King Cake: The Drink

In February, the rest of America goes into its long winter’s nap with a one-day break for Presidents’ Day. In New Orleans, we will see you that break, and raise you the other 27 days. The entire second month of this year is involved with Carnival, and we start building towards Mardi Gras itself, this year, the first Tuesday in March.

You tell us what city has the better idea about how to spend what is usually the coldest month of the year. Naps, early sunsets, cold temperatures and maybe snow, OR formal balls, night after night with exciting parades, unlikely to snow, likely to have temps in the 60s. Seems to be no contest with New Orleans the obvious winner.

It really makes sense to enjoy a parade or a day in the Quarter while sipping a drink that features the colors of the season. Being festive applies to your mouth and your eyes.
