PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Renan L. Prado Ferreira Architect and Urbanist Brazilian 13th December 1990

With extensive experience in the development of medium and large-scale projects, I specialize in Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies. My work includes multi-family housing projects, social community centers, museums, and airport infrastructure projects. Notably, I collaborated with MMBB on the Brazil Pavilion for Expo Dubai 2020, coordinating a BIM model with multidisciplinary teams across three continents. At Pessoa Arquitetos, I developed a BIM template and workflow tailored to the office’s needs, and recently, I contributed to public projects in Italy, focusing on interventions in built heritage.

I hold an Erasmus Mundus Master’s in Architecture, Landscape, and Archaeology, having studied in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Italy. My skills include architectural design, drafting, 3D modeling, and photogrammetry. I am proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Cloud, and fluent in Portuguese and English, with intermediate proficiency in Italian.

COMMUNITY HOUSE AT BIBBIENA Bibbiena, Italy SPIBS 2023-2024 Executive Project

The architectural project for the Bibbiena hospital includes the demolition and reconstruction of a building to create a new Community House facility. Following guidelines for a safe and sustainable hospital, both the new and historic buildings undergo structural enhancements for improved seismic response. The new structure features X-Lam wood panels for walls, glulam beams for interiors, and concrete foundations. This innovative design ensures maneuverability, space management, and compliance with health and safety standards.

CASA JARDIM KANSAS São Paulo, Brazil Pessoa Arquitetos 2021 Executive Project

Casa Jardim Kansas is a residential development in Brooklin, São Paulo, comprising 15 units with diverse sizes and layouts. The project features water reuse infrastructure and X-Lam wood panels for walls. Common areas include an infinity pool and a rooftop gourmet space. The location offers proximity to public transportation, schools, and amenities. The design integrates modern construction techniques and sustainable practices, focusing on efficient space management and structural integrity while showcasing advanced architectural solutions in an urban setting.

MEMORIAL ANGELUS Canoas, Brazil 24 7 Arquitetura 2020 Design Development

The vertical cemetery project in Canoas, RS, spans 15,000 square meters and includes a comprehensive funeral complex. It features a reception area, a chapel, a ceremonial room for wakes, urn storage, columbarium, and dormitory rooms.

The design also includes technical spaces such as body refrigeration, body preparation, flower refrigeration, and a crematory service, along with 1,170 niches. The project takes advantage of the long, narrow site to create a linear path through dense vegetation, connecting three distinct blocks. It utilizes laminated timber construction, incorporating advanced and sustainable technology for both structural and environmental efficiency.

PORTO ALEGRE AIRPORT Porto Alegre, Brazil 23 SUL Visual Communication and Wayfinding Project 2018

The renovation and expansion of Porto Alegre Airport involve a new passenger terminal, an expanded parking garage, and updated outdoor spaces. The project includes a tailored wayfinding and visual communication system based on Fraport’s standardized visual identity. Key aspects include analyzing traffic flows, detailing signage elements, producing artwork, and developing operational furniture like check-in counters and passport booths. The landscaping and reurbanization of external areas are also part of the plan, with Building Information Modeling (BIM) ensuring accurate mapping and integration of construction elements.

FLORIANÓPOLIS AIRPORT Porto Alegre, Brazil 23 SUL (w/ ps.2 design) Visual Communication and Wayfinding Project 2017-2019

The new passenger terminal at Florianópolis Airport spans 47,000 m² and supports ten boarding bridges. The project coordinated 42 disciplines, encompassing structural, installation, and infrastructure elements. It includes a sophisticated wayfinding system, strategically placing signs and supports for seamless passenger flow. Leveraging a BIM platform, the system automates the positioning of signage, enhancing efficiency and reliability. The flexible signage system, designed for easy assembly and maintenance, features interchangeable components to adapt to the evolving needs of the airport.

MAP OF PATHS PROPOSAL AND SITE PLAN

Boca do Rio witnessed a series of occupations

by Man over time, including the establishment in Roman-era of a Salted-Fish-Industry. The estuary, a mediator between three river streams and the sea, emerges as a central point within a broader archaeological context, but it lacks legibility due to its current configuration, traversed by a recently built parking lot.

After a careful study of the role of the area in an expanded territory, considering its historical human settlement, it was concluded that Boca do Rio is an archaeological landscape.

The developed research unfolds in the proposal of sev¬eral interventions at the site, encompassing a network of trails, the insertion of archaeological markers, and the de-velopment of an architectural project based on excavating and revealing historical structures.

SAN GALGANO ABBEY MUSEUM

Chiusdino, Italy 2020 Start for History competition Coauthor: Victória Baggio

PROJECT PERSPECTIVE

Conceived as a supporting building for the Abbey of San Galgano, the Museum’s primordial white rectangular prism is precisely arranged within the monastic complex. The existing elements define its boundaries and sculpt its subtractions, creating exterior patios and distributing the program layout around a central void.

The building promotes fluxes of contraction and expansions, from the inner corridors to the wide openings, generous zenithal lights, and new spaces for conviviality around its serene architecture.

The Museum reverberates the landscape, frames particular external elements, bonding it with the internal exhibitions of religious artworks, encouraging visitors for the exploration of the surrounding architecture and landscape.

GROUND FLOOR PERSPECTIVE

The São Paulo Dance Company is proposed to be relocated to a new building with proper dimensions and a program dedicated to the needs of the institution.

The project foresees not only different appropriations of its space by the dance professionals, but also enhances the conviviality between agents from different art fields and public, articulating other two important cultural buildings and their activities.

It is only possible due to its structural logic, where the new volumetry is supported by walls along the boundaries of the site, opening and setting the block free, suggesting a “cultural corridor” within the city.

32 Conceived as an Architecture exposed to the surroundings and its multiple aspects, the Peace Pavilion boundaries are composed of pivoting walls.

Its central opaque monolithic volume hosts the most intimate rooms, stimulating a deeper thought in its visitors, working together with its narrow corridors, developing its role as a transitional space between the main rooms of the Pavilion.

The program distribution allows the public to have a transformative experience, perceiving and connecting the Pavilion content with its context, passing from the Exhibition Hall facing the city to the Contemplation area and its contact with the Natural landscape.
