RM: Your career as a TV personality must be demanding. How do you find the equilibrium between your professional pursuits and personal connections?

RM: You've appeared on shows like Hannity and Gutfeld. What's the behind-the-scenes experience like? How do you find your voice on such dynamic platforms?

CA: Achieving a balance between career and personal life has always been challenging. In my 20s, my career was everything to me. However, in 2020, right before COVID, I made a resolution to find a more balanced lifestyle. I even fled to Florida during the pandemic to recalibrate. And as I've grown, I've learned the importance of love, companionship, and personal connections. Even my dog Zorra has taught me about affection and care.

CA: Working with Sean Hannity and others at Fox has been fantastic. They’ve embraced my opinions and allowed me to flourish in areas ranging from politics to pop culture. I had a blast joining Gutfeld! It allowed me to draw on my experience with improv and stand-up comedy. Jesse Watters and the cast of Fox and Friends have also been delightful. The freedom to express myself and the opportunities provided have been gratifying and empowering.

Finding life and love in the little daily things and looking forward to a solid relationship and future family life has taught me the value of balance. It’s about embracing life in all its dimensions and nurturing myself in the process. It's a continuous journey but one I'm committed to.

RM: As someone who’s excelled both in interviewing others and being interviewed, what’s the thrill in each of these roles for you?

RM: Growing up as an only child with parents from different professional backgrounds, how has your family shaped the person and journalist you've become today? CA: My family, though small, has profoundly influenced my life. I have always had a close relationship with both my parents, even though they are divorced. My father, an entrepreneur now, is a journalist by degree, while my mother is a speech pathologist. Put those two things together, and you get me—a broadcast journalist with a passion for communication! RM: The transition to OutKick and Fox News must have been significant. Can you share what it's been like for you, breaking away from a sports-centric role? CA: Transitioning to OutKick and Fox News has been liberating. The shift from talking strictly about sports to expressing opinions on various subjects feels like a breath of fresh air. The diversity in topics and the freedom to express my thoughts have been refreshing and energizing. I'm not just reading scripts but sharing my thoughts, feelings, and opinions. It's been an exhilarating journey that's made me feel alive and more myself.

CA: I cherish both roles of being an interviewer and interviewee. Most of the time, I am the interviewer. As the interviewer, I love diving into people's stories, getting them to open up and share their thoughts and life. But being interviewed myself allows me to unlock parts of my own narrative. It's an enriching experience that opens up new avenues for growth and understanding. Whether I'm probing into someone's life or revealing my own thoughts, there's always something new to learn, something deep to uncover. It's a dance of empathy, curiosity, and connection that I thoroughly enjoy. RM: Interviewing so many icons must be exhilarating! Who stands out as your favorite interview, and why? CA: Interviewing Peyton Manning was a highlight for me. I’m from Indianapolis, he has always been “The Man” there, and as far as I’m concerned, he always will be. But I also find interviewing athletes in high-stakes situations fascinating. But it's the essence of capturing athletes in their raw, intense moments that excites me. From the regular season to playoffs, the transformation is intriguing. It's not just about the game; it's about the human spirit, focus, and the pursuit of excellence. The intensity and the drive they show at pivotal moments in their careers is absolutely captivating.

RM: From the WWE to the NBA and NFL, you've interviewed a diverse range of athletes. What distinguishes these experiences, and what have you discovered about greatness? CA: Interviewing personalities across WWE, NBA, and NFL offers unique insights – each has its own vibe, its own truth. WWE’s scripted nature contrasts the unpredictable excitement of other sports, yet the common thread is greatness. Either way, a shared greatness among athletes shines through, and I've been fortunate to uncover those facets. Whether it's Stone Cold Steve Austin or an NBA or NFL star, their charisma, determination, and unique ‘something’ inspires me every day. RM: Fitness, reading, food, music – your hobbies are varied! How do you unwind, and what passions fuel you outside of your career? CA: Yes, unwinding for me is a mix of fitness, food, reading, and music. Each hobby tells a little story about who I am. I'm passionate about fitness; I even have my personal training certification. My fitness routine has evolved over the years. Right now, I love Pilates and walks with

