While the challenges are real, so are the victories. We are pleased to share some heartwarming success stories and transformations in this newsletter As we move forward into the coming months, your continued support remains invaluable With your help, we will continue to provide shelter, love, and hope to animals who rely on us. FEATURED ADOPTABLE PETS

Meet Moon Flower

Hi, I'm Moon Flower! I’m a 1 year old, laid-back Great Pyrenees mix I am already doing really well with house training and because I am a smart girl, it won't be long. My leash and crate skills are already stellar. With my open and loving spirit, I get along with all fur and humans alike. I do not necessarily require a fenced yard If there is a fence, it will need to be a privacy fence as I can jump a chain link fence. I will need a house setting, no apartments for me! Let’s be best friends!

Meet Spanky

My name is Spanky and I am a 7 month old kitten. I am playful and LOVE human attention and to be held If you are looking for two kittens, I would love to be adopted with one of my siblings Taki or Uh Huh. I am also FELV+, which means I might be more susceptible to infections. However, most FELV+ cats live an average lifespan I can live with other cats, as long as they are vaccinated for FELV. I am fully vetted and my adoption fee is sponsored to approved home.

Meet Annabeth

"THE FIELD OF HOPE”

On July 26th, a passerby noticed an emaciated dog, frail and trembling, wandering aimlessly in a field near the Springfield Underground. Every bone was visible through the dog's thin frame. As the Good Samaritan got closer, it became evident that this poor creature was deeply untrusting of humans. Every attempt to approach resulted in the dog retreating further into the field Realizing the urgency of the situation, they posted a plea on Facebook for someone to please rescue the dog. The same day, Rescue One’s Emergency Rescue Team, experienced in handling such situations, set up a humane trap and placed some enticing food inside, hoping to coax the dog to safety

While we were waiting for the dog to reappear, many reports were coming in that the dog had been seen living in the field for over a month Hours went by with no sightings of the dog so our team headed home for the night. An hour later, someone spotted him lying in the field A team member arrived and cautiously approached the sleeping dog and was able to put a slip lead around his neck.

Grasshopper is now available for adoption! Find out more about him here: Adopt Grasshopper!

The dog, whom we named "Grasshopper," was immediately transported to our clinic, where his journey to recovery began. He received the medical attention he so desperately needed, a warm and comfortable place to rest, and nutritious meals to nourish his weakened body With the dedicated care, he began to regain weight, strength, and trust in humans. Grasshopper's story of survival and resilience touched the hearts of everyone involved.

"A ROAD TO RECOVERY"

On June 23rd, a stray cat’s, now named Aunt Norma, world was changed forever. While darting across a busy road, she was struck by a speeding car. A compassionate passerby witnessed the accident and quickly rushed her to our clinic.

Our staff knew that Aunt Norma faced an uphill battle. She was very underweight and only weighed 4 4lbs when she arrived. Her leg was severely injured and had to be amputated to save her life. In the days following her surgery, she surprised everyone with her rapid adjustment to life as a three-legged cat but after having symptoms of respiratory distress, she diagnosed with fungal pneumonia Fungal infections in cats are rare, but they can be fatal if not treated. Cats that live or spend time outdoors are more at risk for acquiring this type of pneumonia by breathing in spores floating in the air.

While she settled into her new surroundings, she received the loving care she had long been deprived of. Her matted fur was gently groomed, and she was provided with yummy meals and the coziest of beds After 3 months of recovery and multiple rounds of therapy and medications, we are happy to report that she has gained over 4lbs and is a completely different cat! At 10 years old, she obviously was not fairing well as a street cat and while she lost a leg, she gained health and safety

Today Aunt Norma is spending her golden years as a resident of Dr. Keisker-Boessen’s office at the clinic until she finds her forever home. She may have faced a lifetime of challenges, but she now knows the love and care she always deserved. AFTER 490 DAYS, BLANCHE FINDS HER FAMILY!

Our family adopted Blanche, a senior Bulldog/Beagle mix, after seeing a post on social media that she had been with Rescue One for 490 days. Despite our worries about adding another dog to our already busy household, we couldn’t let Blanche spend any more time without a family and adopted her right away It was one of the best things we have ever done. Blanche is perfect. She has the sweetest disposition and everyone who meets her falls in love. She feels like she has been a part of our family forever, and we all feel lucky that we get to love and spoil her for the rest of her days.

FROM PUPPY MILL TO CHERISHED PETS!

I lost mom in June of last year. 10 months later I lost Widget, my 20 year old Yorkie. My life changed overnight to one of the most heartbreaking times I have ever faced. Thank goodness for friends who encouraged me to find another pet. I went to meet Arlo with Rescue One and within five minutes, the little guy became mine. He was so scared of everything so I thought having a companion might help. We met Baby and they became fast friends. They are coming out of their shells during our walks They have also met my neighbors and quickly warmed to them too I love my little family Truth be told we rescued each other!
