5/12:Reno Sculpture Fest The special events season gets underway this weekend with the third annual outdoor sculpture festival. The event features more than 30 large-scale sculptures, interactive art installations, vendors, food trucks, wellness and activity gardens, kids’ activities, live music and other entertainment along 10 blocks in downtown Reno. The fun continues into the night with concerts and DJ sets at several downtown bars and nightclubs, including 1up, 3rd Street Bar, Cargo Concert Hall at Whitney Peak Hotel and the Trocadero. The center of the action takes place at the ReTrac Plaza, 301 N. Virginia St., between the Whitney Peak Hotel and the Eldorado Resort Casino. Festival hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. Admission is free to daytime events. THE POTENTIALIST WORKSHOP: HotPursuitof

Happiness.The installation is the result of an eight-month road trip undertaken by videographer ACVilla and composer/ keyboardist Thollem McDonas, aka Silver Ochre, who traveled across the lower 48 states from April through November last year, creating an artistic experience of what this country is today. The weekend event will also feature the Reno River Roll, a casual, 7-mile, bike ride open to all ages that starts at the new Virginia Street Bridge, travels along the Truckee River and finishes at Wingfield Park. The festival includes an expo, a craft beer village and a wine village, yoga in the park, fly-fishing classes, the Mother Daughter Look-Alike Contest and live music throughout the day, which concludes with headliner Brooke Eden on Saturday and American Young on Sunday. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 13-14, at Wingfield Park, 300 W. First St., in downtown Reno along the Truckee River. Admission is free to the festival.
