North Atlanta High School’s 2013 graduation rate was higher than the average for Atlanta Public Schools and the state of Georgia, Principal Gene Taylor reported.

At a March 26 meeting of the North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools, Taylor said more than 80 percent of North Atlanta’s student body graduated in four years, compared with 71.5 percent in Georgia and 58.6 percent in Atlanta Public Schools.

“We’re well above state and even above national average and we’re a Title I school,” Taylor said. “We’re doing more than getting the job done – we’re knocking the ball out of the park.”

Members of the nonprofit Chastain Park Conservancy are raising money to increase the size of the park playground fourfold while adding some “fairly adventurous” activities for older children.

“The playground that is there right now is about 12 or 13 years old, and covers about 10,000 square feet of space with a hodgepodge of equipment for all ages and abilities,” said Jay Smith, vice chairman of the conservancy. “What will make the new playground special is that it will have several discreet play pods appropriate for different age groups.”

Smith said younger children will have access to a safe and secure part of the redesigned, 40,000-square-foot playground where they can play without risk of injury. As they grow older, they can advance to other play pods that Smith described as “fairly adventurous” with features like zip lines, racing slides, a treehouse and climbing materials.

Smith said the hope is that the playground will be of interest to all children and provide a safe place that’s challenging enough to make them want to come back.

The playground campaign, called “Walk and Play,” is part of an overall 20-

year master plan that also includes safety renovations to the walking paths.

When the conservancy members learned that 85,000 children live within a 5-mile radius of the park that serves about 1 million visitors annually, they decided there was a shortage of playground space in the area. Also, a survey discovered that the existing playground was the fifth most popular attraction at the park, which also includes a golf course and amphitheater.

The conservancy also points to a Georgia State University study that found park users are about 60 percent white and 40 percent Hispanic, African-American and Asian. “It’s a wonderful melting pot,” Smith said.

The playground’s cost is $2.8 million.

So far, the group has quietly raised nearly $2 million. The city of Atlanta pledged funds to build a restroom facility.

Smith said he believes the group has sufficient funds to go ahead and break ground this summer, and will probably be able to get 75 percent of the work done. “If the playground is going to be successful, the work will never end,” he said.

system, libraries are closed. ... It’s not just our library. It’s the whole county’s libraries.”

At the North Buckhead meeting, county officials and candidates for the District 3 seat on the Fulton County Commission, which now represents Buckhead and a portion of Sandy Springs, were asked about the changes at the library.

District 2 County Commissioner Robb Pitts, who has announced plans to run for commission chairman in 2014, expressed support for the libraries.

“I’m going to do everything I can to restore those hours before the end of the year,” Pitts said.

Eaves also said he supported the libraries, which he called “one of the most popular things the country provides.”

He said the county has issued bonds to build eight new libraries and to renovate existing library buildings. “We are in the process now where we are examining staffing problems so we can get library hours up,” Eaves said.

But residents questioned the reasoning behind opening new facilities when the system can’t pay to staff the buildings it now operates. Chamberlain called the situation “ridiculous.”

The library system said in its statement that it had money budgeted to operate three new libraries – East Roswell, Wolf Creek and Palmetto – scheduled to open in 2014 or early 2015.

The library system cut $5 million from its budget because of reductions in library funding in Fulton County’s 2014 budget, County Commission Chairman John Eaves told members of the North Buckhead Civic Association during their annual meeting March 25. The library system laid off part-time employees and reduced hours, Eaves said.

The library system said it cut hours of library operation to 996 hours a week from 1,562. Only two of the library system’s 33 libraries – the Central Library in downtown Atlanta and the Auburn Avenue Research Library – open on Fridays, the system said.

Reaction from some library patrons has come swiftly. “We’re all very upset and disappointed, of course, because we know how important the library is,” said Naomi Harper, publicity chairwoman of the Friends of the Sandy Springs Library.

Stella Wissner of Buckhead said she was “very upset when they changed the hours” at her neighborhood branch.

“The library is a very important place in Buckhead,” she said. “There are senior citizens who go to the library in the morning and read their newspapers.

Now there are at least two mornings they can’t do that.”

The Sandy Springs’ library branch cut its hours of operation to 36 hours a week, from 56, Harper said. The cutbacks, she said, also have meant it has proved difficult to have maintenance work done on the buildings.

