Quintana Roo Quintana Roo es un Estado joven con una población total cercana a los 1.8 millones de habitantes, donde la cultura Maya es la cultura de origen. La más grande de sus ciudades es Cancún, con el segundo aeropuerto más importante de México. Su capital es Chetumal y hace frontera con Belice.

La Riviera Maya es el corredor turístico de 120 km de costa que va, hacia el sur, desde la salida de Cancún hasta Tulum.

Cancún y los destinos de la Riviera Maya, incluyendo Holbox, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel y Tulum conforman actualmente el destino turístico más importante de México y América Latina.

Cancún y Playa del Carmen: La opción más económica es el autobús, sale cada 30 minutos. Busca en el aeropuerto los puestos de venta ADO. Si viajas con familia hacia un hotel, el taxi colectivo suele dar una buena tarifa.

Whether you’re travelling alone or as a couple, the relatively low-cost of the ADO bus service is your best option to reach your destination in Cancun, Playa del Carmen or Tulum. Look for the ADO stalls. They have departures every 30 minutes. If you’re travelling with your family to a hotel, the city bus-taxis usually give a good rate.

Tulum: Puedes viajar en autobús o taxi hasta tu hotel. Si eliges autobús, deberás cambiar de autobús en Playa del Carmen. De Playa a Tulum, también puedes tomar transporte colectivo, que es más económico, solo recuerda que al llegar a las terminales de Tulum deberás tomar taxi directo a tu hotel.

You can reach your hotel in Tulum by city bus or taxi. If you go to Tulum by bus, you must get off at the Playa del Carmen station to transfer buses. From Playa to Tulum, in addition to the ADO bus, you can either take the city bus “colectivo”, which is cheaper, or a taxi to arrive directly at your destination.

Puerto Morelos: Toma el autobús ADO que va hasta Playa del Carmen, se detiene antes en Puerto Morelos.

You can take the ADO bus, directly to Puerto Morelos, from there the buses continue to Playa del Carmen.

Holbox: Viaja en cualquier transporte hasta la población de Chiquilá, ahí los ferries salen cada media hora por $150.00 pesos. Si vas en autobús, hay que bajar en la estación de Cancún Centro y transbordar hacia Chiquilá.

Whichever means of transportation you choose, your destination is the town of Chiquilá. That’s where the ferries depart every half hour for $150.00 pesos. If you travel by bus, you must get off at the Cancun central station and transfer buses.

Isla Mujeres: Toma el transporte de tu preferencia hasta le estación Cancún Centro, y de ahí toma un taxi hacia la terminal de ferrys, salen cada 15 min. Si te hospedas en Cancún, puedes tomar el ferry en la terminal nueva, ubicada en la zona hotelera.

Take your preferred means of transportation to reach Cancun central station, where you can take a taxi to the ferry terminal which departs every 15 minutes. If you are staying in the hotel zone, you can take the ferry at the new maritime terminal.

Cozumel: Hay que llegar a Playa del Carmen. Ahí los ferries están muy cerca de la terminal de autobuses que da a la Quinta Avenida. Los ferrys cruzan cada media hora por $190.00 pesos.

You have to reach Playa del Carmen. The ADO bus station on the Quinta Avenida is located nearby the ferries, which cross every half hour for $190.00 pesos.

Chetumal y Costa Maya: Para ir a Chetumal y Bacalar, es necesario llegar a la terminal Cancún Centro y tomar un nuevo autobús. Lo mismo hay que hacer para llegar a Mahahual y al corredor arqueológico de la selva Maya. Chetumal tiene aeropuerto internacional.

To visit Chetumal and Bacalar by bus, it is necessary to depart from Cancun central station and take a transfer bus. The same means are necessary to reach Mahahual and the archaeological corridor of the Mayan jungle. Chetumal has an international airport.

