8 My Rowe Design Fall 2026
Sarah Brady, the founder and principal designer of Salt Design Company, established her firm in 2014 after pivoting from a background in finance and a deep-rooted connection to the world of construction. Inspired by her coastal New England upbringing, she is dedicated to crafting timeless interiors that reflect the beauty of layered, curated design. Specializing in bespoke spaces, Salt Design Company crafts inspired interiors for homeowners who value a sophisticated blend of classic elegance and everyday utility. With a signature approach rooted in intentional minimalism, Sarah ensures every design element serves a distinct purpose, resulting in spaces that feel both meaningful and balanced.
Modern Heirloom SALT DESIGN COMPANY’S SERENE SITTING ROOM
Inspired by the charm and character of a classic New England sitting room, Sarah Brady of Salt Design Co. envisioned her My Rowe Design space as one that felt collected over time, balancing traditional forms with natural materials and subtle nods to historical architecture. More than just a setting for formal occasions, she created this space to become the heart of a home. “I imagine a family using this room as their everyday retreat,” Sarah explains, “where someone curls up with a book on a rainy afternoon, where kids gather after school, and where friends linger long after dinner.” The result is a gathering place that feels beautifully rooted in tradition, while remaining casual and relaxed enough for daily use.

“It’s the kind of room that feels equally suited for morning coffee, afternoon reading, or gathering with family and friends around the fire.”

Finishing Touches
THE ROOM IS DESIGNED TO BE BEAUTIFUL, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, TO BE LIVED IN.
12016-94
Serving as the focal point of the space, our Moreau Sofa in a charming indigo floral print anchors a cozy seating area built for conversation and connection. Near the fireside, a Heywood Chair in rich brown velvet and a pair of Madeline Chairs in tan windowpane check add layers of timeless pattern and texture, while sleek accent tables introduce a note of contemporary simplicity. “Without question, the Moreau Sofa is my favorite piece,” says Sarah. “It’s the anchor of the room and perfectly captures what we love about Rowe—beautiful proportions, incredible comfort, and a classic silhouette that feels current without chasing trends.”

Salt Design Company’s Favorites Sources of Inspiration Travel, history, and classic New England architecture. I am constantly inspired by old homes, historic estates, and places that have a strong sense of permanence and authenticity. The best spaces tell a story, and I often find those stories in architecture that have stood the test of time. Room to Design Kitchens. I love the challenge of balancing beauty and function. They are often the hardest-working rooms in a home and require thoughtful planning, but they also become the heart of family life. When a kitchen works well, everything else in the home feels easier. Travel Destination Italy. The architecture, craftsmanship, food, and effortless way that history and modern life coexist are endlessly inspiring. Nantucket would be a very close second. Music to Fuel Creativity In the Salt office we play a mix of many genres. You can typically hear 60s and 70s classic rock, oldies, surf rock and the occasional tropical house mix to brighten up the vibe and embrace the day’s hustle.
12 My Rowe Design Fall 2026
“I keep coming back to the Bristol Slipcovered Sectional. It’s the perfect lounging sofa— comfortable enough for everyday life, yet refined enough for a beautifully designed space. Its relaxed silhouette and generous scale invite people to sink in, stay awhile, and truly use the room.”
TOP 5 DESIGN RULES
1
Prioritize function before aesthetics.
2
Layer textures instead of relying on bold colors.
3
Invest in timeless pieces over trendy ones.
4
Every room needs a mix of old and new.
5
I love breaking the “everything must match” rule; some of the most interesting spaces come from thoughtful contrast.
Tess Interiors Tess Twiehaus Los Angeles, CA tessinteriors
16 My Rowe Design Fall 2026
Tess Twiehaus is the founder and principal designer of Tess Interiors, a Los Angeles– based interior design studio specializing in thoughtfully layered, highly personal spaces. Her work blends timeless architecture with unexpected color, pattern, texture, and vintage elements to create interiors that feel collected rather than overly designed. With a background spanning residential, hospitality, retail, and workplace design, Tess brings a holistic perspective to every project, balancing beauty with the way people actually live. At the heart of her approach is a belief that the best interiors are a reflection of the people who inhabit them—intentional, expressive, and built to evolve over time.
Organic Elegance TESS INTERIORS’ PATTERNED PARADISE
For her My Rowe Design space, Tess Twiehaus of Tess Interiors set out to create a living room that felt richly layered without feeling overly formal, envisioning it for a family who “gathers for parties, game nights, the whole shebang.” Her most distinctive flourish is a pair of floor-to-ceiling fabric walls, dramatically draped in a Rowe indigo floral fabric to create an almost theatrical backdrop for the room. “My goal was to balance playfulness and elegance,” Tess explains, and that interplay of ideas carries throughout the space and all its furnishings.