Buckhead library patrons also questioned the reason for the reduction in hours at branch libraries.

“I think communities need their libraries, and the more hours they’re closed, the more people can’t use them,” Buckhead resident Sue Certain said.

COMMUNITY Taylor said there often is a relationship between poverty and poor performance in school.

“However, at North Atlanta High School, our students in the economically disadvantaged subgroup have a graduation rate higher than the average four-year graduation rate for APS, the state of Georgia and the nation,” Taylor said.

Taylor also reported that the achievement gap between black and white students is closing. In 2013, 80.4 percent of black students graduated, compared with 85.7 percent of white students.

That compares with Atlanta Public Schools’ average graduation rate of 56.4 percent for black students and Georgia’s 64.3 percent graduation rate for black students in 2013.

“Additionally, we are closing this gap so that a greater percentage of students than ever before in our white and black

subgroups are graduating within four years, with North Atlanta High School having one of the highest four-year graduation rates of black students in urban schools in the nation,” Taylor said.

In 2012, former Atlanta school officials launched an investigation into allegations of racism against staff members at North Atlanta High School. The report found no evidence to support the claims.

North Atlanta Parents for Public Schools is a non-profit organization that promotes public education in the schools in the North Atlanta High School cluster.

Board of Education member Cynthia Briscoe Brown said NAPPS has become a model for parent involvement throughout the school system.

Keep the riches of public libraries open for all To the editor: A few weeks ago, as I usually do on Friday after gym class, I dropped by my local library. But the doors were locked.

Slammed shut. The books, CDs, computers were all in there, but no staff.

I was shocked and frustrated. I came home and checked it out online. All the libraries would now be closed on Fridays. Other days, the hours were much shorter. What had happened?

After asking around, I discovered there was a shortage of funds and a new budget. Seventy people or so had been laid off. I discovered it was not just me who was unhappy. I went to the North Buckhead Civic Association annual meeting, where Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves, Commissioner Robb Pitts, and candidates for District 3 Fulton County Commission were speaking. Each one professed great commitment to libraries. Each knew that cutting back library hours was a big problem. Eaves said that maybe volunteers could supplement paid staff so that hours could be extended.

Recently, I went to my Buckhead Branch Library to return books and check out others. While there, I spoke with the branch manager, James Taylor (yes, like the singer). We spoke of how our library was almost demolished by the Streets of Buckhead development in 2008, but how the community had rallied to save it.

The land had been donated for a library to Fulton County, only for that purpose. “This is sacred ground,” he told me, a sentiment with which I strongly agree. Buckhead Atlanta (the developer which followed Streets of Buckhead when they went bankrupt) is now building all around the library. Buckhead Atlanta is a friend of the library, and has said that they will help the library, with landscaping and more, to fit

the upscale image of their complex.

I told Mr. Taylor what John Eaves had said about volunteers and longer hours. Mr. Taylor did not know about this, but he runs the volunteer program at the Buckhead Library and welcomes more volunteers. So anybody who wants to volunteer can call him at 404814-3502.

I would like to see the old hours restored to the libraries, mine and all the others. It is problematic to lay people off, especially in this economy, so the powers that be, whoever they are, need to avoid laying library staff off, and rehire them if possible.

Sometimes, important people want to focus more energy on a large, fancy library downtown and put limited funds into that. But that is not where the people go. They go to their local branch libraries. So more local libraries

accessible to more people are essential.

Public libraries are important because anyone, rich or poor, can walk into a library and check out a book. But the library has to be open for them to do so. It can be any book at the library, or a book you put on hold, or one ordered on loan from any other county library.

Whenever I walk into my local library, it is like they are giving away money. It is always busy, with lines to check out books and lines to use the computers. But they are giving away something sometimes more valuable than money. They are giving out imagination. They are giving away knowledge. They are giving us a path to a better place.

I have read that metro Atlanta has the least income and social mobility of any U.S. city. So here, in this city/county, our Atlanta/Fulton libraries are more important even than elsewhere. Where there is financial poverty, there need not be poverty of knowledge, imagination, or spirit, if people are able to enjoy the riches found between the pages of a book.

Robin laments that so many items in the stores today are devoid of color — but if you visit her for lunch, she warns she’s using her “rebelliously multicolored” dishes.

