Dress as Santa Claus and grab a cup of cheer this weekend as thousands of like-minded folks brave the cold during the 14th annual pub crawl. Holiday revelers aged 21 and older can dress as Santa, an elf or other character or expression of the holiday season and enjoy drink discounts and no cover charge at more than 50 participating bars, restaurants and taverns in downtown Reno. The fun gets started at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. Later that night, all pub crawlers are invited to gather at the Reno Arch for a mass photo op. A commemorative cup and map costs $5. Proceeds from pub crawl cup sales will benefit local schools in need. Those who are underage or don’t want to bar hop can still get into the spirit by entering The Great Santa Dash at Wingfield Park at First Street and Arlington Avenue. Runners of all levels are encouraged to participate in the 5k run/ walk and wear a Christmas-themed costume. The event gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Registration is $20-$30. The event sponsors the AIY Foundation to help local schools with athletic equipment and physical education program awareness. Alternatively, you can hit the slopes in a Santa suit for the Santa Crawl Skiing Extravaganza at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, 22222 Mt. Rose Highway, on Saturday morning.