Finishing Touches
MY GOAL WAS TO BALANCE PLAYFULNESS AND ELEGANCE.
In front of one of the draped walls, a pale blue Heywood Chair and floral Brampton Chair create an eye-catching focal point as they flank an antique buffet. Across the room sits a 98” Moreau Sofa in warm brown, its generous contours and simple elegance providing a lovely counterpoint to the room’s abundance of pattern and texture. “I love the lines of this piece,” says Tess of Moreau, praising it as “classic and contemporary in all the right ways.” At the center of the space, built-in cabinetry upholstered in a repeating forest-inspired print surrounds a mirrored bar, complete with a striking natural stone counter. Together, the elements create a space that feels collected, unexpected, and ready for entertaining.

Tess Interiors 19
Tess Interiors’ Favorites Sources of Inspiration Fashion is my number one source of inspiration. Room to Design I love a kitchen. The challenge of making it function and making it beautiful is why I love interior design. Travel Destination Italy or Ojai. Music to Fuel Creativity It’s all over the place. Sometimes it’s the Cranberries or Mariah Carey, sometimes it’s Doechii or Bad Bunny. It depends on the day (and the task).
TOP 5 DESIGN RULES
1
Natural wood is a must in every room; warmth is essential.
2
Incorporate as much vintage as you can, the blend of old and new will bring balance.
3
Don’t be afraid of color and pattern. White, beige, and gray are the accents.
4
Natural materials are superior. Aging is a beautiful thing in life and interior design.
5
Must have “Weirdo Candy.” If it’s too perfect, it’s not real…inject some personality!
“The Bristol Slip Sofa and the Whitby Slipcovered Chair. I am here for the slipcover moment, may it last forever!”

Melodic Muse KATHY KUO HOME’S CREATIVE SALON
For designer Kathy Kuo, the dream of a musical salon was both deeply personal and wonderfully communal. Her My Rowe Design imagines a room that shifts with the rhythm of the day, serving as a quiet creative retreat in the morning before transforming into a lively gathering spot after hours. Fringed drapery and dark walnut-finish millwork create an enveloping backdrop, while velvet, aged brass, marble, and richly layered textiles combine in an aesthetic that feels luxurious and immersive.

I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED
17
A MUSICAL SALON; A ROOM THAT IS MINE DURING THE
16
DAY AND EVERYONE’S 19
AT NIGHT. 21
At the center of it all, an 110” Adler Sofa in mauve velvet brings spacious softness and a feminine note to the salon. “It just becomes the heart of the room,” says Kathy. “The proportions are so generous, people settle in, and they stay.” Flanked by Odessa Slip Dining Chairs in a floral stripe and Petra Swivel Ottomans in woodland tapestry, the seating arrangements create a sociable setting for conversation, music, and everything in between. Here, the imagined occupant of Kathy’s space might gather with her circle of eclectic friends for a spontaneous evening of creativity. “Someone brings a guitar, another friend sings something from memory,” imagines the designer, “the marble tables hold drinks and handwritten lyrics, ottomans get pulled wherever another seat is needed.” A salon in the truest sense of the word, the space would allow creativity, connection, and the simple joy of making something together to take center stage.

Kathy Kuo Home 27
Kathy Kuo Home’s Favorites Sources of Inspiration Growing up in a diplomatic family, we moved constantly. I learned early that home is not a location, it’s a feeling, and the objects that traveled with us were what made each new place ours. I think constantly about materials, how things are made. That’s always been [my inspiration], curiosity about craft and the belief that beauty is never accidental. Room to Design What I love in any room is designing it so there’s an energetic pulse. I think about clients: how do they actually live? What makes them feel most like themselves? Which means every room is different, and that’s exactly why I still love it. Travel Destination Every trip changes you a little, that’s the whole point. I visited 30+ countries before I was 30, learning from artisans from Tuscany to Marrakech. Seeing how things are actually made by people who have been doing it for generations changes how you see every object. Music to Fuel Creativity Piano-led jazz, spiritual jazz, chamber music, good folk, soulful singer-songwriters. Anything that feels like there’s a real human being behind it!

“The Penelope Swivel Chair, for the pleated roll arms and the curved back. I mean, she’s a swivel chair and somehow she’s also a little dressy? I love that.”
TOP 5 DESIGN RULES
1
Always start with the feeling, not the furniture.
2
Start with symmetry and classic forms, then break them on purpose.
3
Go bigger on your rug. People always size down and then regret it.
4
Every room needs one outlandish thing, something slightly off: scale, material, a color choice.
5
Invest in your upholstery. I don’t mean the fabric, I mean the construction— a well-built sofa is worth every single penny.