Zorra. In my new role, I usually read the news, but, to relax, I love curling up with a good historical novel. I also love food. I’m big on trying new restaurants and attending wine tastings. I have always loved music; I used to play the violin, and now I’m eager to learn the piano. From working out to enjoying a great meal at one of my favorite restaurants, for me, it's really about enjoying life's simple pleasures and finding joy in the everyday. RM: Living in a city like NYC, you must have some culinary gems nearby. Any favorite spots for a meal or drinks that you'd recommend? CA: NYC has amazing and unique culinary spots like Hillstone, Cosme’s, and Eataly. Nubeluz on top of the Ritz Carlton Nomad is perfect for drinks with a view. Veronika in the Fotografiska Museum is also a favorite. These are just a few gems that add flavor to my life. RM: Travel seems to be an essential part of who you are. Can you share some of your cherished destinations and what draws you to explore the world? CA: I love traveling; it’s a source of enrichment for me. It's not just about the destinations but the experiences and memories I create. Whether basking in the Mediterranean sun or connecting with my Jewish ancestry in Poland, travel helps me rediscover myself. From Italy to Greece to France, each destination adds a unique chapter to my life's journey with new perspectives enriching my life in ways I can't even begin to describe. With a bright future ahead, Charly continues to inspire and make her mark in the world of broadcasting. Her genuine approach to life and work serves as a reminder that it is possible to find harmony amidst the chaos of the limelight, making Charly Arnolt a true role model for aspiring broadcasters, fitness enthusiasts, travelers, and beyond.

Exploring D.C.’s Hidden Gems

A STAY IN GENERATOR HOTEL By Mosaka Williamson

Washington D.C. is a city full of history, culture, and exciting things to do. When planning a trip to the nation’s capital, a fantastic option is staying at the Generator Hotel, a fun upscale boutique property in the heart of Dupont Circle neighborhood. With modern design, a outdoor pool, a gym, a co-working space with free wifi, it’s the perfect base for exploring the city. The hotel is close to many of the city’s top attractions, including visiting The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, The Wharf, one of the most innovative and vibrant waterfront neighborhoods in the country. Founded in 1995, Generator is now Europe’s fastest growing boutique accommodation brand in the most central locations across Europe and the USA. The brand has locations all over the world, including in major cities like Paris, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. Each location is unique and reflects the local culture and style of the city. The Generator Hotel brand also places a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility. Many of their locations have implemented eco-friendly practices, such as using energy-efficient lighting and reducing water usage. They also work to reduce waste and promote recycling.

50 | resident.com

Generator Hotel D.C., known for its trendy modern design and vibrant social atmosphere, offers both private rooms and dorm-style shared accommodations for groups, with 80% of the rooms being private, you can have a comfortable and private stay. The hotel is also pet-friendly, so you don’t have to leave your furry friends behind. One of the standout features of the Generator Hotel is its decor created by New York-based Studio 11 Design “brought to life Generator’s distinctive ethos with an artful twist”. One unique feature of the Generator Hotel D.C., housed in a completely renovated historic building, features modern amenities, a variety of common areas, and the bar and restaurant Hoja Taqueria. Exploring D.C.’s Hidden Gems, Hoja Taqueria’s name represents ‘Comunidad’ & ‘Cultivar Maiz,’ and the menu showcases traditional flavors of Oaxaca and specializes in heirloom corn that is cultivated and harvested in the Indigenous farms within the hotel’s region. Hoja, along with the hotel’s family of farmers, creates a supportive, sustainable farm-to-table cycle and will even use herbs grown on the hotel’s rooftop on their dishes. The restaurant has a menu designed by Executive Chef Jimmy LeB-

rón, the Miami native who also oversees the Generator’s south Florida location and menus for Bar Lab’s highly acclaimed Miami restaurants and venues. Beyond the hotel there is a lot to see. Exploring D.C.’s Hidden Gems,a fantastic guide for navigating the city and finding special events. One place of note is The Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden which recently launched a docuseries titled “The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist”. Their show is about art making produced in partnership with MTV Entertainment Studios and PB&J TV + Docs. The Exhibit: Finding the Next Great Artist premiered on March 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV following RuPaul’s Drag Race and will also run on the Smithsonian Channel. The non-fiction program introduces seven rising American artists selected in consultation with Hirshhorn curators following a national search. TRAVEL | RESIDENT

