WINTER NIGHT MARKET

The Winter Night Market is returning in 2016 for 14 weeks with some of Melbourne’s best food vendors, performers and artisans warming up the historic sheds of the Queen Vic Market. Becoming a winter ritual, the Winter Night Market offers a much needed mid-week pick me up.

The market kicked off on June 1 and will run until August 31. There will be more than 30 street vendors including the world famous award winning wood-fired pizza from 400 Gradi, Asian-latin dishes from Mjr Tom and Vietnamese Fried Chicken from The Brass Coq just to name a few.

There will also be warming beverages from Those Girls Beverage Co, who specialise in non-alcoholic hot apple cider, said to taste like a liquid hot apple pie. For those looking for a more mature option there is The Sippery Wine and cheese bar offering wine from Robert Oatley Vineyards and cheese from That’s Amore. There will also be mulled wine and beer on tap available.

There is more to explore than just food with incredible entertainment in a collaboration with the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. There will be performances

by Afro-Cuban Latin jazz group Los Cabrones on Wednesday June 8.

July will also see the return of the free Market Cinema with screenings of local short films. In August a partnership with Multicultural Arts Victoria will bring exhibitions and performances from the Maori community and a Polynesian dance group.

Other features of the Winter Night Market include stalls with locally made gifts, jewellery, crafts, fashion, massage and tarot-card readings.

On every Wednesday from 5pm to 10pm during winter at the Queen Victoria Market, the Winter Night Market has something for everyone to escape the mid-week winter blues.
