A NOTE FROM BEV CHURCH AND MORGAN PACKARD GRIFFITH

For the past eight years, St. Charles Avenue’s Courts of Carnival has been a labor of love wherein we chronicled Carnival’s courts – complete with their historic themes, elaborate mantles and glittering crowns.

These krewes have been a part of our city’s history and culture for over a century and a half. Lineages have often been passed down through multiple generations, and as those generations grow, they create linages of their own.

In this, our second free-standing issue, we’ve added three more old-line courts, bringing us to a grand total of 25.

These events are published by Ball date, from Mardi Gras Day to January 28, in reverse chronological order.

Long live the season!