A highlight of visiting D.C. is going during Cherry Blossom season, when these colorful trees are located all over the city. Nothing signifies the arrival of spring in the nation’s capital quite like the blooming of the cherry blossom trees and the National Cherry Blossom Festival to celebrate the occasion. Visitors descend upon Washington, DC each year to admire the 3,000-plus trees. American and Japanese cultures have developed a close bond and forged a strong connection between the two countries that began with Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki’s gift of the trees back in 1912. Cherry Blossom is currently underway. The Wharf, which covers over 3.5 million square feet, offers stunning architecture, prime residential and retail space, and exceptional culinary and entertainment options. It also features three live music venues and over 85 dining and shopping concepts including: Philippe Chow (with their only location outside NYC), acclaimed Greek restaurant Limani, modern and traditional Lebanese Ilili, and Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen. These upscale restaurants have become staples of New York’s most discerning diners and they are all located in one place along a stunning D.C. waterfront. Here you will find a myriad of rooftops, piers, promenades, and green spaces that offer stunning views of the water and the city.

52 | resident.com

The Wharf has become known as the region’s top destination for public events, with over 100 signature activations each year, including The District’s Holiday Boat Parade, Bloomaroo at the Home of the Cherry Blossoms, Mardi Gras Parade at The Wharf, Oktoberfest, and Running of the Chihuahuas. “The Wharf is for everybody. It’s a place where people connect with each other – to live, to work, to dine, and to celebrate. The waterfront, food, and music may be the catalysts, but it’s the millions of visitors who create their own authentic experience. And today, we celebrate the opening of The Wharf ’s final phase and making DC a true waterfront city,” said Monty Hoffman, Founder and Chairman of Hoffman & Associates. When you aren’t enjoying the fine dining at the Wharf, another great restaurant to check out is Michele’s. The restaurant, named after Michelin-Starred Chef Baker’s late mother, is inspired by his mother’s love for classic bistro and brasserie fare. This shows through his approach to cooking, cuisine, and hospitality. Chef Baker uses his classical French training to bring new inspiration to beloved dishes. Michele’s offers an upscale New American dining experience with a traditional French accent. This may very well be the next D.C. restaurant to be recognized by Michelin inspectors. When you’re ready to relax after a day of sightseeing, head back to the Generator Hotel. You can borrow bikes to explore the city, take a dip in the outdoor pool, or enjoy a meal at the new restaurant, Hoja Taqueria. Whether you’re in town for work or play, the Generator Hotel is the perfect home base.

BETWEEN LIGHT & DARK By HILLARY LATOS

90 | resident.com

This black and white series of fine art photographs depicts celebrities in a new and unfamiliar context . Udo tells a story with each scene and creates an atmosphere meant to intrigue, captivate and mesmerize. Through his carefully designed set: scenography, make-up, and foremost light, rooted in the distinctive cinematic language inspired by film noir, Udo achieves to create dramatic emotions. The interplay of light and shadow, the brightness and darkness, emphasize ambiguity, as known from film sets by Alfred Hitchcock or David Lynch. Strange, erotic, or ambivalent emotions are found throughout Udo’s carefully designed scenes. His characteristic use of light and shadow dramatizes the scene and creates tension. This tension, along with the capture of a specific moment, allows the viewer to get a glimpse into the soul of the subject, rather than just seeing the surface. His protagonists are often alienated, and sometimes find themselves trapped in unwanted, but never hopeless situations. Udo heightens this tension even more through emphasizing attitudes as well as motivations.

Mischa Barton’s portrait shot from above is reminiscent of Hitchcock’s Vertigo and The Birds. The star’s wide-open eyes, scream, and body position underline her unease and fear in anticipation of the upcoming drama. Nonetheless, the viewer feels intrigued and captivated, eager to catch a glimpse of the other side, from the character’s point of view. On the other hand, Meg Ryan depicts the paradigm of a confident New Yorker, a tribute to Marylin Monroe's photograph on the roof of the Ambassador Hotel from 1955. Tyra Banks has become a central character of many of Udo's outstanding fine art photographs. It is she who participated in their joint project Tyra 15, transforming the ultra- top model into 15 other high-profile celebrities. This series went on to become one of the most recognized projects of Udo’s fine art photography. Udo’s timeless photograph of Daniel Brühl in front of a seemingly infinite sky scraper, reminds of the existentialist intellectual movement and paintings of Hopper, as well as novels by Franz Kafka with their protagonists being at the mercy of the system. Udo deviates from the traditionally accepted composition by replacing it with an upward perspective, bringing the character even closer to the viewer.