Where did all the color go in our lives?

I think we can agree that in American society, our decades are defined by the color of their décor.

In the 1970s, homes were decorated in burnt orange and avocado green.

In the 1980s, it was taupe and mauve.

In the 1990s, I wasn’t paying attention and I have no idea what was supposed to be the “in” thing. I did, however, notice “shabby chic” start creeping into the pages of ladies’ magazines and onto the shelves of Target, and I do think that this particular style sensibility has paved the way to our current color void.

Because the defining colors of this decade, as far as I can determine, are gray and weathered…with white accents.

Come on, people! Can’t we do better than that? Why are we coloring our hair and lubricating our skin if we are going to decorate our homes in “gray” and “weathered”? So that we can look good in comparison?

Don’t believe me? Go ahead — check a bridal registry, any bridal registry. All the dishes on offer are white — and not just shades of white, mind you, but pure white. The variety comes in the shapes.

You might have square white dishes, round white dishes, curvy white dishes; you will have nuances of shapes that will challenge your powers of discernment.

But all the dishes will be white.

I’m telling you, folks, plain is in.

White is the new Wedgewood. At the same time, Riedel is the new Waterford.

The blander, the better.

Still not convinced? Walk into a Restoration Hardware (but don’t wear fuchsia — you’ll probably be kicked out).

I’ve seen more color in a game of “Battleship.” The store’s color palate for upholstery ranges from light neutral to dark neutral. You can choose between “sand” and “fog” for your wingbacks… and you can stray as far as “mocha.”

There might be an item — a pil-

low, perhaps ROBIN’S — that once NEST contained color, but it has been ROBIN JEAN MARIE CONTE stripped of it so as to look stylishly dull. Thus, the pillows in the store that I used to covet due to their singular ability to lend festive splashes of color to my solid leather sofa have all been covered in burlap sacks. (But they have French words on them! And, yes, that costs extra.)

Flowers are dried, furniture is distressed, linens are faded, and they all come that way when you buy them. The more worn-out it looks, the more in it is.

But I happen to like a bit of fresh color. Am I the only one left who does?

Unpretentiously bold orange pumpkins, festive red ribbons tied onto evergreen garland, cheery yellow sunflowers — I think that they all serve to brighten our lives. So how is it, that color has become unfashionable? Why do we only go for the vivid blues and reds when they’re enameled onto a $350 cast iron pot?

I’m a bit unconventional, and I’ve always been about two steps behind the current fashion trends, anyway. Come over to my house for lunch, and you will be served on rebelliously multicolored dishes. Because I do think that if we’re honest with ourselves, we know that we can manage to use color and be tasteful at the same time.

So be daring, be flamboyant, be intense…pull out that old, violently patterned throw you’ve been hiding in the basement and slap it right down onto your beige sofa.

I won’t judge you.

Farmers markets spring to life

BY ELIZABETH WILKES Farmers markets are gearing up for spring, with new locations, vendors and events in the upcoming season. Below is a roundup of what you need to know about markets in Buckhead, Brookhaven, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.

Brookhaven Farmer’s Market

With 34 vendors lined up, this year’s market returns to the parking lot of Brookhaven Baptist Church, 1294 North Druid Hills Road.

“This year, we’re going for a family-friendly feel. We’ll have kid’s activities and music every week, and we’ve invested in tables, chairs and tents to bring back that community feel,” board member Corey Self said.

The market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays until December.

Dunwoody Green Market

Celebrating its 10th anniversary on April 16, the Dunwoody Green Market will open at its new home in the parking lot of Dunwoody Baptist Church, 1445 Mount Vernon Road. Shoppers can look forward to more than 25 vendors.

“We offer the freshest local and organically grown vegetables, eggs, milk, and meat, as well as artisan breads,”said market organizer and owner of Heirloom Gardens, Paula Guilbeau. “You can round out your grocery list with us.”

Easter eats mean more than just jelly beans

BY JOE EARLE AND MELISSA WEINMAN Eleni and Tasos Letsos’ annual Easter feast started with family. Then, about 10 years ago, their children started bringing along families of their own. Friends joined in. Soon, every Easter Sunday, the Letsos were feeding multitudes. “Slowly, the party gets bigger and bigger,” Tasos Letsos said.

