The 12th annual Eagles & Agriculture event provides visitors a chance to experience the arrival of bald eagles and other birds of prey that come to the Carson Valley during the winter calving season. The event, which runs from Thursday, Feb. 20 to Sunday, Feb. 23, attracts photographers, birders and nature-lovers who come to see bald and golden eagles, hawks, falcons, owls and a variety of other bird and wildlife species that circle the fields where cows give birth to their calves. Some of the more popular events of the four-day celebration have sold out, so please call for availability of remaining birding tours. Most Eagles & Agriculture events will take place or originate from the Carson Valley Inn, 1627 Highway 395, Minden. Call (775) 782-8144 or visit www.carsonvalleynv.org.

Grrrrl Noise
While the Reno music scene boasts a variety of musical talent, there are too few female rockers tearing up the stage in the Biggest Little City. But this week, Holland Project will attempt to correct that oversight with a showcase of local and regional bands with an all-female lineup or featuring female musicians. Featured acts are Beef Pony, Bam!Bam!, Plastic Caves and Elspeth Summers. Local band Beef Pony is an all-girl, garage punk group featuring former members of Cat Jelly. Bam!Bam! from the Bay Area plays riot grrrl-style, indie punk. Reno’s Plastic Caves plays gothflavored, post-punk-music. Gardnerville’s Elspeth Summers is likened to folk singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom. The all-ages show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at The Holland Project, 140 Vesta St. Admission is $5. Call 742-1858 or visit www.hollandproject.org.