Inspiration "I have always been fascinated by Renaissance paintings, by Caravaggio, who virtually invented this interplay of light and shadow. When the light suddenly bursts out of the darkness, I find that intriguing. I always seek to achieve this depth with my photography." About the artist Udo Spreitzenbarth is an international art, fashion and beauty photographer. Udo was born in Germany, and resides in New York City. While studying architecture at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Udo developed an interest in modeling and fashion photography. It was then that he realized his passion for being behind the camera. After his first year in New York City, he shot his first billboard campaign that landed on a screen in Times Square. His editorial photography has been featured in international issues of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and more. His art photography has received international acclaim with a successful series of solo exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt, Shanghai, and Beijing.

Between Light and Dark, the ambiguous black and white series fascinates the viewers by showing the duality of the characters’ emotions.

TEENS TAKE CHARGE: YOUNG ADVOCATES RAISE MORE THAN $90,000 FOR PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH By Norah Lawlor

The 2nd annual Kids Cancel Cancer, benefiting the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF), took place at The Clubhouse in East Hampton. In addition to raising crucial funds for pediatric cancer research, the event was an entertaining evening of arcade games, miniature golf, close-up magic by Chuck Hayes, great food, a thrilling live and silent auction facilitated by Grandstand Sports and Memorabilia, and much more. “Unlike, other fundraising events put on by SWCRF, this one is unique, since it was created and organized by kids,” said Marion Waxman, who is spearheading the event. “This year’s event raised more than $90,000. Funds will support the work of two leading pediatric cancer investigators – one based at St. Jude’s Research Hospital and the other at Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Israel.”

The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation is an international organization dedicated to curing and preventing cancer. The Foundation is a pioneer in cancer research and its mission is to eradicate cancer by funding cutting-edge research that identifies and corrects abnormal gene function that causes cancer and develops minimally toxic treatments for patients. Through the Foundation’s collaborative group of world-class scientists, the Institute Without Walls, investigators share information and tools to speed the pace of cancer research. Since its inception in 1976, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation has awarded more than $100 million to support the work of more than 200 researchers across the globe. While pediatric cancer deaths have declined by 65 percent over the past few decades, cancer remains a leading cause of death for children and

teenagers. In fact, it is estimated that 10,500 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed among children (birth to 14 years old) each year, and about 1,190 children will die from the disease. Additionally, a recent study published in Aging AND Cancer found that childhood cancer survivors experience serious health issues in adult life, much earlier than their counterparts who did not have cancer as a kid. “This is why prioritizing research to develop new treatments for childhood cancer is so urgent,” said Mrs. Waxman. Notable Attendees included: Dr. Samuel Waxman, Marion Waxman, Mischa Abend, Abey Fuks, Ava Litman, Hayley Silvers, Celine Rattray, Jean Shafiroff, Chuck Hayes The Event was co-chaired by Mischa Abend, Abey Fuks, Ava Litman, Hayley Silvers. Amy Green and her husband, Gary, hosted the inaugural Footprint of Life Gala at their residency in Bridgehampton this summer. The family-run The Green Vision Foundation curated a night to bring together like-minded organizations to collectively support and bring much-needed awareness. The humanitarians produced an incredible jungle-themed “50 Shades of Green” soiree to benefit the charity partners’ work to preserve and protect the natural world, promote community upliftment, and most importantly support conservation programs across Africa. This inaugural day aims to pave the way for many more events to come that will center around the New York region and other communities throughout America.

More than just another party, the first gathering represented a movement that guests could fully embrace during a glamorous night that showcased captivating moments cocktails, curated food stations, a live auction, as well as a special guest performance by JAN BLOMQVIST. Additionally, work by David Yarrow, recognized as one of the best fine art photographers in the world, was prominently displayed. The artist has been documenting the natural world from new perspectives and the last nine years have been career defining. Education on key conservation efforts which protect wildlife and enhance livelihoods across the world was a key focus during the party as well as recognition on the critical need for action to combat the illegal wildlife trade, antipoaching efforts to protect endangered species, and preserve the planet’s biodiversity and dwindling natural resources. “Sustainability, conservation, education, and love of animals have always been close to my heart,” states Amy. “I have been promoting

these causes throughout my life and am honored to take this a step further by creating The Footprint of Life Gala. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I know together we can spread a word of love, kindness and commitment to create significant change.”

