As part of more than 30 events in the global IRONMAN series, the Lake Tahoe event is one of the most scenic and challenging courses. The day begins with a 2.2-mile open water swim, 112-mile bike course and a full marathon, ending at the Village at Squaw Valley, 1985 Squaw Valley Road, Olympic Valley, California. The race begins at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, at Kings Beach State Park, 8318 N. Lake Blvd, Kings Beach and continues at various locations across the Truckee-Tahoe region. STReeT VIbRATIONS FALL RALLy

The 20th annual celebration of music, metal and motorcycles features celebrity appearances by Paul Teutul, Sr., of Discovery Channel’s American Chopper and Danny Koker of History Channel’s Counting Cars, live entertainment on six outdoor stages, ride-in shows, poker runs, scavenger hunts, 250 vendors and more than 15 factory rigs selling everything motorcycle and more. The event kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 24, and will continue through Sunday, Sept. 28. Shows take place at various locations across the region but will mostly be centered in downtown Reno. SweeT hONey IN The ROck

The University of Nevada, Reno’s Performing Arts Series kicks off its 2014-2015 season with a performance by the a cappella group comprised of five female vocalists. The Grammynominated collective is rooted in African-American history and culture and celebrates the inspirations of a variety of genres, including spirituals, blues, folk, gospel, jazz, popular and world music. They also accommodate hearing-impaired audience members with a sign language interpreter during their performances. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Nightingale Concert Hall inside the Church Fine Arts Building, 1335 N. Virginia St., at the University of Nevada, Reno. Tickets are $5-$30. cAN’d AId beeR ANd bLueS FeSTIVAL

The event features four local blues bands including 9BelowZero, Blue Haven, Guitar Woody and the Boilers and last year’s International Blues Challenge semi-finalists the Rick Hammond Band. The music plays from 5 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Freight House District at the Reno Aces Ballpark, 250 Evans Ave. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. RAIL cITy hARVeST FeSTIVAL

The local nursery and garden center holds its second annual harvest festival and artisan fair featuring locally grown produce from farmers and gardeners, food, activities for the kids and a vegetable competition for the best and biggest in Northern Nevada. Local artisans will also show their creations for sale. There will also be a scarecrow-building class from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is free to the festival and $15 for the scarecrow-building class, which includes all supplies. The event take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21, at Rail City Garden Center, 1720 Brierley Way, Sparks (nearby the Vista Boulevard overpass). ReNO TAhOe MuSIc FeSTIVAL

Ten bands will play rock and country music over two days during the inaugural music festival, which will include carnival games, food and beverages. On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Craig Fletcher Band, Hundred Ones, Jason King Band, The Novelists and the Mark Sexton Band will perform. On Sunday, Sept. 21, country-western and bluegrass bands Slide Mountain Band, Strange on the Range, David John and the Comstock Cowboys, Kelly McFarling and the Home Team and Left Arm Tan will perform. A portion of carnival game proceeds will go to Damonte Ranch High School, Sierra School of Performing Arts, the MakeA-Wish Foundation, Honor Flight, Sheep Dip Inc. and Life Church Reno. The gates are open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21, at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, 6000 Bartley Ranch Road. Reserved seating is $65 for a day pass and $70 at the door. Lawn seating is $35 for a day pass and $40 at the door. Admission is free for children age 12 and younger accompanied by a paying adult.
