HEADSPACE DAY

Because every young person should have access to mental health services.

On Tuesday 11th October, the first-ever national headspace day will be celebrated across the country.

In support of young people with mental health issues, this national day of awareness is about ensuring every young person in Australia has access to youth friendly, mental health services no matter where they live.

Research shows that each year, one in four young people in this country have experienced a mental health issue, and 75 per cent of most mental health illnesses emerge before the age of 25*. Early intervention for these young people is incredibly important.

With a network of close to 100 centres across metropolitan, regional and rural areas of Australia, headspace is determined to deliver the best care in a supportive, confidential environment, whether it be in person, over the phone or online via eheadspace.

Through this integrated approach, headspace has provided more than 1.5 million services and has

helped over 255,000 young people throughout the country**. A recent headspace study found that from a sample of young people who accessed the service, 60 per cent experienced significant improvement after seeking support*.