The philanthropic causes that will benefit include an array of well-recognized global organizations. Tusk for more than three decades has produced innovative conservation action in Africa. Under the Royal Patronage of HRH Prince William, The Prince of Wales, the charity has raised over $130 million for conservation and community livelihoods programs. The African Community & Conservation Foundation provides a gateway platform to connect citizens of the world with a strategic and sustainable community and conservation programs underway in Africa. The latest ACCF expansion projects include Karingani in Mozambique, the Rwanda Project – Volcanoes National Park, and The Malilangwe Trust in Zimbabwe. “As a mother, I understand the importance of this for the next generation,” reflects Amy. “When I look at the climate crisis, worsening statistics, and reports of irreversible damage, I can’t help but think of my daughter and the world I’m leaving behind for her. We cannot continue to ignore the crisis. While others talk about change, the ACCF spearheads conservation and anti-poaching projects as well as community outreach programs that make a difference in the African and global landscape. Conservation is a key component of protecting ourselves, our planet, and our future. The ACCF’s values and missions ensure we pay attention to urgent issues, invest in the African ecosystem, and promote practices that will reward us for years to come.” The charitable night run by The Green Vision Foundation was sponsored by The Zangrillo Family Foundation and Russel James in collaboration with Tusk, UNICEF, Faith Tribe, Nobu, Hamptons Magazine and the African Community & Conservation Foundation. The event came off the heels of the couple’s philanthropic efforts last year when they hosted at their home Karibu Africa, which supported conservation work of both Tusk and ACCF. They also were involved with the March 2022 Fire and Ice Gala for 100 Billion Meals,

which is Tony Robbins’ organization to help eliminate the current hunger crisis. Amy is a former FOX Sports journalist who has recently brought awareness to several other causes as a chair member and ambassador for the African Community & Conservation Foundation, 100 Billion Meals, as well as The Tusk Trust.

As a humanitarian and philanthropist, she is no stranger to helping others in need. The opportunity to elevate a platform for giving with The Green Vision inspired her to establish a movement. Built from a profound love for her family, she became a visionary dedicated to finding means to fund and help organizations across the globe. Amy’s passion has found a meaningful purpose and promotes the important values found in active advocacy today.

THE ELLEN HERMANSON FOUNDATION ELEVATES HAMPTONS FUNDRAISING WITH TWO PREMIERE EVENTS THIS SUMMER TO AID THE BATTLE AGAINST BREAST CANCER By Norah Lawlor

This summer in the Hamptons two important events will help enlighten and bring much-needed awareness to an important cause. The 28th Annual ELLEN'S RUN followed by the Summer Gala which will take place at the beautiful waterfront Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club. With the ongoing efforts of the co-founder and chairwoman, Julie Ratner, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation stands to raise crucial funds through two important benefits. Since the organization’s inception with the leadership of Ratner, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has awarded more than $6 million in grants. Having changed the medical landscape of the East End of Long Island by ensuring access to state-of-the- art breast health care and empowering people with cancer, The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center is recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. The great task of no one being turned away due to lack of health insurance is just one crucial life-changing effort. There is also an emergency medical fund that provides essential services and its Community Partnerships with the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center, OLA (Organización Latino-Americana), the Retreat and the Shinnecock Indian Health Center. No patient is turned away from the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center for lack of insurance or inability to pay for treatment.

To support the system set up through the foundation, various fundraisers throughout the summer have been curated and created. Scheduled this season will first be the 28th Annual ELLEN'S RUN in Southampton, attendees will gather for a day of sportsmanship. The Run has proudly been named Best Sporting Event by Dan’s Papers: Best of the Best for several consecutive years. Registered runners and walkers at the prestigious event can sprint or walk 3.1 miles. Even if you cannot be in the Hamptons in person, you can join virtually to help raise funds with a post of your walk anytime, anywhere. Everyone who registers receives a complimentary t-shirt and finishers medal. The First Annual Ellen’s Run attracted more than 500 participants and raised more than $62,000. Ellen's Run has now become the largest race on the South Fork, with nearly 900 registered participants. Following, the Summer Gala will take place at the beautiful waterfront Bridgehampton Tennis & Surf Club. The premiere soiree will honor Dr. Edna Kapenhas, Medical Director of The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital as well as Victoria Schneps. President and Co-Publisher Schneps Media. Ticketed guests can gather for a divine night of cocktails, dinner, dancing, as well as a beach bonfire. A sponsored live auction will raise crucial funds with featured tickets to Stephen Colbert, a Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden, and even opening night admittance to the famed Metropolitan Opera. Both fundraisers will showcase the important and heartwarming mission of Julie and The Ellen Hermanson Foundation, which she founded in 1996 with her sister Emily Levin. Named in honor of their younger sister, Ellen, who died in 1995 of breast cancer at the age of 42. Ellen Hermanson was an articulate, courageous, and indomitable warrior in the war against breast cancer. Her personal battle with the disease began in February 1989, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer while still nursing her six-month-old daughter. Ellen fought against her disease medically by undergoing surgery and aggressive chemotherapy.

