NJ tells us. Our new plans with hotspot support turned out to be the most-requested feature that sold a lot of Ultra plans. Ronald notes that Ultra is the easiest carrier to activate, which is why he has an easy time making Ultra his #1 carrier. “We make sure to tell every customer that with this service they will have the best experience when calling loved ones overseas.” Thanks, Ronald!

s we look forward to a bright New Year, we thought you might like to know what our founder and telecom expert Ultra Mobile

CEO David Glickman’s got cooking in the kitchen! Here are a few exciting words on Ultra’s exciting journey from its grass roots to a bright future ahead from the founder himself!

Getting Started in Telecom Fresh out of college, I moved to Argentina to work for American Express and quickly discovered an anomaly that was curious to me—it was far cheaper for my family to call me than for me to call them! So, I developed a “call back” system that meant that regardless of who wanted to make the call, the phone connection would be initiated in the most cost-effective manner. I used this for myself until American Express discovered what I had built and realized they could access incredible cost savings the same way. This led me to launch Justice Technology and ignited my passion for understanding telecommunications which then led to my second company TelePacific, my third company Hometown Telecom, and now Ultra Mobile.

Launching Ultra Just prior to Ultra, the Ultra founders and I were running a calling card business and, as we got to know our customer base more deeply, we realized the value of keeping people with family and friends abroad connected in an affordable and accessible way. We knew that it should be easier though—like my time in Argentina, why was calling with a calling card so much cheaper than just dialing from my mobile? When we launched Ultra we didn’t just want to improve this experience by making international calling part of the plan. We wanted to do it at a much bigger scale. We wanted to serve the foreign born community who we truly believed were underserved. To this day, international calling has been our key differentiator— we handle nearly 1 billion minutes a year and we’re proud of what value this holds for our customers.

Building for the Long Term My dream for Ultra has always been to make communication more effortless and build strong relationships for people around the world. I also apply this to the future of Ultra by building strong, healthy professional relationships that will nurture the growth of the company because an operation like Ultra can’t work on its own! Thankfully, due to a network of incredible employees and quality partners chosen with that goal in mind, we are able to continue to invest in our portal, Retailer support line, collateral and marketing to help you be successful at selling Ultra with a supportive “family” that is fast, fun, and easy to work with.

Through our incredible partnerships, we now help customers connect to their loved ones whether they are in the US or around the world. That’s something we are so proud of and it’s thanks to all of you!

Looking Forward Ultra grew quickly out of the gate, and we have since focused on stability and building our team to scale, but now we’re heading into our next phase of hyper-growth. We have committed to our shareholders, employees, and now to you that we’re going to shoot for incredible new heights and make an even more Ultra mark in the industry in the next 5 years. That means that we’re going to invest in our brand, our product, our marketing and our partners to make Ultra as attractive to new users, and as sticky to our user base as possible. It’s going to be an exciting year for us, and we’re energized and ready to go.
