10/7-8:Reno Celtic Celebration The 27th annual festival features pipe bands, clan tents, Scottish and Irish dancers, Highland athletics, living history demonstrations, Celtic animals, British cars, vendors, kids’ games and more. Main stage entertainment includes The Sligo Rags, Dust in My Coffee, 3-17, Ciana and Sierra Highlanders Pipe Band. The Prince Charles Pipe Band, the SF Irish Pipe Band, Jefferson Pipe Band and Emard Society Pipe Band will also compete during the festival. There will be closing ceremonies each day that will feature all pipe bands playing in the “Massed Pipe Band.” The celebration takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 7-8, at Bartley Ranch Regional Park, 6000 Bartley Ranch Road. CORN MAZE: The farm’s fall festival pumpkin patch features pick-yourown pumpkins. Activities such as a hay ride, cow train, meeting farm animals, lassoing, a corn shed, a hay bale maze for kids, among other activities and attractions, are included in the admission price. Pumpkins are not included in the general admission ticket and are priced according to variety and weight. The festival also offers the Corn Creepers Haunted Attraction, Scarecrow Paintball Safari and Zombie Paintball Apocalypse on selected days in October. Tickets are $10-$15 for these attractions. Attractions and activities include a corn maze, tractor-pulled hay rides, a mechanical bull and bounce houses for the little ones. There isn’t an entrance fee, but activities are individually priced. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OUTHOUSE RACES:
During the 28th annual event, teams of three costumed outhouse racers are pitted against each other in an all-out potty race. One person rides and the remaining team members push, pull or drag decorated outhouses down C Street. The Parade of Outhouses begins at noon on Saturday, followed by the races at 1pm.