She became an active member of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), which advocates for survivors of all types of cancer. Later she served on its board and edited its quarterly newsletter, The Networker. When Ellen looked to her own heritage for spiritual support and sustenance, she found that what she sought did not exist. Instead of bemoaning this lack, Ellen became one of the founders of the Jewish Healing Center. She also served as the organization’s founding executive director and the first editor of its newsletter, The Outstretched Arm. Later she was appointed as the first executive director of the Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert. Ellen coordinated and organized their annual October symposium, bringing together doctors and lawyers to tackle cutting-edge issues in health law and policy confronting cancer patients. In the fall of 1992, Ellen was diagnosed with a recurrence of her disease, this time in her bones. Ellen continued her work. Although she underwent chemotherapy and would remain on chemo for the rest of her life, her condition worsened. Ellen’s many projects included editing the Annual Report of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for 1993. In November 1994, Ellen delivered an important speech entitled “One Patient’s Pain” at the NCCS annual conference. She was weak, barely able to walk, and facing hip replacement surgery that her doctors agreed to delay until after the conference. It was at this conference that Justice Sandra Day O’Connor spoke of her breast cancer. Ellen lost her hard-fought battle with breast cancer on April 11th, 1995, at the age of 42. She was working on an article exploring the then new and exciting potential of the Internet as a source of information and sharing for patients and their families. Ellen left a legacy of dignity, courage, determination, grace, and love to all who knew her. To honor her memo-

ry, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has been established to support and continue the important work she began. Since 1997, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has changed the medical landscape of the East End of Long Island, where breast cancer diagnosis and mortality rates are among the highest in New York state. With a deep commitment to the community, the Foundation gives back by funding state-of-the-art medical equipment and breast cancer screenings at The Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and locations in Hampton Bays and East Hampton. Proceeds also benefit Ellen’s Well, a free psycho-social services program that provides social support and other healing opportunities for breast cancer survivors. No one is turned away from the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center for lack of insurance or inability to pay. Over the past 27 years, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation has awarded more than $6 million in grants. The Ellen Hermanson Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization recognized by the IRS and the State of New York. Currently, Julie is a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and the New York State Breast Cancer Network. She has also served on the boards of the League Education and Treatment Center in Brooklyn (as President), Congressman Tim Bishop’s Breast Cancer Advisory Board, the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Chamber Symphony, the Hadassah Foundation, and The American Friends of the Soroka Medical Center of the Negev in Israel. IN EVERY BELIEF THERE IS A LIE By Lisa Schermerhorn Psychology

LIFE AND OTHER SHORTCOMINGS By Corie Adjmi Fiction

What would you do if you discovered that most of what you believe about yourself is a lie? Discover how to identify and release your lies and uncover your undisputed truth.

Life and Other Shortcomings is a collection of linked short stories that takes the reader from New Orleans to New York City to Madrid, and from 1970 to the present day. The women in these twelve stories make a number of different choices: some work, others don't; some stay married, some get divorced; others never marry at all. Through each character's intimate journey, specific truths are revealed about what it means to be a woman―in a relationship with another person, in a particular culture and era―and how these conditions ultimately affect her relationship with herself. The stories as a whole depict patriarchy, showing what still might be, (and certainly what was) for some women in this country before the #MeToo movement. Both a cautionary tale and a captivating window into women's lives, Life and Other Shortcomings is required reading for anyone interested in an honest, incisive, and compelling portrayal of the female experience.

