11/24:Animal Ark Open Thanksgiving Weekend Rather spend your holiday weekend outdoors with the kids? Take them out to Animal Ark this weekend to learn about the wildlife sanctuary’s resident animals, many of which become more active in the cooler temperatures of late fall. Dress for changing weather conditions and bring any leftover raw turkey necks and gizzards from Thanksgiving dinner for the Ark’s predators to feast on. Animal Ark, 1265 Deerlodge Road, about 25 miles north of Reno, will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25-26. Admission is $12 for adults and $11 for seniors ages 62 and older and for kids ages 3-12. SCHEELS TURKEY TROT: The Thanksgiving Day event starts and finishes in the parking lot of Scheels at the Outlets at Sparks.