Each Easter, diners by the dozen crowd into their Dunwoody home, fill tables placed

on the back deck and, on sunny days, set up in the yard. Last year, Tasos said, about 85 guest showed up. They’re treated to a Greek holiday dinner: grilled lamb, moussaka, pastitsio, Greek potatoes, stuffed grape leaves.

Eleni serves special Easter breads and a kind of cookie or pastry called a koulourakia that she says she only makes for the holiday.

“People have no time to cook like this ev-

ery day,” Tasos Letsos said. “It’s for special days. One of those is Easter.”

Holidays connect with special foods.

They often are dishes handed down within families that come to embody the spirit of the holiday and can make Easter dinner mean more than a slice of ham – that special kind of cookie or cake or deviled egg platter that helps bind a family generation after generation.

Soften butter in blender. Mix in egg yolks and sugar, blend for 10 minutes. Mix baking powder and baking soda with milk and add to mixture. Add vanilla. Add flour and mix. Whip three egg whites and add to mixture. Twist or pat dought intro desired shape and place onto a cookie sheet. Brush with egg white. Decorate with sesame seeds, if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until light brown.

2 cups sifted flour and a little extra for pans, 2 cups sugar, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 4 eggs, 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil* (not butter or margarine), 2 cups grated carrots and 1/4 cup extra for garnish at end Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Grease and flour 2 large round cake pans (with extra flour).

Sift dry ingredients together. Do not include carrots.

Blend eggs and oil together. Add dry ingredients and carrots to egg and oil mixture, mixing well.

Bake at 375 for 30-40 minutes.

Icing ingredients: 8 oz. softened cream cheese; 1/2 cup margarine, softened; 1 teaspoon vanilla; 1 box powdered sugar; 1 cup chopped pecans Mix cream cheese and margarine together. Add vanilla and powdered sugar. Blend well.

Add pecans. Frost cake, stacking layers. Garnish top with fresh grated carrots.

Easter means hunting for Easter eggs. When Julie Herron Carson was growing up in Buckhead, there were plenty to find, which meant plenty of hard-boiled eggs to deal with, starting with Easter dinner. “The Easter Bunny always brought us a lot of eggs,” she remembers.

“There were so many hard-boiled eggs, my mom would make egg salad, deviled eggs, anything to use them up.”

The secret to her mother’s egg salad and deviled eggs, Carson said, was her home-made mayonnaise. It was based on a recipe handed down from her great-grandmother. “That was all we ate growing up,” Carson said.

“I never bought a jar of store-bought mayonnaise until I was a college graduate.”

1 teaspoon mustard 1 teaspoon lemon juice A few dashes of cayenne pepper

Mayonnaise: In a mixer, beat the egg. Add the oil to the beaten egg slowly with the mixer set to high speed. After all of the oil has been added, reduce the speed and add the sugar, salt, mustard and lemon juice. Add a few dashes of cayenne pepper at the very end to taste.

Deviled eggs: Boil and peel the eggs. Cut them in half lengthwise and scoop out the yolks. Mash the yolks with a fork and add mayonnaise until the consistency is soft. Add mustard, salt and pepper to taste. Fill the egg whites with the yolk mixture and top with whatever you like: chopped chives, green or black olives, chopped pimentos, etc. Sprinkle a little paprika on top for color.

For Carol Perry, the preschool director at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Dunwoody, Easter means corn pudding.

The recipe came down from her husband’s grandmother.

“As the wife of a gentleman farmer on a tobacco farm in Elm City, N.C., she prepared this recipe during my moth-

er-in-law’s childhood, and beyond,” Perry said. “My mother-in-law prepared the dish for her four boys during their growing-up years. When I married her son, she gave me this recipe and wrote on the recipe card ‘one of his favorites.’

I have been preparing it for my family ever since.”

For Gwynnie LaMastra, “going for a swim” means more than just hopping in the water for a few quick laps.

Since she was 13, Gwynnie has dedicated countless hours in the pool to enhancing her swimming skills. Her hard work has paid off.

She’s a USA Swimming and Scholastic All-American and a GHSA AllState swimmer. She holds six Pace Academy records, including the record in her signature event, the 100-breaststroke, which she has broken four years in a row, according to the school. Gwynnie qualified for the state championship in the event for four years, and finished fourth in the state in 2013 and 2014, Pace said.

