Dear Friends, The public launch of our From Hope to Home capital campaign marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Rescue One—but it's also the beginning of a challenge that will require all of us to come together. For more than twelve years, Rescue One has grown to meet the needs of animals and the people who love them. Every day, we see firsthand how desperately our community needs expanded access to affordable veterinary care, emergency rescue services, spay and neuter programs, and resources that help keep pets with their families. The truth is simple: our mission has outgrown our current space. Our new facility will allow us to triple our impact, but a project of this size cannot be accomplished by a handful of people alone. It will take our entire community—animal lovers, businesses, volunteers, donors, and advocates—working together to make this vision a reality. Whether your contribution is a donation, a shared social media post, a conversation with a friend, or simply believing in what we are building, every action moves us closer to the day we can open our doors and serve even more animals in need. Together, we have the opportunity to create something that will impact countless lives for generations to come. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us turn hope into home.
WE ARE HONORED TO BE NAMED THE 2026 NON PROFIT OF SOUTHWEST MISSOURI!
With gratitude,
Stephanie Shelton-Mcguire Executive Director

YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK FROM HOSPICE TO HOMEMELVIN’S STORY
When Melvin arrived, his future looked uncertain. He had been on his way to a breed-specific rescue in Minnesota when another veterinarian discovered what was believed to be a splenic tumor, likely hemangiosarcoma. Suddenly, his journey changed. Instead of heading north, people began searching for a hospice home where this sweet senior could spend whatever time he had left.
We said YES. Melvin found his way to one of our incredible fosters, someone with a special place in their heart for senior dogs. At our clinic, our vets were not convinced this was a death sentence for Melvin. Ultrasounds and X-rays were inconclusive and we made the decision to move forward with surgery. We are glad we took the change because the mass wasn't attached to any organs at all. Instead, it appeared to be a capsulated abscess—something painful that had likely been making Melvin feel miserable, but something that could be removed and was not a terminal condition. Melvin recovered beautifully, proving that sometimes hope is found in the moments when you least expect it. What was supposed to be a goodbye story became a brand-new beginning. Today, Melvin isn't spending his final days in hospice. He's spending them exactly where every dog deserves to be: in his forever home, surrounded by love. Page 8
YOUR DONATIONS AT WORK LIFE AFTER RIDGLAN FARMS
For years, they knew only cages, routines, and life as research animals. The ten beagles rescued from Ridglan Farms had never chased squirrels through the yard, curled up on a couch, or fallen asleep with their heads in someone's lap.
To them, the world outside of the lab was completely unknown.
When they first arrived at Rescue One, everything was different. Grass felt strange beneath their paws. Toys didn't make sense. Simple things—like stairs, treats, or the sound of a television—were overwhelming. Some were timid and unsure, while others cautiously wagged their tails, hoping that maybe life was about to change. And change it did. Day by day, they discovered what it meant to simply be dogs. They learned that hands could offer belly rubs instead of procedures. That people could love them just because they existed. Their foster families patiently showed them the joys they had missed for so many years. Today, all ten have found forever homes. They went from experiments to family members, from numbered cages to names spoken with love, and from surviving to truly living. After everything they endured, they finally got the one thing every dog deserves: a safe and loving home. Page 9

Meet Pinky I am a 5-year-old, sweet, laid-back cat who loves cozy naps and cuddles. I enjoy kids and calm cats with slow introductions. I am happiest curled up next to my people or lounging in a sunny spot. I am FIV+ and need urinary support food for life, but thankfully, neither one stops me from being a loving, happy companion!
Meet Vivienne I am a 1 year old, gorgeous Yellow Lab/Hound mix girl with the sweetest personality and the perfect balance of playful energy and cuddle bug charm! I am 55lbs and am housebroken and crate trained. I am looking for an active home that will take me on lots of adventures and that has a privacy fenced yard. A friendly canine sibling would be a huge bonus! .
Meet Corinth I’m 6-year-old, 40-pound shepherd/lab mix. Meeting new people takes me a little bit of time to be comfortable, but when I warm up, I'm all in. Once you're in my inner circle, I'm your ride-or-die best friend. I am looking for someone who loves me for me and gives me space to settle into new routines. I go to daycare and am good with other dogs and older kids would be ok too. I do need a cat free home though please! “"I walked into the Rescue One adoption event planning to 'just look' at the cats and left with my best friend. Three years later, she's still the first thing I see every morning and the best part of coming home every night."” RESCUE ONE ADOPTER Page 10
HOW YOU CAN HELP “Volunteering in Rescue One's clinic has completely changed the way I see animal rescue. Every day, I watch pets receive lifesaving surgeries, families get affordable care they otherwise couldn't afford, and frightened animals begin their journey toward a better life. It's incredible what this team accomplishes” RESCUE ONE DONOR
