Renault TRIBER: An MVP in the price of a hatchback! Many typical Indian families consists of three generations of family members living under the same roof. While the concept of nuclear families has been on the rise in metros, the large Indian families are still going strong. When it comes to a family car, such a family would definitely need a 7-seater with lots of extra boot space. This is one of the reasons why an MPV is a very popular car segment in India. Realising this requirement, car manufacturers had introduced 3 varieties of MPVs. On the lower end of the spectrum is a car like the Ertiga, on the mid level is a Marazzo and at the top end is the Toyota Innova. These cars have proven their worth for large families and are going strong in the segment. However, travelling together comes at a premium. The ex. showroom Delhi price of these cars starts at Rs. 7.59 lacs for the Ertiga, Rs. 9.99 lacs (estimated) for the Marazzo and Rs. 15.66 lacs for the Innova. Hence, besides space, there was a premium on other features like comfort and safety too in these cars. A family with lower budget was left with no option but to cut down on the seating capacity and settle for a hatchback or a compact sedan. There was no 7-seater under Rs. 5 Lacs price range. Also, as the vehicles available weren’t 7-seaters and thus were not comfortable for a larger family especially for longer drives. This scenario persisted in India until August 2019 when the Renault TRIBER was launched. The TRIBER came in with a whole lot of features and advantages that gave the vehicle an upper hand in the segment: • 7-seater: Just like a usual MPV, the Renault TRIBER is a typical 7-seater car with a very comfortable last row even for adult passengers. This makes the TRIBER ideal for long drives.