Toma en cuenta que: / Consider that: Autobuses ADO es una de las formas más convenientes para moverte hacia distintos puntos, es económica, segura, y su red abarca una buena parte del país. / ADO buses are the most convenient way to reach your next destination. They are safe and all around cheaper than private transportation. Their network covers the entire country.

Los taxis son seguros, existen puntos llamados “sitio de taxis” donde puedes tomarlos con confianza, tienen tarifas fijas hacía todos los destinos, pregunta por ellas. / Taxis are also safe.

You can take them at designated areas called “Sitio de taxis”, which are always located near main tourist spots. They have fixed prices for main destinations.

Para ir a más de un destino, no lo dudes, lo mejor es rentar auto.

Además, podrás visitar cenotes y otras atracciones a lo largo de tu trayecto. / To visit more than one destination, don’t hesitate to rent a car. You’ll have a chance to visit cenotes and local attractions all along your journey.

Lo que más disfruto es practicar el ciclismo. Mi ruta favorita es llegar a Valladolid desde Tulum o Cobá, y de regreso. La mejor hora para emprender el camino es al amanecer.

El clima es fresco, la brisa ligera y hay pocos autos.

Hacia Cobá, los caminos vecinales están poco transitados y hay comunidades mayas en cada kilometro.

Es fácil encontrar a una familia Maya que quiera venderte algo de comer ó puedes pasar la noche en su casa.

Local Advice:

What I enjoy the most is cycling. My favorite route is reaching Valladolid through Tulum or Cobá.

The best hour to hit the road is at the crack of dawn; cooler temperatures, a light breeze and only a few cars on the road. Near Cobá, the secondary roads are ideal for cycling, there are Mayan villages a few kilometres apart from each other. Is easy to find a family that will gladly sell you some local food or let you spend the night. @AguilasMayas

Kibis

Son una reminiscencia del kibbeh libanés: bolitas fritas de carne molida, rellenas de más carne molida, pero con un regional topping de cebolla morada y col. Un clásico de la calle y las playas.

They are reminiscent of the Lebanese kibbeh: fried meatballs, stuffed with more ground beef, but with a regional red onion and cabbage topping. A street and beach classic.

Cancún está dividida en dos zonas principales: la zona hotelera y el centro de la ciudad. La zona centro es muy extensa, mayormente residencial y con zonas comerciales atractivas que te permitirán conocer la vida local de Cancún. La zona hotelera tiene una extensión de 21 kilómetros: de un lado playas hermosas y súper hoteles; y del otro, la laguna Nichupté con muchas opciones de buena comida y entretenimiento. La manera más económica para trasladarte entre la zona hotelera y la zona centro es el transporte público, que corre sobre los 21 kms del Boulevard Kukulkán y las principales avenidas. Aquí también puedes optar por taxi. Cancún hoy es una ciudad segura y bien vigilada en estas dos zonas, procura no explorar más allá; como en todas las ciudades, existen espacios más vulnerables al conflicto. *** Cancun is divided into two main areas: the hotel zone and downtown Cancun, which is very extensive, mostly residential and with some attractive shopping areas. The hotel zone is 21 kilometers long: on one side, beautiful beaches and great hotels, on the other side, Nichupte Lagoon with many great food options and entertainment. The cheapest way to move between the hotel zone and downtown is by bus, which runs along the 21 km of Boulevard Kukulkan, and on the main avenues. Here you can also choose to take a taxi. Cancun is a safe and well-monitored city in these two areas. There is no need to explore further, like in all cities, there are areas that are less safe.

Recuerda que, en la mayoría de los kid’s clubs, la nanny no cuida niños menores de 3 años.

En Tulum hay dos zonas principales: el pueblo y la zona hotelera. La segunda está ubicada en una sola calle de dos sentidos. De la glorieta hacia Punta Allen está la mayoría de los hoteles y restaurantes y tiene una longitud aproximada de 8 km. Al final de la zona hotelera hay una entrada a la Reserva de Sian Ka’an.