In her four years at Pace, she qualified for 30 state championship events, Pace said, and this year swam four events, broke four Pace records and had four top-10 state finishes, Pace said.

As a junior, she won the Jim and Lesley Wheeler Scholar Athlete Award, which is presented to a girl and a boy from each class below senior level to recognize academic excellence, sportsmanship, good citizenship, high moral and ethical standards, and athletic achievement.

She says her love for the sport originates not only from “the feeling of being in the water,” but also from “all the places you get to go to, and all the people you get to meet” through competitions.

John Ague, Gwynnie’s coach of four years, says he has enjoyed watching her work hard to get better at a sport that she loves. Ague is confident that she will “continue to get stronger and develop

as a swimmer.”

Outside school, Gwynnie swims for Dynamo swim team. She has had the opportunity to travel and compete all over Georgia, as well as in Florida and Texas.

Last summer, she reaped the rewards of her hard work as she qualified for the Junior Nationals in Orlando, Fla. Gwynnie said that making it to the Junior Nationals as one of her greatest swimming accomplishments because it helped her see her potential. “After qualifying for [Junior Nationals] I knew I could do so much more with swimming,” she said.

What’s Next: Gwynnie plans to attend Johns Hopkins University, were she intends to join the swim team.

Willy’s Mexicana Grill (willys.com) has opened a 3,562-square-foot restaurant in Cherokee Plaza, 3883 Peachtree Road, in Brookhaven. The local franchise, which serves California-style burritos, chips, and fresh salsas, now has 23 locations around metro Atlanta.

The 4th annual Heritage Sandy Springs Beer Fest will be held April 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Green.

New, Used and Slightly Abused Inventory Is Constantly Changing.

RA P E  1700 block of Cheshire Bridge Road, NE – A rape was reported on March 18. A man approached a homeless woman in a homeless hang-out location. The suspect took off the woman’s pants and attacked her. Her boyfriend intervened. The suspect took off running.

AS S A U LT  2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 15. Two men were shot when they answered a knock at their door. One man was unconscious, shot in the leg/groin area and transported to Grady Hospital. The other was shot in his lower leg, near his ankle, and transported to Scottish Rite Hospital. The witness said one victim threatened the suspect with a gun during an altercation earlier at a party.

The witness (the victim’s mother) received a call saying the suspect might be coming to the apartment and to call police. Shortly after, there was a knock at the door. A mediumsize revolver was lying on the floor, in the living room, near the staircase. Two spent shell casings were found just outside the door.

 2700 block of Defoors Ferry Road, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 15. A woman said she said something to her boyfriend that she shouldn’t have, and he struck her with an open and closed fist, and a metal pole. She was transported to Grady Hospital in stable condition with several visible injuries to her face.  1900 block of Brantley Walk, NW – An aggravated assault was reported on March 15.

It was a husband-wife dispute. The husband choked and put a knife to his wife’s throat.

Grady responded to the scene.

 4600 block of Wieuca Road, NE – An aggravated assault was reported on March 16.

After going to a bar, a woman went home with a man she was dating. She said that while in the suspect’s bedroom, he suddenly opened a drawer that had a knife still inside and accused her of being a prostitute. He said “You’ll be lucky to get out of here alive,” and also sent her a text message about her being in “bad trouble.” When she reported the incident at the precinct, she was told how to obtain a restraining order, but seemed hesitant to pursue criminal charges.

Police Blotter CONTINUED FROM PAGE 29 driver said he was attacked by the arrestee. He said the man grabbed his seatbelt and pulled it tight across his neck and began choking him.

While choking the cab driver, the suspect also began beating him in the head with his wallet.

The cab driver had to bite the suspect’s finger so he would let go of the seat belt.

ROBBERY  2300 block of Marietta Boulevard, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 9. A unit was dispatched to a person shot call and was flagged down by the victim, who was shot on his right side, just above his hip.

There was also a driver in the black Audi SUV. The victim and driver left the scene and went to Crawford Long Hospital; the victim was transported to Grady Hospital.  1700 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 11. A man was seen pushing a woman against a vehicle in the parking lot, and yelling that she wanted to get him locked up. He punched her in the face, slammed her on the ground and took her cellphone because he was upset over a recent trip she took. Her cellphone was recovered from his underwear.  2400 block of Camellia Lane, NE – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 12.

