Distributed Site: Chilliwack
Chilliwack is one of the most popular cities in British Columbia, and it is well known for its historically recognized agricultural community. It remains on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Stó:lō Coast Salish people. Hugged by mountains, Chilliwack is a fun exploration with many activities to offer such as fishing, kayaking, hiking, mountain climbing, horseback riding, camping, and paragliding.

Art and Culture Downtown Chilliwack is the historic core of the city. This region has been home to the Stó:lō First Nations people or “people of the river”, and their history and culture has been passed on to the next generations. The aesthetic public art of Chilliwack is worth a tour for visitors. It possesses arts with historical stories and portrays indigenous culture.
Downtown Chilliwack Heritage Walking Tour
A walk-through Chilliwack’s history can be done along an information brochure, or a small fee can be paid to be part of a tour guide. The visitor will have the pleasure to walk on historic roads and learn about the different ventures that happened in the area such as The Clock Tower at Five Corners, Imperial Theatre Building, Chilliwack’s First Chinatown, and The Royal Hotel. is “Fire on Wellington”. Wellington Avenue has suffered many fires over the years till early 1900s. After which a law was passed that commercial buildings can only be constructed from brick, stone, concrete, or cement, and this can be noticed on the walkthrough looking at the mix of buildings.
Coqualeetza Grounds Trail
The purpose is to preserve and showcase the Stó:lō lifestyle, traditions, heritage, and language. Some of the common lifestyles and traditions include wind-drying fish, hunting, plant gathering, and carving. The Stó:lō First Nations people believed living a peaceful life central to family and praising all creation. There is more to discover here such as educational exhibits, and stone collections.
Stó:lō Gift Shop
The famous gift shop is great for souvenirs, and as well as to buy elements for oneself to cherish the Stó:lō lifestyle. This gift shop possesses the most unique bath and body products, carefully designed cooling towels, hand-carved silver and hand-beaded jewellery, kitchen bowls and wine glasses, old cards, and CDs. This is a must visit shop to enhance the beauty of traditions.
Farm Experiences

be explored around Chilliwack. Most of the farm themes around beautiful flowers and more commonly visited during the Summer, such as Chilliwack Sunflower Festival, Tulip Festival and Greendale Lavender Company. They offer “pick your own flower”, host events, photography sessions, festival stores, and food trucks as well.
Attractions and Adventures BC Bird Trail
British Columbia offers some of North America’s best birdwatching opportunities. The trail stretches from the Township of Langley in the west, through the Fraser River cities of Abbotsford and Chilliwack to the Village of Harrison Hot Springs at the southern end of Harrison Lake. Along the way, there are rich marshland, and plentiful salmon to welcome to migrating birds.
Hyak River Rafting
The Chilliwack River is an awesome day trip. Wrapped between the mountains of the North Cascades, the river drops 10 meters per kilometer creating long and numerous rapid waves. This is a great group activity with a wild and calming experience to raft hugged by the mountains and feeling the rush of water waves. Chilliwack is home to one of the most visited recreational areas in British Columbia which is the Cultus Lake. Cultus Lake consists of provincial parks, adventure park and British Columbia’s biggest and best waterpark, great cabins, campgrounds, and water activities. Cultus Lake Marina provides opportunities to experience modern watercrafts with exotic Jet-Skis, and powerboats with accessories such as wake boards, tubes, and glasses. Cultus Lake Adventure Park is an award-winning theme park put together by engineering and architectural experts, and well-known amusement ride manufacturers. The park consists of 18 rides, including everyone’s favorite miniature golf course.
Staycation
Chilliwack is one of the most attractive sites for tourists in British Columbia and there are numerous options to plan a staycation. There are hotels, motels, campgrounds, and RV parks. It is best to plan and book ahead as it tends to get very busy especially on long weekends during the summer. The Cabins at Cultus Lake offers services for reunions, weddings, and other events. Most of the campgrounds are towards Cultus Lake which gives a unique camping experience with access to the beach.