Most of us have lived lives programmed by parents, teachers, friends, socioeconomic status, news, culture, religion, and even genetics. In this book, you will discover the different ways you have been lied to, lied to yourself, and lied to others unconsciously. Living a lie often causes fear, regret, stress, unhappiness, and an inability to reach your full potential. Examples of the Lies we believe: That you are not smart That money is the root of all evil That when you forgive, your actions are absolved The Lie that you can solve your problems using the same thinking you had when you created them And more…

THE TRUTH ABOUT HORSES By Christy Cashman Young Adult Fiction

In another set of circumstances that hold a different fate, Kate doesn’t have to wonder. Because in that “other” world, in the pulsepounding seconds after Olivia goes under, she doesn’t come back up.

Fourteen-year-old Reese’s dream of winning the Black Elk race is shattered when her beloved horse, Trusted Treasure, falls at the last jump and the vet suggests they put him down. While still reeling from that loss, her family suffers a second tragedy—one that results in the end of their family business, the sale of Trusted Treasure, and irreparable damage to Reese’s relationship with her father. Heartbroken and still longing to find Trusted Treasure, Reese meets Wes, a selective mute, whose way of training horses is unlike anything she’s ever seen. If anyone can win the Black Elk, it’s Wes—but he’s struggling with his troubled past, and having a teenage girl hanging around his barn isn’t exactly what he’d planned. Through heartaches and triumphs, Reese must prove her worth if she wants to heal her family, help Wes, and show them all that some dreams are worth fighting for. A spellbinding tale in which every teenager has magical powers within them just waiting to be discovered, this book will have you laughing and crying—sometimes on the same page—all the while rooting for Reese, the most unlikely of heroes.

Told in parallel timelines, Kate begins to live two lives—one in which Olivia resurfaces and one in which she doesn’t. In the reality that follows her daughter’s death, she maneuvers through every mother’s worst nightmare, facing grief, rage, and the question of purpose in the aftermath of such profound loss. She endures, day by day, in a world without her daughter.

THE OTHER YEAR By Rea Frey Fiction On a coveted two-week beach vacation, working mom Kate Baker’s nine-year-old daughter, Olivia, vanishes suddenly among the waves—a heart-dropping incident that threatens to uproot her entire reality. But in the next moment, Olivia resurfaces, joyously splashing. What would I do if she didn’t come up? Kate wonders. How would I live without her?

In her alternate timeline, while she explores a tremulous romance with her best friend, Jason, she finds herself grappling with the ex-husband who abandoned Kate and Olivia years prior. Even as Kate scrambles to hold her daughter close, Olivia pulls further away. The line between joy and loss seems to get thinner with each passing day. Woven into a single story, both Kates discover a breathtaking fragility and resilience in their respective journeys. Bringing to light the drastic polarities dire circumstances often create, The Other Year explores truths about love, loss, and the sharp turns any life can take in the blink of an eye.

DE KOON ING HOUSE *

As you meander down your quarter mile long driveway and cross your own private bridge, you will get a glimpse, through a stand of native cedar trees, of de Kooning House. This magnificent modern house looks as if it belongs on the East End of Long Island, but it is just as natural sited among the woodlands of Bucks County. This 7,000 sq. ft beauty captures all of the excitement and architectural significance of a true 1980’s Hampton’s gem. The exterior is a dark gray vertical cedar that has been freshly painted. All of the windows and doors have been replaced with black metal Marvin products… the result transcends the years and remains a aesthetic classic. The integrity of the home has been assured with the installation of a new rubber roof which is an obligatory feature of this architectural style. The interior is sprawling as it moves from “greenhouse” kitchen to dining, living room and library. The open concept is encapsulated with walls of glass in all directions to capture the natural canvas as sculpted by nature. There are 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths and are all suited for both family members and extended guests. de Kooning House is a rare find, on many levels. In a world of center hall colonials, the concept of excitement and the thrill of a “Wow” factor have become lost. As you wander around the home, the glass, wood and the curvilinear fireplace wall…all merge to create the brushstroke of an architectural painting. Above the expanded garage is a reimagined one bedroom apartment with sliding glass doors to a large deck. This apartment is ideal for a caretakers, au pair or in-laws. Like all homes from a bygone era, the interior will need updating to meet the creative desires of future stewards. de Kooning House is not for everyone; it is a home for someone who is redefining their lifestyle and wants to exist within a $2,200,000 living work of art and not one of the many “little boxes” currently on the market. *In the style of