Someone chased a man down the hallway, shot him in his right leg three times, then stole his watch and cash. The victim was transported to Piedmont Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.  1700 block of Zadie Street, NW – A pedestrian robbery was reported on March 21.

A woman met a man on Marietta Boulevard who agreed to drive her to New Orleans.

He took her wallet out of her backpack, and pushed her out of the vehicle when he turned west on Carroll Drive. She sustained a broken leg/ankle and was transported to Atlanta Medical.

 4300 block of Harris Valley Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on March 10. The victim received a phone call from the alarm company advising of a house alarm. The victim figured it was a false alarm and had the alarm company cancel the call to the police. The victim returned home and found a glass back door broken.

Various property was stolen, including jewelry and silverware.

 900 block of Canterbury Road, NE – A larceny was reported on March 9. A man said a woman known as Sicily (nicknamed “Cinnamon”) spent the night with him, and when he woke up the next morning, he realized his Rolex and another watch were missing. He said when he contacted the suspect and confronted her about the theft, she replied, “What are you going to do about it?” He believes she lives at a hotel off of Fulton Industrial Boulevard. He also believes she got into his PayPal account and facilitated a fraudulent online transfer to the hotel where she stays.

 1900 block of Main Street, NW – A residential burglary was

reported on March 13. The side and outer burglar bar doors were found unlocked. Coins were removed from a small bucket kept on top of the refrigerator, and two Bulova watches were taken from the master bedroom.

 1400 block of Garmon Ferry Road, NW – A residential burglary was reported on March 16. No signs of forced entry. Cash and three rings were noticed missing from a locked safe. The safe has a key pad entry and key override, but no one except the victim knows the combination. The safe was not damaged, but was not in the location where the victim thought she hid it. Video cameras that were still in a box were missing out of the bedroom. The woman said that on nice days, she leaves the rear sliding door open or unlocked for the dogs and three other people to come and go on a regular basis.  2500 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A commercial burglary was reported on March 18. Three or four suspects used a hammer and broke a door/window to the store. The suspects stole electronics, and sped away in a silver Ford F-150. The incident was witnessed by a home improvement store employee from across the parking lot. An officer found the abandoned vehicle on Buford Highway with various electronics inside.

 2500 block of Bolton Road, NW – A larceny was reported

on March 10. Two men carrying black trash bags entered the store, bypassed the counter, and took an unknown number of cigarette cartons. Both fled on foot. Neither man threatened the employee with a weapon.

 100 block of Collier Road, NW – A larceny from a

business was reported on March 11. A man said that lumber worth about $8,000 was stolen from a construction site. There is no surveillance camera or witness at the location.

 900 block of E. Paces Ferry Road, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on March 11. A man noticed his laptop was missing from his office. He said a man walked in, said he needed a criminal lawyer, and was given a referral. The victim thought this was odd, since they do not get walk-ins.  2400 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from a business was reported on March 12.

An unknown suspect stole $70,000 worth of construction equipment from the site overnight.  3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from a specialty store was reported on March 13. The suspect took between 50 and 60 panties.

 2000 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 9. The rear passenger window was broken. A bag of sterling silver jewelry, inside a closed box underneath a jacket, was taken from behind the rear passenger seat. The victim owns a fashion warehouse and believes he may have been followed from Cobb Galleria.  2300 block of Piedmont Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 12.

The rear passenger window was broken. A Blackberry, miscellaneous makeup and possibly a case of water were taken.  3300 block of Peachtree Road, NE – A larceny from an auto was reported on March 14.

The rear right passenger window was broken.

Two shot guns, ammunition and a bag of clothes were taken. The items were found under a stairwell across from there the vehicle was parked, where it appeared someone had been sleeping.  1900 block of Howell Mill Road, NW – A larceny from an auto at a restaurant was reported on March 15. The rear passenger window was broken. A laptop, computer bag, headphones, army uniforms, iPad and medication were taken.

A U TO T H E F T  4000 block of Noble Creek Drive, NW – An auto theft was reported on March 10. A white 1992 Chevy Astro van was taken from the parking lot at the location. The vehicle’s title and bill of sale were inside at the time of the theft. The vehicle will be added to the system pending proof of ownership.
