To our valued members, As you open this directory, I hope you see more than a list of businesses and organizations. I hope you see a community filled with hardworking people, small businesses, family-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and people who genuinely want to see one another succeed. As Executive Director, I believe my role is to be a voice for our business community, to be visible and accessible, and to be a true advocate for the businesses we represent. I have also learned that at the heart of everything we do are relationships. Every event, conversation, and introduction has the potential to open a new door or create a new opportunity. One moment that reminds me why this work matters involved a brand-new member whom I connected with someone I thought could help his business. The next day, he told me, “I know why I joined the Chamber, to have that conversation with you. You have no idea what that one connection did for my business.” That is the Chamber. It is the connection, the introduction, the collaboration, and the members supporting and cheering on other members. We truly have something special in St. Bernard. Simply signing up is only the start. Engage and be seen. There is a place for you at the St. Bernard Chamber. Networking and collaboration are critical, especially for small businesses in a community where word of mouth and putting a face to a name mean so much. I am proud of the momentum we are building with our community partners and the advocacy we are doing for our business community. I look forward to turning that momentum into new opportunities, stronger programming, meaningful connections, and greater member engagement. As a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish and former small business owner, giving back to a parish that has given so much to me is what drives me. I love connecting people, supporting our members, and helping others get their win. I believe the future of St. Bernard’s business community is limitless. We have so much potential, and I would love to see our main streets come alive with community spirit. We have the heart. Let’s show it. Thank you for being a member and investing in our business community. I am honored to serve you and excited about what we can accomplish together. With gratitude,

Erin Bigner, Executive Director

What’s in a Name? The St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce is proud to unveil the official name of our 2026–2027 Chamber Directory: Terre-aux-Boeuf Built on Heritage. Driven by Business. Terre-aux-Boeuf is French for “Land of the Oxen.” It was one of the earliest names used to describe what is now much of St. Bernard Parish. Long before modern roads, neighborhoods, and businesses, Terre-aux-Boeuf was a place of hard work, agriculture, fishing, trapping, and commerce, industries that laid the foundation for the parish we know today. It simply represents the origin of commerce in the parish. Over the centuries, St. Bernard Parish has transformed dramatically. The economy evolved, yet one thing has remained constant: the resilience, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit of the people who call St. Bernard home. That’s why the name Terre-aux-Boeuf is so meaningful for the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce’s publication. Rather than simply publishing another business directory, Terre-aux-Boeuf connects today’s business community to the rich history of the parish. It reminds readers that commerce has always been part of St. Bernard’s identity. Just as the early settlers built a thriving community through hard work and innovation, today’s Chamber members continue that legacy by investing in our economy, creating jobs, serving their neighbors, and shaping the future of the parish. In many ways, Terre-aux-Boeuf symbolizes exactly what the Chamber exists to do: honor our heritage while driving our future. It tells the story that business in St. Bernard Parish didn’t begin today, it has deep roots that stretch back more than 250 years. Every member featured in the publication becomes part of that continuing story. That’s what makes the tagline so fitting: Terreaux-Boeuf. Built on Heritage. Driven by Business. It isn’t just the name of a directory, it’s a celebration of where St. Bernard Parish came from, the businesses that sustain it today, and the vision for where it’s headed tomorrow.

Investing in St. Bernard’s Economic Future St. Bernard’s economic development leaders are building for long-term growth. By Misty Milioto

Ginger Cangelosi, president and CEO of the St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation (SBEDF), says location, industry momentum and workforce partnerships are driving new investment in St. Bernard Parish. And for the SBEDF, attracting a new business to the parish is about more than closing a deal—it’s about making sure the investment lasts. “Our role is to make St. Bernard Parish a place where businesses can see a clear path from initial interest to successful operation and long-term growth,” Cangelosi says. “Our goal isn’t simply to secure another project. It’s to recruit investment that creates lasting opportunities for St. Bernard residents and strengthens the economic foundation of the parish.” That process starts with identifying companies that fit the community. These are businesses that create quality jobs, complement existing industries and add long-term value. From there, SBEDF helps companies navigate site selection, incentives, workforce resources, permitting and zoning. “We have a strategic location just five miles from downtown New Orleans, a strong maritime and industrial base, multimodal transportation access, available industrial assets, a growing workforce pipeline and a quality of life that is difficult to replicate elsewhere in the region,” Cangelosi says.

St. Bernard’s strongest economic momentum continues to come from industries built on assets the parish already has, such as maritime and logistics, manufacturing, energy, petrochemicals, seafood and commercial fishing, and film and digital media. The St. Bernard Port is central to that economy. According to Cangelosi, its latest economic-impact figures show approximately 2,267 jobs and $183.2 million in economic output, and the port handled more than 6.6 million short tons of cargo in 2025. Established industries also are reinvesting. In May 2026, American Sugar Refining broke ground on the first phase of a $785 million modernization of the Domino Sugar Refinery in Chalmette, the According to SBEDF’s Cangelosi, its latest economic-impact figures show company’s largest capital investment in approximately 2,267 jobs and $183.2 million in economic output, and the St. its history, Cangelosi says. Why Businesses Choose St. Bernard Parish Local leaders say quality of life— not just economic incentives—is what draws businesses and their employees to St. Bernard Parish. By Misty Milioto

When businesses weigh whether to put down roots in St. Bernard Parish, the decision often comes down to more than tax incentives or available land. Local leaders say safety, housing and community resources, such as the parish library, all factor into whether employees and their families want to live here. Public safety is one of the first things businesses and families consider, according to St. Bernard Sheriff James Pohlmann. “The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office takes a proactive, community-focused approach to public safety,” he says. “We maintain a strong presence throughout the parish while working closely with residents, businesses, schools and our local, state and federal partners to address concerns and help keep our community safe. St. Bernard is a close-knit community where people look out for one another, and we are proud of the level of safety our residents and businesses enjoy.” The Sheriff’s Office runs a range of community outreach programs, including Neighborhood and Business Watch, Night Out Against Crime, D.A.R.E., Junior Deputy, the Citizens Police Academy, and school safety initiatives. The Business Watch program gives business owners a direct line to the Sheriff’s Office, sharing safety information and working together to prevent crime, Pohlmann says. “We believe public safety is an important factor for families and businesses considering St. Bernard Parish, and we want them to know the Sheriff’s Office is accessible, responsive and committed to keeping St. Bernard safe,” Pohlmann adds. Riders can choose from 10-, 15-, 30-, or 51-mile routes before returning for the End of the World Finish Fest at the Los Isleños Heritage Complex featuring food, music, local businesses, and community partners. The event typically attracts approximately 450 cyclists, including riders from across Louisiana and beyond, while providing valuable exposure for Chamber members and sponsors.

Savor St. Bernard

Shop Small St. Bernard

A 10-day dining campaign created by the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce to promote local restaurants and encourage residents and visitors to dine throughout the parish. Participating restaurants receive coordinated promotion through social media, email marketing, Chamber website features, digital advertising, and the Savor passport program. In 2026, the campaign featured 24 restaurants across 26 locations, generated approximately 225 completed passports, more than 14,000 social media views, and a 318% increase in Chamber website traffic.

A community-wide initiative encouraging residents to support local businesses and keep their dollars close to home. Shop Small St. Bernard shines a spotlight on locally owned businesses and the important role they play in our community and economy.
